Activities at Pentland View Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Pentland View Care Home
An afternoon of Festive Films
Amongst many festive activities this month, residents greatly enjoyed an afternoon of holiday films. Reay and Mey watched Elf and played a board game based on the film and residents in Stroma enjoyed watching Home Alone. With the Christmas trees twinkling and the lights dimmed in the main lounge, it was very festive and cosy. Elf hats and twinkle lights were at the ready and smiles were on everyone’s faces. Everyone was singing along to the familiar Christmas songs in the films. There was even a request for White Christmas, which we are going to finish watching on Christmas Day.
Christmas Pantomime
“He’s behind you!” Residents, family, friends and staff all enjoyed another visit from Theatre Presto performing their Cinderella pantomime at the start of the month. It was such a lovely way to start off the festive season! From the youngest audience member, to the oldest, a good time was had by all. We even had a few would-be Cinders try on the slipper. The show was fully interactive and festive fun was had by all.
Meet the Reindeers
Across our homes we got into the Christmas spirit of things by joining a festive live virtual experience, led by Des and Kelly from Performing Pets.
Our residents were thrilled to meet the charming furry friends and get up close and personal with the reindeers.
We certainly learnt some interesting facts about the animals and had a fantastic time.
Jumper Joy at Pentland View
Residents, visitors, and staff at Pentland View Care Home in Thurso recently helped to make the world a better place by wearing a festive jumper on Friday the 9th of December in aid of Save the Children’s annual fundraising event, Christmas Jumper Day.
All residents and staff at Pentland View were encouraged to buy, borrow or decorate their own special Christmas jumpers and donate to Save the Children. While we may be biased, everyone looked fantastic while spreading festive cheer. The home raised sixty pounds for Save the Children, collected via their own web link for the cause and also a unique text code created especially for donations from Pentland View. This is enough to provide children in the UK and abroad with warm clothes and shoes, school supplies, and even food this Christmas.
David's Day in Wick
David was born and raised in Wick and speaks about it often. One afternoon, we decided to take a trip through to see the sights of his hometown and to get lunch at a very popular local spot. He very much enjoyed a lunch of fish and chips, with his favourite drink choice…IRN Bru. Afterwards, we had a drive around the town to see his old street, where he used to work, and also the Wick Academy Football pitch, where he used to play. We have also made plans to go back and watch a home match in the near future.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
We recently held a McMillan Coffee morning in conjunction with their World’s Largest Coffee Morning. Residents and guests enjoyed a good catch up while drinking their cuppas and munching on the delicious cakes baked by the kitchen for the event. Everyone said how lovely it was to come in and make connections and it will definitely become a regular event going forward.
