Activities at Mount Tryon Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Annmarie Scourfield
Activities Coordinator
Hi, My name is Annmarie and I am the Lead Activities Coordinator here at Mount Tryon Care Home. I am passionate about supporting our residents and supporting them to take part in person centered activities. It is important to me that we are encouraging our residents to do the things they enjoy and build a happy, sociable environment for them.
Celebrating life at Mount Tryon Care Home
Dementia Disco
With lights, music, and lots of moving and grooving! We had a fantastic time at our dementia disco at Mount Tryon complete with our glow sticks, neon and refreshments.
As this was so much fun we plan to host another one every month for everyone to enjoy.
Visit from St Mathias Pre School
We had a great time singing songs with the children from St. Mathias Pre School. They demonstrated their knitting skills and shared some of their beautiful toys for us to play with alongside them.
We then enjoyed a fun game of parachute. After all that energy, we ended with a story read by one of our residents which we all enjoyed very much.
Barchester get moving week!
Last week Mount Tryon have been participating in the Barchester get moving week.
Get Barchester Moving is a Foundation Week initiative encouraging a week of activity to include the Barchester care home teams, residents, relatives and communities.
You can move however you please – it’s the collective ‘Move Minutes’ that count! And it’s an opportunity for everyone to fundraise for the Foundation, whilst having fun and taking care of their wellbeing.
Throughout the week we all had so much fun! We took part in garden walks, skittles, yoga, dancing, hula hooping, darts, boxercise, Pom Pom fitness and lots more!
Mount Tryon Flower Show
We decided to hold our own Barchester Mount Tryon flower show because it was the Chelsea flower show. We had a great time creating our display and reminiscing because we had Sweet Williams to use.
Our Deputy Manager, Dana, had the difficult task of selecting the best because they were all so excellent. Congratulations to our winners.
Luc the harpist
We had a wonderful afternoon at Mount Tryon when Luc arrived to entertain us with his harp and his extensive knowledge of all the songs he performed for us.
We had Sherry, Port, and Hor dourves to accompany this.
Pom Pom Fitness
Due to popular demand, our Pom Pom fitness class at Mount Tryon will now be offered weekly.
It's a really exciting routine that gives us the ability to move, groove, and have a great time while staying in shape.
National Biscuit Day
To celebrate National Biscuit Day, we prepared some delicious shortbread biscuits. We chose to eat them at our monthly poetry club!
This month’s poetry theme was nature, so we couldn’t resist making bunny and chick biscuits and what a treat they were!

Mini Bus Trip
We are excited for a summer filled with minibus excursions. This week, we had a great afternoon strolling around Teignmouth's Jacks Patch Garden Centre in the beautiful sunshine and, of course, pausing for a cup of tea before exploring the horticulture section.

Easter Baking
At Mount Tryon, we always love baking, but this cake we made and decorated was especially memorable because it was our residents' entry into the Barchester Healthcare Easter Cake competition. We were thrilled with the way it turned out, and everyone enjoyed a piece of cake or some bunny biscuits with their afternoon tea.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life enrichment
With us, it's all about making every day meaningful for our residents. We do this through our Life Enrichment programme, designed to suit the needs of each person in our care, and support individuals in retaining their joy, purpose and life skills for as long as possible. We offer a range of daily activities for individuals to get involved in, whether that's socially as part of a group, solo or with a team member, ensuring everyone receives the support that adds enrichment to their life.
