Activities at Lindum House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Our fantastic Activities Coordinators make sure that there is a full programme of social events to suit all interests and capabilities. They aim to not only to stimulate, but to ensure that everyone involved has lots of fun. We enjoy trips out visiting local places of interest or just to explore, which inevitably ends up with us having a lovely lunch somewhere.
There are regular concerts that we hold in the home that allows us to have a good old singalong, and our community links include the local churches, knit and natter groups and toddler groups coming in to see residents.
On a daily basis, everyone enjoys a variety of activities, including quizzes, bingo, arts and crafts, reminiscing and movement to music. We also host movie afternoons on the big screen which, of course, involves popcorn and ice cream at the interval!
Any residents who are unable to join us in the communal areas for activities have one-to-one time in their rooms, with us either reading to them, chatting or anything else they wish to do that’s within their capabilities.

Read our brochure ‘Life-enriching activities’ for more information about life in our care homes.

Kelly Rolph
Activities Co-ordinator
Hi there, I'm Kelly. My role at Lindum House ensures all of our residents always have lots of fun activities to look forward too.
I've worked in health and social care for around 15 years, I started on care, worked through domestic, kitchen assistant and found my calling with activities!
I'm a strong believer in 'treat people how you wish to be treated' everyone is different and it's important to focus on each individuals wants and needs, to encourage and nurture life, you only live once!
Our residents smiles are my reward, it makes me so happy to see them enjoying them selves.
Celebrating life at Lindum House Care Home

Green Finger Group
Here at Lindum House, we hold a Green Fingers Group on a Wednesday afternoon.
This is a chance for our residents to show us their skills in the garden – tending to the allotment, picking the fruit once ripe and watering the plants.
Once the fruit has been picked, it goes into the kitchen and gets turned into delicious pies for them to enjoy.
The group is also a chance for the residents to reminisce about the gardens they had and looked after.
Intergenerational Play
We, here at Lindum House, love our connection with the children from the local nursery.
On a Monday afternoon our residents visit them and on a Wednesday morning they visit us!
Intergenerational play is so important – and many of our residents have children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that they may not see so often.
Singing traditional nursery rhymes, recounting stories and playing games, as well as arts and craft. Smiles on the faces of the residents and children make it so special.
Community Coffee Mornings
Here at Lindum House we hold a Community Coffee Morning every Tuesday between 10:30am and 12 Noon.
As well as hot drinks, cakes and biscuits, we put Local History Books out on the tables as a Talking Point between staff and residents. Hull As it Was, Beverley: Now and Then, Scenery from all over Yorkshire.
Memories and stories are shared from what we see in the books – but imagine one resident's surprise this morning when she saw herself in one of them! From when she and her sister-in-law, Kathleen went to see her brother-in-law play in a match for Leeds Football Club.
Community BBQ & Music Festival
We were delighted to welcome the local community to enjoy a community BBQ & Music Festival event that was held in the home’s grounds on Thursday 21st August.
The home was delighted to welcome Mayor Alison Healy, representatives from Beverley in Bloom, the Humberside Police, Beverley FM and the Smile Foundation.
Visit From the ARK Community Connectors
At the beginning of August we were delighted to welcome Anna and Cathy from the ARK community group based at the Beverley Minster.
Anna and Cathy led a fun filled arts and crafts session creating beautiful flower arrangements whilst enjoying a good natter with our residents and relatives.
Everyone had a fabulous time and we can't wait to welcome back our new friends in the near future.

Pat's Birthday
Here at Lindum House we love to celebrate the Residents birthdays – our Chef always make them a special cake for the occasion, and most have family visit too.
We have a Quiet Lounge that the family can use, that the Activity Staff tend to decorate with banners and balloons.
Happy Birthday Pat! Everyone at Lindum House hopes that Pat and her family have had a lovely party here for her 79th birthday!
A special family gathered to celebrate a special lady - and we hope you've made some lovely memories to add to the stories shared throughout this afternoon. Lots of nice flowers, cards and gifts have been given.

Golden Oldies Sing-a-long
On every first Thursday of the Month, our local Micro Pub, Albie’s Bar, holds a Golden Oldie’s Sing-a-long.
We take some of our residents along each month and they always have an amazing time. The staff couldn’t be more helpful and friendly.
One resident, Rita – who is always first amongst the residents to put her name down on the list to come along, says: “It’s so lovely, friendly and the brilliant atmosphere – reminds me of a place I used to go in Batley when I was growing up”
Another, June, is a brilliant dancer and is always up on her feet.

Generational love
Great Grandma Vera, age 82 & Great Grandad Raymondo, age 92, both reside at Lindum House. Great Grandma 'Vera' feeds, Great Grandchild 'Chester Ray'.
Vera and her granddaughter Georgina, have always been close. Vera used to watch Georgina whilst her mother worked. Their relationship has always been loving, and they speak very fondly of each other.
Chester Ray (Ray after his great grandad), was born a day before his great grandad's birthday. Georgina visits her great grandma & grandad often, so much so, that Chester now cries for a bottle off his great grandma & falls straight to sleep in her arms!

High Tea
This afternoon our home enjoyed a delightful afternoon of social fun as our residents, colleagues, and relatives gathered together for a lovely high tea.
It was a wonderful opportunity to socialize, enjoy delicious treats and each other's company.
We are so grateful to our incredibly talented Head Chef Matt for baking a delicious selection of home made scones.
Coffee with a Coppa
We were delighted to welcome our local police officers. PC Jack and PCSO Sarah to join us for our homes ‘Coffee with a Coppa’ event.
Our local officers spoke to our residents about their career paths, why they wished to join the force and spoke to the group about the latest goings on from within the town, before taking questions from the audience.
We were also thrilled to welcome Jessica from the The HEY Smile Foundation to our event and to meet our residents.
Also a huge thank you goes out to our wonderful Head Chef Matt for creating and baking a wonderful selection of cakes, Viennese whirls and home made biscuits.

Armchair Fitness
Here at Lindum House, we feel it is really important to keep fit – so we love to welcome Jack every fortnight for an Armchair Fitness group.
He uses a mix of props and techniques and the Residents have a great time – as you can see from the picture, whatever your abilities there is something to suit and measured to you.

John Robert's performance
We love to lend our ears to the musical talents of John Robert – with his medley of hits we all recognise.
He gets us singing along, clapping our hands, tapping our feet, grooving our shoulders.
Her often asks for requests and if he doesn’t know it – he takes the request home with him and learns it for the next time he is in.
Always a popular artist that we love to invite again and again.
Lindum’s Giant sunflower & Pumpkin
Residents and colleagues at Lindum House have been working hard on their allotment and have had some wonderful little harvests as a reward for their labour. We never expected two large rewards we received after such a beautiful summer and so little rain. However, we were all in awe of our beautiful sunflower when it flowered. Visitors came to see it too and were surprised at the size!
The children noticed the size of our pumpkin on one of their nursery visits and staff too were surprised at just how big that pumpkin grew! Our chef, Matt made a huge batch of pumpkin soup from it. Residents commented on just how tasty it was!
Buttercup the Therapy Pony
Our residents and relatives were thrilled to welcome back Buttercup, the therapy pony.
Buttercup is a favourite visitor to the home and she is incredibly placid lapping up lots of love and affection from the residents.
We're grateful to our Furry Friends for bringing Buttercup to visit the home and we can't for Buttercup to return in the near future.

Summer Treats
Making the most of the summer sunshine, Steph has embarked on a series of visits to the local shops accompanied by our residents, sharing in the enjoyment of well-deserved frozen treats together.
It's always a pleasure to take our residents into the local community and they greatly enjoy conversing with others who they meet.
