Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Life at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

Celebrating Cadbury's 200th Birthday

Residents across our services had a wonderful time joining Cadbury for an interactive virtual talk on their fascinating 200-year history.

Residents joining learnt interesting facts about the chocolate giant, shared memories, and reminisced about their favourite sweet treats.

It was a heart-warming experience filled with laughter, nostalgia, and plenty of chocolatey goodness!

Afternoon Tea With the Fire Brigade

Residents, colleagues and visitors at the Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home in Stamford Bridge were delighted to welcome our local fire brigade for afternoon tea.

Our North Yorkshire Fire Brigade spoke to our residents and visitors about their day to lives in the fire service and news from the local community whilst enjoying tea and cake together in the homes café area.

The most excitement came when our residents undeterred by the rain, were able to get a close up look of the fire engine.

Harmony in Music

We were delighted to welcome back the hugely popular Micheal and Judith Cooper.

The wonderful husband and wife duo wowed their audience with a series of beautiful renditions from 'Swan Lake', 'The Sound of Music' and many more.

It was a wonderful and calming experience to watch Judith on the Cello and Michael on the Piano.

Our activities team provided refreshing glasses of fruit flavoured punch for our audience and guests.

Meeting the baby lambs

The residents of Stamford Bridge were delighted to welcome the baby lambs into our home courtesy of the Ryedale Animal Group.

It was heartwarming to watch our residents, relatives and guests having cuddles with the lambs and being able to bottle feed them.

Everyone had such a wonderful time.

Come sing!

Residents across our homes and hospitals had a fantastic time with vocal coach Dan Cooper from Biiah as he led an amazing sing-a-long session for residents to enjoy.

Residents who joined the event were able to learn different techniques as they sang the famous ‘I Can See Clearly Now’ by Jimmy Cliff and ‘Here Comes the Sun’ by The Beatles.

Across our homes there were smiles and laugher all around. The session was such a success and was great for the mind, body and soul.

Welcoming Our New Arrivals

Staff, residents and their guests at Barchester’s Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home, in Stamford Bridge, York were celebrating the birth of baby chicks this week at the home.

There was a lot of egg-citement at the home as eight chicks hatched throughout the week. Residents were able to pet and feed the chicks as they found their footing in their new home. The new additions will also be visited by the children from the local Muddy Boots Nursery from the local primary school who stopped in to meet the new arrivals.
