Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe
I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition
I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.
I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

Cornish Pasty Week
Staff, residents and guests at Barchester’s Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home in Stamford Bridge, had a fantastic time celebrating Cornish Pasty Week, a brilliant excuse to sample lots of delicious fare.
Starting off the week and courtesy of local bakery ‘Bridge Bakes’ our residents also enjoyed a gift of freshly baked Cornish pasties for the homes afternoon tea party.
The pasties went down a treat with a cup of tea, with residents and guests reminiscing about trips to their local bakeries of yesteryear.

Long Service Award
A much cherished House Keeper and Home Services Manager at the Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home in York has received a prestigious Long Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 20 years.
Jackie Stonehouse, a much valued Home Services Manager started at Barchester in 1989 and has worked in dedication with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.
She was presented with a £250 shopping voucher by Home General Manager Emma Smith, a golden leaf and gifts from her colleagues and friends.
Adele Keenan, Employee Services Director at Barchester said: “I’m always pleased to hear stories about the long service of Barchester staff and am delighted Jackie has achieved this milestone. It is dedication like this that ensures our residents are provided with a happy place to live.”

Master Florist Tutorial
Across our homes we had a fantastic time joining, Kathryn Delve, Master Florist, for a Valentine’s-inspired live virtual flower arranging demonstration. Kathryn shared brilliant and creative ways to decorate our tables with beautiful flowers that are sure to make your heart swoon!
Those participating in this virtual event put their skills to the test and followed along with some amazing creations of their own. Residents truly enjoyed the experience.

Medical Detection Dogs
Across our services residents had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Emilia from Medical Detection Dogs.
Emilia took us on a journey to discover how the organisation began training dogs to support people with complex health conditions, saving their lives on a daily basis.
Using their amazing sense of smell, these dogs can identify odour changes emitted prior an episode and alert the person to take preventative action.
We were introduced to the wonderful dogs and the science behind the sniff. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our canine-loving residents.

Musical Moments
Music is a wonderful way to bring our residents together and get them moving and singing along.
We welcomed back the very talented Jess from Musical Moments for the first session of 2024 who once again provided our residents with an afternoon full of musical fun, light exercise and lots of laughter. Our residents really look forward to Jess' visits to our home and attendees always leave happy and with a smile on there face (and most of the time a song stuck in their head!)

Birthday Celebrations!
We love a good birthday party at Stamford Bridge Beaumont. We celebrated the birthday of our wonderful resident Marilyn, with a tea party and a fantastic cake made by our very talented chef!
All residents enjoyed coming together to chat, listen to music and of course, enjoy a slice of cake washed down with a hot drink.
A very special day, for a very special lady. Happy birthday Marilyn
