Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Congratulations, Janet and a huge thank you for all your hard work and dedication over the years.

Fun filled afternoon at Stamford Bridge Beaumont

Here at Stamford Bridge Beaumont our life enrichment programme includes a variety of different activities, with live music performances being one of the most popular.

Residents and staff enjoyed an afternoon of singing and dancing with our monthly visit from Dark Moon.

The lounge area became a dancefloor as staff and residents sang and danced along to some wonderful songs. Music is a huge part of life here at Stamford Bridge Beaumont. The power of music is used daily in the home to promote physical, psychological, social, and spiritual wellbeing.

A fantastic afternoon, and we can't wait for our next visit already!

Music Through The Ages Tour with Sarah Deters

We had a brilliant time with curator Sarah Deters as she took us on a virtual ‘Music Through the Ages’ tour of St Cecilia’s Hall: Concert Room and Music Museum.

Our residents were thrilled to discover weird and wonderful musical instruments, hear their unusual sounds, and find out how instruments have changed over the last 500 years.

The virtual live event explored the world-renown collection of musical instruments on display at St Cecilia’s Hall, Scotland’s oldest concert hall.

A lovely time was had by all.

Flower Arranging at Stamford Bridge

Our residents adore seeing flowers in the lounges, on the dining tables and especially in their rooms.

We've had a lovely afternoon cutting and arranging the flowers, engaging joints and preserving motor function. Being around flowers helps boost mood and lower levels of anxiety.

The ladies were very particular about the height they wanted them and how they looked in the vases.

Sunny Days at Stamford Bridge Beaumont

With the lovely weather we are having we brought the beach to Stamford Bridge Beaumont for the day.

We have enjoyed fish and chips or battered sausage and chips followed by ice-cream with sauces or fresh fruit.

This afternoon we will be playing seaside games including hook a duck, seaside bingo and a horse racing.

Visit from Ducklings

We had a lovely morning with a visit from some Ducklings.

Residents found it very interesting finding out what they eat. Worms and dried beetles weren't our residents idea of something that sounded very nice!
