Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Residents enjoy floral display demo

Staff and residents at Stamford Bridge were treated to an interactive virtual floristry masterclass courtesy of Master Florist, Michal Kowalski, from Blooming Haus.    Blooming Haus started with a small pop-up shop in Chelsea.  They have since blossomed spectacularly on to the floristry scene as ‘floral engineers’, carving themselves an outstanding reputation as one of the UK’s most innovative floral design studios.

Mini bus trips return!

Residents have been delighted to be getting back out and about on our mini bus which has been amazing, we have enjoyed trips all over the East of Yorkshire with picnics, or even getting fish and chips for lunch, our recent trip took us to Thornton le Dale where residents enjoyed an ice cream and took advantage of the dry weather.

30-days of Wildlife

Stamford Bridge have signed up for the 30 days wildlife pack from the Wildlife Trusts, one of the activities consisted of collecting certain objects from the garden, Resident, Bob went out with a member of staff and was able to find everything on the table, this opened up many conversations when taken back to show residents.

National Bee Day

National Bee day on the 20th May was celebrated at Stamford Bridge Beaumont with a game of ‘Bee Drive’ which was adapted from the popular game Beetle Drive, this game brought back memories which residents shared, one residents remembered playing at a birthday party as a child, it was a wonderful albeit competitive afternoon.
