Activities at Meadow Park Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Mandie Walker
Lifestyle Enrichment Coordinator
Hi, my name is Mandie, and I am the Lifestyle Enrichment Coordinator here at Meadow Park.
I am delighted to be part of the team in Meadow Park. I have worked in the care sector since 2005, both as a care assistant and a lifestyle coordinator. I have taken family breaks to raise my children and care for family members, always returning to care homes.
The best part of my role is that every day is different and getting to know residents' personal biographies and their passions is rewarding and humbling. I enjoy spending time with family and friends. You will find me at the touchline watching the children playing football and I spend hours walking my cocker spaniel.
Celebrating life at Meadow Park Care Home

International Men's Day
We celebrated in style with a special Gentlemen’s Club for our male residents, where they enjoyed classic pub snacks, crisps and a few beers, all while trying their hand at some engaging games.
We also had some great conversations about male role models, men’s health and wellbeing. It was a great day, enjoyed by all.

Lest we forget

Grandparents Day

Residents enjoy the races
This week was dedicated to our ladies dusting down their fascinators and crafting their bonnets. Our Gentlemen reviewed the racing cards and chose their favourite horses, debating the winners and losers!
The sun was shining and the bubbles flowing and what better place to enjoy a glass of fizz than in the garden?

Birthday celebrations
Congratulations upon your big 91st Birthday, Sheila! Birthdays are a firm fixture in our social calendar and Sheila enjoyed many visits from her family and friends who came bearing gifts, cards and flowers.
Sheila was thrilled with her birthday cake and, of course, shared her home-made birthday cake at tea time with her friends.

Halloween fun
Here at Meadow Park we got into the spooky Halloween spirit of things by creating an autumnal display with painted and carved pumpkins, flowers and wreaths.
We hosted a fun-filled party in the afternoon with delicious Halloween inspired treats, mocktails and themed music, it was so much fun!
Some of our residents preferred to paint and decorate pumpkins and to dress up for the occasion, others got involved in themed quizzes and games, and enjoyed watching Halloween films. We all had a spooktacular time.

Birthday wishes

Autumnal crafts
The Autumnal theme continued with our ladies and gentlemen crafting their Autumn wreaths. With a little help from their wonderful families, the final results are stunning. We will be displaying them with pride.
The ladies upstairs continued with the crafting theme. Showing patience and perseverance, they made bracelets to wear with pride.

Sports Day
This week, in support of Tour De Barchester the team at Meadow Park held their very own Sports Day.
Egg & Spoon Races, Hula-Hoop spin-offs, Bean Bag Throwing and good fun had by all. Of course, no one was competitive. It was a fantastic day. Well Done Team Meadow Park!

A trip down memory lane
A book from the 1950s proved to be a popular talking point. Feeling and spraying perfume bottles from back in the day brought memories of favourite fragrances. Knitting patterns caused a stir. knit one purl two knitted baby matinée jackets. A tin box of trinkets was a hit with the gentlemen.
Residents enjoyed telling the team about their favourite foods, baking and cooking wholesome 'stodgy' meals for the family. These recipes will be shared as we have started to complete A Recipe Book of Memories.

Children in Need
Staff, residents and visitors came together to raise money for Children in Need.
A colleague, said: “Taking part in Children in Need has been a huge amount of fun and everyone at the home has been behind us all the way. It’s for such an important cause. I’m very glad to be able to do my bit to raise both awareness and money for Children in Need and all the initiatives it supports.”

A splash of colour
Residents of Meadow Park often get together to enjoy their regular art and craft sessions which support their creative ideas and encourage different methods of art. Residents have been busy showing their own style of colourful designs.
This class is particularly popular with all and everyone thoroughly enjoys a get-together with a cuppa and a slice of delicious cake. Residents enjoy the colouring and crafting as they find it very calming and therapeutic. It enhances mindfulness and promotes positive mental well-being.
Ice Ice Baby!
Perfectly timed in the middle of a heatwave, staff and residents at Meadow Park had a fantastic time celebrating National Ice Cream Day on July 20th, a brilliant excuse to sample lots of cooling treats.
Antoninio’s Ices visited Meadow Park today to offer staff and residents a delicious ice cream treat. Traditional cones with flakes, Tubs of good old dairy-based ice cream with many different types of toppings and flavour combinations were tasted and savoured by all.
General Manager, Julie Bond, said: “It wasn’t just the residents that were excited when we found out there was a National Ice Cream Day, the eyes of the staff lit up too! Who doesn’t love ice cream? We have all had a great time trying out new flavours and toppings. It was a wonderful way to keep cool in the heat.”

Happy Fathers Day
Our lads enjoyed visits from their families and went out for some very special family time. In the afternoon, 'gents' only had some quiet time supping a beer, playing cards and listening to some of their favourite songs.

Time for a cuppa
As part of Dementia Action week, we hosted a very special "time for a cuppa" which was organised by Annouska.
We welcomed at our coffee morning and we were delighted so many of you could join us. A big "Thank you" to Mary's family for providing a delicious home-made cream sponge and another "Thank you" to Gary for providing home-made scones and canapés. We were certainly spoilt with the sweet treats!
