Activites at Oxford Beaumont Care Community

This week has been all about celebrating the wonderful carers here at Oxford Beaumont!

Carers Week is an annual event to raise awareness of caring, highlighting the challenges carers face, and recognising the contribution they make to our residents, families and communities throughout the UK.

To treat the team this week, the hospitality team served up a delicious breakfast for the staff to enjoy before the shift ahead. Residents and staff also wrote messages of appreciation to display in the reception, along with a selection of sweet treats!

From everyone here at the Oxford Beaumont, we thank you all for everything you do. From supporting with personal care, serving at meal times, pouring the endless cups of teas to engaging with residents in activities or just simply asking about someone's day. These simple questions can open up a really meaningful conversations and lead to finding common interests, and they can really brighten somebody's day!

THANK YOU CARERS! 

To start the weekend off right, we joined together in the garden to listen to our wonderful volunteer, Amrita, perform for us! Amrita played a mixture of music, including Elvis, Abba, Gene Kelly and Julie Andrews! There was certainly something for everyone!

To follow on from our musical morning, Tina opened up a pop-up stall full of luxury toiletries; creams, perfumes, aftershaves, shower gels and more. It was a great opportunity for a bit of retail therapy, especially for those who aren't able to get as much as they would like.

Our recent sporting event led residents and staff out on the field for a fun and entertaining volleyball match!

The weather was in our favour and what better way to top off a Friday afternoon than some exercise, fresh air and friendly competition with the support of all of our fabulous spectators!

This week we have been honouring Victory in Europe Day 80 years ago, and yesterday we celebrated with friends, family and with our sister home, Waterside Court Care Home - Barchester Healthcare.
We were privileged to have been invited to Waterside Court to enjoy a display of military vehicles whilst sharing stories and reminiscing together. 

Back at Oxford Beaumont, we felt patriotic with uplifting wartime music by singer, Tristan, and indulged in delicious cakes and sandwiches, prepared by our fantastic hospitality team! Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this monumental day!   

We certainly have been taking full advantage of all the glorious weather we have been having recently here in Oxfordshire.

Residents and staff enjoyed a visit to the Kings Arms Pub to relax by the river whilst enjoying great company and refreshing beverages! 

We welcomed our local community into the home, and what better way to get to know each other than over tea and cake! 

We are always pleased to meet new people whilst sharing stories and the history of Oxfordshire and surrounding areas, and this morning was the perfect opportunity to do just that! 

Residents, staff and loved ones joined together to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, meaning the feast of the breaking of the fast and traditionally begins the day after the sighting of the new crescent moon which marks the end of Ramadan and the start of the month of Shawwal, the tennth month of the Islamic Hijri calandar.

A big THANK YOU to Nadia and Bibi for arrangning the event and kindly preparing all the delicious food! It was a great afternoon and was lovely to have been joined by so many.  

Two residents at Oxford Beaumont Care Community were joined by peers and staff to share the celebrations. The couple were prepared an extra special breakfast by our fantastic hospitality team and deliered to their door! 

The home also gifted the pair with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, chocolates and cards. They also received a special anniversary card from the king and queen to top off their day!

We recently took a trip to a local farm in time for the lambing season. It was a fantastic experience to be able to get so close to the newborns and admire their cuteness – whilst resisting the temptation of sneaking one back to the home with us! 

There were also lots of other mischievous livestock roaming around the farm for us to meet!
