Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Summer Fair at Stamford Bridge

On Saturday 24th June, we held our summer fair here at the home. We had lots of things going on throughout the day such as activities for the children to take part in, our own stall which showcased cakes from our chef Dawn (which were fabulous as per usual!) plus stalls from out of the home. We also had our own sweet stall and tombola, where prizes were donated by staff and relatives - thank you to all who donated, we really appreciate it! Overall we made over £200 towards our residents fund! I would like to also thank all the staff, relatives and volunteers for helping and for making it such a lovely day!

Scarecrow Weekend

Scarecrow Weekend

Here at the Beaumont, we love to get involved with stuff going on in our local village. Recently, they had a scarecrow weekend; lots of people made funny scarecrows all around the village and showed them off to people. Residents and staff on our residential community made a Humpty Dumpty scarecrow for this occasion and had great pleasure in showing it off.

Our Fabulous Singer

Our Fabulous Singer

We had a fabulous afternoon with George England, who came to entertain folks at the home; we all sang along and danced the afternoon away. One of the ladies spent all the time dancing - it was so lovely to share this moment with her. She told us how her and her husband used to dance the night away for hours and hours back in the day. Helping someone to recall such good memories is a very rewarding experience.

Care Home Open Day

We opened our doors to the general public, who were invited to come and have a look around our lovely home.

We started the day with a coffee morning and gave tours to a few people; they were very impressed with the lovely atmosphere we have here at the Beaumont.

After lunch, we had a fantastic afternoon singing along with Ruth Strangeway, who came into our home and provided us with music and exercise sessions.

The day was a great success and appeared to be enjoyed by everyone who stopped by.

Activity Afternoon

Activity Afternoon

We had a lovely afternoon over on our residential community recently. Activities Assistant, Libby, enjoyed doing arts and crafts with some residents, and we also had a game of dominos, which brought back some lovely memories - and we all had fun chatting about them!
