Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Life at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

Knit and Knatter Group

Our weekly knit and knatter group is so wonderful. To see our residents thrive at a skill that has played such a big role throughout their life is amazing. We often hear them sharing stories with each other about the many things they have made through the years.

A couple of the ladies started on a special project ready for world Alzheimer’s day.

Remembering Queen Elizabeth

On the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth's death our residents had a day of activities to remember her by. In the morning residents did flower arranging which brought lots of colour into the home. We also enjoyed coffee and home made cake, which was prepared by our chef, in the garden whilst discussing the late Queen and all of our favourite memories.

Resident takes trip down memory lane

Staff and residents from Stamford Bridge Beaumont care home in Stamford Bridge were treated to a trip down memory lane when they visited the local Gardens, Burnby Hall in Pocklington.

Residents had a fantastic time remembering previous trips that they had taken, they shared their anecdotes and reminisced about the changes that had taken place, no one more so than our resident Margaret who along with her husband wrote a book about the history of the gardens, which is still on sale in the gift shop today.

A visit from Bridge Shanty Crew

We had the pleasure of welcoming Bridge Shanty Crew to our home.

The sun was shining and the garden was full as many of our residents sat out to listen to the singers who were fantastic and enjoyed by everyone, including family members who joined us for the performance.

Following the entertainment our residents and their families enjoyed refreshments in our main lounge where they discussed how amazing the singers were.

Visit to Burnby Hall Gardens

Our residents headed out on our minibus to Burnby Hall Gardens where they enjoyed feeding the fish, walking around the gardens and admiring the birds in the avery. To top the morning off they enjoyed some cake and coffee in the cafe.

The weather was very kind to us and some of our residents even had their shorts on - it was a beautiful day. We look forward to visiting again in the future.

Residents Enjoying The Band

Visit from a local band!

A local band called Dark Moon came to entertain our residents and families. Residents were in great spirits, up dancing and swaying along. The band played a great selection of songs from Sweet Caroline to Tulips From Amsterdam, residents knew all the songs and had a lot of fun singing along.

After the afternoon of singing and dancing our residents enjoyed discussing the performance over tea and cake and looked back on their memories of each song. We look forward to welcoming Dark Moon back again in the future.
