Activities at Shawford Springs Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Joanne Gadd
Hello, I am Joanne. I have worked as an activities coordinator for over seven years. In that time I have built a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience in designing and implementing activities that will support the mind, body and soul. I have a passion for delivering person centred sessions and will strive to ensure our weekly programme is engaging for all. I love organising events and am continually looking for ways to connect with our local community.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Shawford Springs Care Home
The sun is shining ....
This afternoon we’ve been out in our lovely garden enjoying the glorious weather.
Lys took on the job of watering all the beds & borders to ensure they are looking their best - so a big thanks Lys!
Eyes Down
This week we had our weekly Bingo Club & for todays game we played something a little different… we had to guess the T.V show theme tune! The music took us all on a trip down memory lane, with everyone recognising the classics such as Dads Army & Steptoe & Son straight away. Well Done to Lys who was todays winner.
Arts and Crafts
This week we’ve been getting creative in preparation for this years #tourdebarchester cycle event, which is due to visit us at Shawford Springs in June.
The 4 day event will see riders cycle over 270 miles, stopping at 15 Barchester care homes along the south coast in order to raise money for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.
So Lys & Jean have been spending time in our activity room creating banners & decorations in preparation for the big day
Music For the Soul
On Friday afternoon we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of live music courtesy of Curly the Busker. Curly performed a variety of well known tunes & medleys, including hits from the likes of Buddy Holly, Lonnie Donegan & Elvis Presley. We all had a great time singing along!
