Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

The home was decorated with shamrocks and we all enjoyed exploring the Irish culture through a variety of themed activities.

Our residents marked the day by baking chocolate and Guinness cake, followed by an afternoon of traditional Irish treats along with Guinness and Irish coffee’s all while listening to Irish music.

Our residents have all had a brilliant day today.

Red Nose Day

To support Red Nose Day campaign and their mission to end child poverty, we got involved in a fun-filled fundraising activities.

Through the power of entertainment and laughter, we raised awareness and life-changing funds for the children that need support the most.

Our residents enjoyed putting on red noses and making funny faces.

102nd Birthday Celebrations for a special lady

Celebrations have been in full swing at Stamford Bridge Beaumont care home as one of its residents reaches her 102nd birthday in style.

Jean was joined by staff and other residents as she celebrated her special birthday. Jean enjoyed a tea party in the morning followed by local entertainer, George England who performed in the afternoon. Residents enjoyed a drink of champagne and some delicious Birthday cake made by the homes Chef and team. It was a wonderful day and Jean thoroughly enjoyed her celebrations!

The homes Activities Coordinators teamed up with the local community to arrange for 102 Birthday cards to be made for Jean, and what a great success it was when the home received an incredible 255 cards. Families, relatives, schools, nurseries and local shops got involved and it was a beautiful moment seeing Jean spending time going through some of the cards received.

Jean was born on the 7th March 1920 and lived in Hartlepool before moving to York. In her early twenties she served in the Women’s Royal Air force before raising her two Sons, David and Ian. Jean moved to Stamford Bridge Beaumont in January 2017, where she is enjoying new chapter of her life.

The birthday girl, said: ‘A little bit of what you love does you no harm’.

Happy Anniversary to a wonderful couple!

Today we would like to wish a very special couple a happy 65th Anniversary.

Michael and Alice both reside at Stamford Bridge Beaumont and today are celebrating their special day.

Chef, Amy made a delicious cake for the occasion which will be enjoyed this afternoon over an afternoon tea to celebrate with Michael and Alice!

International Women's Day

Happy International Women's Day!

In recognition of the day, we commemorated the wonderful achievements of women around the world and celebrated with themed activities and music and lots of laughter.

Our residents took part in discussions about the role of many different women who have shaped history from Cleopatra and Boudicca to Florence Nightingale and Marie Curie right through to the Queen and Mrs Thatcher.

We spent the morning with some of our wonderful ladies who made up some beautiful flower arrangements to distribute to residents rooms and lounges.

Residents also received a selection of chocolates to enjoy with a drink this afternoon.

Residents enjoy a virtual tour of Cliveden from the National Trust Talks Service

We were treated to an amazing live virtual talk and a tour of Cliveden, hosted by the house and chapel guides from the National Trust Talks Service.

The volunteers kindly gave us a tour around the famous house taking an in-depth look at Cliveden’s many stories from its 350 year history, from devilish dukes to scandalous headlines and boundary-breaking garden designs to political notoriety.

Starting with the Duke of Buckingham who built the first house in 1666, our residents met the key owners who helped shape the house and its gardens including the Orkney, Sutherland and Astor families.

The talk was accompanied by an illustrated presentation which brought to life these individuals and showed how their influence at Cliveden still continues today.

We all had a brilliant time.
