Activities at Sherwood Court Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Sherwood Court Care Home
Residents honour the fallen
Residents and staff of Sherwood Court commemorated Remembrance Day where they joined the rest of the United Kingdom in holding a two-minute silence at 11am.
As well as marking Remembrance Day by wearing poppies and watching the televised service, some residents have been reminiscing about the world war and sharing stories of the different jobs their loved ones had during this period and their thoughts of what it was like growing up during the war.
Children in Need
Staff and residents have taken part in Children in Need to raise money for Children in Need.
Children in Need is the BBC's UK charity. Since 1980 it has raised over £950 million for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. One of the highlights is an annual telethon, held in November and televised on BBC One and BBC Two, and the charity mascot "Pudsey Bear" is as well-known as legendary host Sir Terry Wogan who hosted the telethon for 35 years.
This year Residents have enjoyed watching clips of children in need performances. They also took part in the Children In Need 2020 annual duck race using the iPad. Residents enjoyed cheering their selected duck on and placed their bets!
Birthday celebrations
One of our residents spent their 101st birthday in style with lots of presents and facetime with the family. Lockdown didn’t dampen our spirts and making it extra special. The fun wasn’t over as staff had prepared a birthday party in the evening with music, snacks and laughter. Other resident joined in the fun with a sing along and party games
Residents enjoy making toffee apples
Toffee apples are a great treat in autumn, whether it's for Halloween or Bonfire night, everyone loves them so Residents at Sherwood Court decided they wanted a sweet treat for their Halloween celebrations and decided to get into the sprit by trying something different. They had a go at making our own toffee apples to enjoy and they were delicious!
Residents get into spirit of Halloween
Residents of Sherwood Court have enjoyed getting into the Halloween sprit by helping to carve pumpkins and to show their creative sides in designing their faces. For children of the community Halloween is a little different this year due to the ongoing pandemic and many communities have set up a pumpkin trail for the children to follow instead of trick-or-treat. We have ours firmly displayed in our windows for all to see!
Home hosts Macmillan fundraising event
Residents and staff at Sherwood Court didn’t let the covid19 slow them down as the joined the World’s Biggest Coffee morning to raise funds for Macmillan. Due to the current pandemic they kept it in house and the homes activity coordinator, James came in early each morning to sell delicious cakes and hot drinks to the team. The home made a fabulous £84.00 and staff enjoyed coming into work and going home with a with hot drink. The cake was kindly donated to us from a member of the community. Sherwood Court would like to thank everyone who supported them.
