Activities at Lindum House Care Home

Our fantastic Activities Coordinators make sure that there is a full programme of social events to suit all interests and capabilities. They aim to not only to stimulate, but to ensure that everyone involved has lots of fun. We enjoy trips out visiting local places of interest or just to explore, which inevitably ends up with us having a lovely lunch somewhere.

There are regular concerts that we hold in the home that allows us to have a good old singalong, and our community links include the local churches, knit and natter groups and toddler groups coming in to see residents.

On a daily basis, everyone enjoys a variety of activities, including quizzes, bingo, arts and crafts, reminiscing and movement to music. We also host movie afternoons on the big screen which, of course, involves popcorn and ice cream at the interval!

Any residents who are unable to join us in the communal areas for activities have one-to-one time in their rooms, with us either reading to them, chatting or anything else they wish to do that’s within their capabilities.

Kelly Rolph

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi there, I'm Kelly. My role at Lindum House ensures all of our residents always have lots of fun activities to look forward too.

I grew up down south, my parents worked in news trade & I've lived in many places! I've lived in hull for 20 years now, worked in health and social care for around 15 years, I started on care, worked through domestic, kitchen assistant and found my calling with activities!

I'm a super social person, enjoy being busy and sing in my spare time. I am part of a small singing charity group 'guise & gals'. I've been singing karaoke since I was 18 but never had the confidence to take it any further. I do, however, love putting on a show for our residents!

I'm a strong believer in 'treat people how you wish to be treated' everyone is different and it's important to focus on each individuals wants and needs, to encourage and nurture life, you only live once!

I'm full of energy, providing there is music... it's good for my soul!

Our residents smiles are my reward, it makes me so happy to see them enjoying them selves.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Lindum House Care Home

Live musical performance

This morning, our Residents were treated to a Classical Concert by Live Entertainers Michael and Judith on the Piano and Cello.  This was attended by one of our Residents who, herself, used to play the Concert Cello.   It was so well received, that we have booked them again to play Christmas Songs and Carols for us on our 'Christmas Jumper Day' (8th December)

This afternoon, it was "Eyes Down" for a game of Bingo. Well done to our first 'Line' Winner, Jean, and 'House' Winner Peter.

West Side Story

"On This Day" in 1961, West Side Story was released into the Cinemas.  Our Residents were given an 'Admit One' Ticket to enter the Lounge, into the Showing.  Cartons of Popcorn and glass bottles of Coca-Cola were offered during the Intermission.  One Resident made the comment "This is my favourite film - it takes me back to being 16! I went to see it with my best friend"

International Gin & Tonic day!

Today is 'International Gin & Tonic Day' so our Residents, at Lindum House, were invited to partake in a tipple. This was, of course, accompanied by "ice and a slice"!

We had some Gin Bar Music on in the background and it was well attended and enjoyed by our Residents.  This was followed by a General Knowledge Quiz, as you are "never too old to learn new things" as quoted by one of our Residents.

Love is in the air!

Yesterday, we said "Congratulations" to our wonderful couple - Mr and Mrs Farley - who celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary!   We presented them with a balloon, a bouquet of flowers and a cake.   They felt "throughly spoiled - we thought we'd get nothing and we ended up getting everything"

When asked the secret to 65 years of marriage, Mrs Farley replied: "Prayer!"  The Farley's entertained us with stories of how they met and their Honeymoon.  We finished by playing "Songs from 1957" - the year they married.

Celebrating colleagues

We're excited to announce our 'Employee of the Month' for the month of August.  August's winner is our fabulous carer Michelle.

Michelle was nominated by her fellow colleagues for her hard work and dedication in her role and how she always goes above and beyond for our residents.  From all of us at Lindum House. Well done Michelle.

Gentleman's Club

This morning the gentlemen of Lindum House were treated to a well deserved pamper in our salon as they enjoyed a barber shop experience.

Featuring a hot towel shave and grooming. Our gentlemen were able to relax and enjoy a glass of ale against the backdrop of themed barbershop music.

Elsewhere in the home our residents upstairs enjoyed a series of visits in their rooms, featuring a variety of personal activities including a private reading from the Bible, enjoying the music and sounds of Elvis Presley, pampering and even a quiz courtesy of our friends at Oomph Wellness
