Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

International Firefighters Day

To celebrate International Fire Fighters day, and to show our appreciation and recognise the hard work and commitment they provide to our community, we invited our local Fire Fighters for an afternoon tea with our residents.

The residents thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them, especially looking at the fire engine, and we even got to try out some of the equipment!

We also welcome any emergency service personnel in to our care home any time for tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits and a warm space to spend their breaks. We are grateful for all of the hard work and dedication and it has been a pleasure having the opportunity to show our gratitude this afternoon.

Virtual Talk on Coronation History

We had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.

During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.

The event was highly enjoyable for everyone, and we are eagerly anticipating King Charles' coronation.

Dementia Café

We would like to say a special thanks to everyone who came and joined us at the launch of our first Dementia Cafe today here at Stamford Bridge Beaumont.

It was lovely meeting new faces and welcoming back Families and relatives.

Our next one will be on Thursday 25th May 2-4pm, and we are delighted to be welcoming Fiona at Dementia Forward as our special guest speaker.

Fiona works in the community providing education and awareness regarding dementia and all of the issues surrounding this disease – what is dementia, what are the symptoms and why do behaviours occur and coping strategies for the carer.

Come along to understand how your loved one living with dementia may feel, and learn how to support them through expert help and advice.

All is welcome!

Easter Celebrations

Happy Easter to everybody from all of us here at Stamford Bridge Beaumont!

We have had lots of fun over the weekend including talking about the traditions of Easter, eating chocolate and of course looking after our little chicks.

We would also like to share a special thanks to our wonderful resident Bryan Lawson who kindly hosted a special Easter Service for our residents, delivering a speech of which he has been so busy working on. Everybody enjoyed singing an array of hymns and saying prayers and celebrating the traditions of Easter together.

What a wonderful Easter weekend we have had!

Baby Chicks

We are so egg-cited to announce the arrival of the rest of our Hatched Baby Chicks.

There was lots of exciting discussions and conversations on potential names for our new arrivals and residents have had a great time watching the chicks hatch and an even better time holding them!

We had a great afternoon celebrating a special day for a special couple.

To mark Alice & Michael's Wedding Anniversary we had a party where we enjoyed cake, tea and coffee and listened to music while talking about the wedding of the lovely couple, who have been married 66 years today.

And not only is it their wedding anniversary, it is also Alice's birthday today! Happy birthday to Alice, and Happy Anniversary to Alice and Michael from us all at Stamford Bridge Beaumont.
