Jubilee celebrations fit for a Queen

Excitement has been running high at Sherwood Court in Preston where residents and staff have been busy making Jubilee-themed decorations and baking up a storm of red, white and blue cakes and pastries with the help of Chef Brandon in preparation for the Jubilee.

Staff and residents at the home put their heads together and came up with a plan for their celebrations fit for a Queen.  Over the bank holiday weekend the home a royal tea party. The whole community came together to celebrate this wonderful event. Reminiscing about street parties and what a lovely time they had. We started the afternoon by raising a glass to our Queen for her outstanding dedication and efforts, she has provided for our country for 70 years. Moving on to having a sing song to wartime classics from the D – Day Darlings.  The whole home came together to celebrate our longest reigning monarch and reminisce about what she means to each and every one of us. We finished off the fun with a game of pin the crown on the Queen.

Getting into the party mood

Residents have been getting into the party mood for the Queen Elizabeth’s Jubilee. Making their own bunting and decorations for the home. Residents reminisced about her dedication towards our country for the past 70 years!

May day celebrations

Residents have been extremely busy making a traditional mayday pole for the staff to dance around. With colouring ribbons, the pole was donation to us from express carpets in Preston.

Book corner with Graham Whitlock

We had a lovely time joining Graham Whitlock for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘The Crystal Palace Chronicles: Star of Nimrod’.

Our residents were thrilled to find out more about the book and the fictional character Joe, who went on a rollercoaster adventure travelling back in time to the heyday of Victorian Crystal Palace.

Everyone had lots of fun during the virtual talk, as Graham took them on a clever and hilarious adventure. A great time was had by all.
