Activities at Meadow Park Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Mandie Walker
Lifestyle Enrichment Coordinator
Hi, my name is Mandie, and I am the Lifestyle Enrichment Coordinator here at Meadow Park.
I am delighted to be part of the team in Meadow Park. I have worked in the care sector since 2005, both as a care assistant and a lifestyle coordinator. I have taken family breaks to raise my children and care for family members, always returning to care homes.
The best part of my role is that every day is different and getting to know residents' personal biographies and their passions is rewarding and humbling. I enjoy spending time with family and friends. You will find me at the touchline watching the children playing football and I spend hours walking my cocker spaniel.
Celebrating life at Meadow Park Care Home

Mother's Day
What a beautiful day it was with so many lovely people visiting as we celebrated Mother’s Day - there were flowers, cards, laughter and smiles oozing happiness throughout our home.
High tea using the best China and a glass of bubbles! Wishing all of our Mam's, Mum's, Nana's, Mama's and Granny's a truly magical Mother's Day

A day of fun and colour

Residents enjoy festive crafts

Fond farewell to retiring colleague
After almost fourteen years of continuous service much-loved Care Assistant, Linda Jefferson has decided to retire.
Staff and residents at the home sent Linda off in style with champagne and presents to thank her for many years of dedication / a huge party with lots of singing and dancing. Everyone at the home has very fond memories of Linda and she in is one of those people who was born to care for others – she has such a huge heart and was greatly loved by the individuals living at Meadow Park Care Home. She was an inspiration to her colleagues and we will all miss her. We wish her all the best!”

Children in Need
Staff, residents and visitors came together to raise money for Children in Need.
A colleague, said: “Taking part in Children in Need has been a huge amount of fun and everyone at the home has been behind us all the way. It’s for such an important cause. I’m very glad to be able to do my bit to raise both awareness and money for Children in Need and all the initiatives it supports.”

Gentlemen's Club
The gentlemen gathered together today for their friendly afternoon session of pitching their wits against each other with a marathon of games.
Dominoes, card games and giant Jenga were played with stealth and planning. Friendly banter and wit were fabulous to hear!
The Gentlemen’s Club is an amazing chance for our lads to come together with similar interests forging new friendships.

Home celebrate colleagues long service!
Local lass, Lacey Milner, a care home worker from Meadow Park has received a prestigious Long Service Award in celebration of working for Barchester Healthcare for 15 years.
Lacey, who is now the home’s Administrator, started at Barchester in March 2011 and has worked with residents and their relatives for 15 years to ensure that their needs have been met. Lacey absolutely loves her job at Meadow Park and says she has done just about every role in the home over the last 15 years, apart from General Manager!

Gentlemen's Club

International Men's Day
We celebrated in style with a special Gentlemen’s Club for our male residents, where they enjoyed classic pub snacks, crisps and a few beers, all while trying their hand at some engaging games.
We also had some great conversations about male role models, men’s health and wellbeing. It was a great day, enjoyed by all.

Lest we forget
Double celebrations
Everybody at Meadow Park would like to wish our Joe a very big Happy 87th Birthday and our David a very big Happy 82nd Birthday
Both of the lads enjoyed being the centre of attention today and were spoilt with lots of cards and presents from their doting families.
Birthdays are a firm fixture in our social calendar!
99-years young!
Our birthday boy enjoyed a visit from his family over the weekend and a trip out to Capheaton Tea Rooms where he was warmly greeted by the staff. The tea room is a firm favourite with many local cyclists who also stopped by to wish Ron a happy birthday. Ron was a keen cyclist and spent many years visiting the tea room each week, cycling up from his home in Humshaugh to enjoy a cup of tea and slice of homemade cake.
Back at the home, Ron was presented with a beautiful and delicious cake with personalised and editable prints and spent time with his son, grandchildren and their families.

Halloween fun
Here at Meadow Park we got into the spooky Halloween spirit of things by creating an autumnal display with painted and carved pumpkins, flowers and wreaths.
We hosted a fun-filled party in the afternoon with delicious Halloween inspired treats, mocktails and themed music, it was so much fun!
Some of our residents preferred to paint and decorate pumpkins and to dress up for the occasion, others got involved in themed quizzes and games, and enjoyed watching Halloween films. We all had a spooktacular time.

Birthday wishes
