Activities at Oxford Beaumont Care Community

Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a mix of activities and events that cater to all tastes, which includes minibus outings to nearby places of interest and visits from animal trusts, local school choirs, musicians and entertainers. We also undertake one-to-one activities for residents who are unable to participate in group sessions, and encourage loved ones to join in whenever they can.

Alice and Sarah

Activities Team

Hi, I'm Alice (left) and I've been working in activities since 2019. I absolutely love my role, and I'm passionate about providing meaningful and life enriching activities for all our residents. My aim is to make them smile everyday!

Hi I’m Sarah (right), I’ve been a member if the Oxford Beaumont team since January 2020. Starting as an Activities assistant on a part time basis, I enjoyed the role so much I'm now one the the full time coordinators.

It’s an absolute pleasure working here, being able to provide life enriching activities that make our residents happy and smile. We have so much fun together, and learn something new everyday from these incredible ladies and gentlemen.

Making links with local groups and organisations to ensure our residents remain part of the local community is a key part of the activities team role, if you would like to make contact with me or my colleague Sarah, please feel free to call us on 01865 730990 or drop us an email OxfordBeaumont.Activities@barchester.com

Virtual Wine Tasting

Our residents were treated to a wine tasting masterclass hosted by Nick Parker and Lee Isaacs from Unity Wines. Wine can be a complicated subject and Unity Wines aims to help people navigate the different styles on offer in order to find the perfect wines for all of its customers. So today we enjoyed a virtual tour of various wine regions, sampling different grape varieties which was simply delightful!

Robotic Dogs Delight!

Our dog day last month raised over £200 which was split between the Oxfordshire Animal Rescue charity and purchasing a new robotic therapy dog for residents.

We took the dog to meet everyone and it was a huge hit. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

Barchester 100 Hours Outside

As part of the #Barchester100hoursoutside challenge we held a nature themed craft session outside this week. First we collected twigs then wound wool around them to make mobiles. Everyone loved the results which are hanging in various parts of the home and the gardens.

Chocolate Filled Roald Dahl Day

It was Roald Dahl Day yesterday so we celebrated in true Oxford Beaumont Style. Residents loved making sweet treats in the morning, but I think they enjoyed eating them even more! We also made decorations, read parts of some Roald Dahl stories and some information about his life, and watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Lots of fun as usual! #ArtsinCareHomes

Teddy Bear Arts & Crafts

Today; 9th September is International Teddy Bear Day so we decorated some teddy bear money boxes in one of our craft groups. The activity was also enjoyed by one lady in her room as she was unable to join us downstairs. We remembered our favourite teddy bears and one of the residents remembered getting into trouble for cutting her teddy bear open when she was little to perform an appendectomy on it!

Garden Games

We are trying to squeeze every drop of fresh air that we can before autumn really takes hold, and we were fortunate to have some gorgeous sunny days last week.

We took advantage of our fantastic garden spaces, and residents enjoyed games and refreshments in the garden. We had boules, croquet, putting, and bean bag games.
