What our families say on carehome.co.uk

"This is an excellent facility but the care has deteriorated in the last six months. High staff turnover and short staffing have resulted in long waits for assistance. Cleaning of the room and bathroom facilities is lacking and essential repair work not attended to."

"Mum has just come to live in this wonderful environment and I sleep easier knowing she has great care 24/7. The staff have supported us as a family adjust to our new way of life and I can't thank them enough for their kindness. The home itself is beautiful, clean and functional. The food is amazing and I am always very happy to visit Mum for lunch here! Thank you, Shawford Springs."

"Finding a care home for your mum is probably one of the hardest things as a daughter you will have to do. Shawford Springs has certainly fulfilled that task. From the day we 1st visited in August 2023 to a 2-week respite trial in November 2023 to moving in March 2024, we have been welcomed with open arms by every one of the staff. They are all very caring and professional which has helped us all to adapt to this transition it certainly does feel like we have gained an extended family and is a great relief to see Mum happy and enjoying life again. Thank you all so much."

"Accommodation excellent - would not hesitate to return if need be. However, I did not feel safe when taking my daily shower. The bathroom/toilet was excellent with a non-slip floor, but at the age of 93, and being very unsteady on my feet (I need a walker to assist me when standing or walking) I had expected to find a permanent shower seat would be fitted. It was very difficult having to hold on to the grab support and wash/shower at the same time. I also had to dry myself by sitting on a towel on the toilet seat cover! I understand that permanently fitted shower seats (or folding seats) are commercially available. I look forward to hearing your views on this matter."

"The care and attention my mother receives is wonderful. Her dementia is progressing but the staff are really on top of it, they are super! The only thing I would like to see is perhaps more fruit in the coffee shop or perhaps in her room instead of just cakes with their tea/coffee."

"From the start, I was impressed by the warm, friendliness of Barchester Shawford Springs Care Home. It is not at all institutional and many details make it seem home-like. I have found it easy to get to know the carers and other staff who are unfailingly helpful and responsive, though always professional. The manager and senior carers are accessible and were extremely supportive during the early difficult days. My husband has responded well to the kindness and the range of activities, gradually finding a role for himself. The 'cafe' is a great feature - welcome smiles and chat during much of the day."

"From my first point of contact, I knew this was where Mum should be and I was right. Every member of admin staff - reception, office and management are friendly and willing to help with questions families understandably have. The laundry ladies, cleaners and care staff are kindness itself, friendly and caring and somehow always incredibly cheerful with nothing too much trouble. As for the building - it’s like an upmarket hotel with wonderful food to match. There’s also a beautiful garden where thought has been given to its design. It’s a garden to be used and enjoyed and for residents to be in, not a garden just to be looked at."

"When my brother first arrived at the home he required personal care and attention, which he has received in bucket loads! He has settled in so well and really feels he is in a lovely "home". As a family, we are all delighted with the change and progress made, and it's all down to the brilliant care he has received and continues to receive. A massive thank you from all his family!"

"This is my aunt's first experience of a residential care home and despite her initial apprehension, both she and I have come to appreciate the very high standards of care, accommodation and facilities provided. The staff have been wonderful and my aunt quickly settled in, really enjoying the attentive and warm approach of ever familiar faces. All in all, highly recommended."

"Dad has settled into Barchester Shawford Springs Care Home over the last six months. He receives excellent care from the wonderful team in the home. He is not the most able or easiest resident to care for yet he is given the time and attention he needs to thrive. He enjoys participating in all the activities and has loved going out on trips with the other residents. We have been very happy with Shawford Springs and have no hesitation in recommending it to others."

"Barchester Shawford Springs Care Home is an outstanding care home in every respect. The staff are caring, considerate and compassionate. They approach every individual with care, carefully planned to meet specific needs. Nothing is too much trouble for the care team who helped my wife settle in by caring and supporting her specific needs. The environment is quite remarkable, designed to support dementia residents. I am personally grateful for all that has been done to help my wife feel secure and settled."
