Activities at Reigate Beaumont Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising and delivering a fun mix of activities and events chosen by the residents here at Reigate Beaumont. We work closely with the local community who get involved in all kinds of activities within the home. We enjoy all kinds of events which could be anything from trips out to local places of interest in our minibus or visits from entertainers and musicians, spending time in our beautiful gardens, or providing great activities for the mind body and soul. We liaise with local churches and regularly hold multi-congregational services at the home.
It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and invite them to our regular events. We also have a variety of volunteers who really enjoy spending time within the home too.
Karyn Borngräber
Each resident is unique and as an Activity Coordinator, I aim to create meaningful activities whereby residents can feel at home. From quizzes to games, stretch classes to flower arranging, reminiscing to enjoying our beautiful gardens. From musicians to Namaste sessions, outings, intergenerational and community involvement – a balanced activity program of body, mind and soul allows each resident to feel as if they have purpose and meaning in their lives. As well as sitting and having meaningful one to one engaged conversation or holding your loved ones hand – can allow a resident to feel that Reigate Beaumont is their home. With a background as a Healthcare Assistant, we are taught to provide person centred care. This has helped me to provide person centred activities.

Life at Reigate Beaumont Care Home
Cuppa & a browse...!
Fancy a cuppa at your local garden centre anyone? That's exactly what residents felt like recently and so we were off in the morning in our minibus, to Knights Garden Centres.
First a stop at the café for a delicious selection of coffee and cake to start us on our browsing mission. Lovely to sit and chat and getting to know one another more.
Then off to browse! So many different kinds of Christmas decorations to look at and a lovely choice of Christmas gifts. Fabulous morning out which residents thoroughly enjoyed.
Harvest Festival Celebrations!
Over this Autumn Harvest, residents have enjoyed a superb Cheese & Wine evening with relatives and staff.
Cosy indoor atmosphere, wonderful company of friends and a delicious variety of cheeses, cold meats and fruits. Makes for the perfect evening!
During the month and also in celebration of Autumn Harvest, our local church, Reigate Park Church delivered a Harvest Festival Service for our residents.
We have formed great community relationships with the church and always look forward to the team visiting.
Arts & Crafts Club!
For National Day of Arts in Care Homes with NAPA, we decided to do something a little different. The theme is HOME and we decided to create an expression of our home.
We have all heard the saying that a home is where the heart is - but our hands create our home as well. Our family is the heart of our home.
Our hands reflect many years of memories shared with the ones we love and every wrinkle tells a story. But no matter how wrinkled, our hearts always shine bright for the ones we love and for our home that we created!
We experimented with photography and colour and came up with these lovely images which we printed.
Ladies at RHS Wisley!
Our ladies here at Reigate Beaumont have longed to go to RHS Garden Wisley for some time now. It was a unanimous wish which came about discussing the ideal morning outing. There was so much excitement as we boarded our minibus and set out on the motorway for our perfect outing. It was so worth the trip as we all agreed - it was a fabulous morning out. From the friendly staff, to the different items in the store to the incredible variety.
Onam Festival of Kerala!
We love to celebrate and share our diverse culture with our residents so our staff celebrated Onam Festival in our home, designing a 'pookhalam' on our lounge floor. The staff wore traditional dress and they looked absolutely stunning! The Onam Festival is celebrated in the Indian state of Kerala, and is one of the biggest and most spectacular festivals involving a range of celebrations, music & dance performances, and flower carpets to name a few. Our staff shared an incredible personal celebration with residents and colleagues – dancing and sharing their culture with the residents who were absolutely in awe of their traditional dress.
Lazy Bank Holidays!
Sometimes our days can be so busy with so much going on that is so nice to just relax and chat with other residents on a lazy Bank Holiday. So we chose some relaxing soft music and got on with it. Easing into the week with a bit of 'Mindfulness with Michele'. The theme for our Arts & Crafts Club was a bit of relaxing colouring in with Michele, our lovely receptionist. I wonder though...was there more colouring or chatting going on? One thing is for sure, there was delicious cake & tea this afternoon in our patio garden!
