Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Life at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

Indoor Firework Display

Indoor Firework Display

This year, we thought we would try something different for Bonfire Night, so we bought some indoor fireworks for each community rather than having a display outside. The show went down a treat - everyone enjoyed them, and to finish the day off, our kitchen staff made hotdogs and jacket potatoes for residents to enjoy. A big thank you to Hannah and the staff around the home for making it a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Halloween Pumpkin Carving

Halloween Pumpkin Carving

Residents here at the Beaumont had such a lovely Halloween. Our staff decorated the lounges and we had great carving up some pumpkins. One residents said she wanted to make her pumpkin into a smiley face and the end result was fabulous that we decided to put them on display in our terrace lounge.

Ruth Sings at Stamford Bridge

Ruth Sings at Stamford Bridge

We had such a fun time with Ruth who comes to sing and dance in our home. We enjoyed playing musical instruments and having a good old sing along with her to some very popular tunes which residents all knew. Our star of the show was Les, who is pictured enjoying a dance with Ruth - he had so much fun and it was touching to see him clearly enjoying the moment.

Pet Therapy

Pet Therapy

We are very happy to welcome the lovely Lily to our Activities Team. Lily brings so much joy and happiness to our home; residents love to hold her and make a fuss of her and, as you can see, Lily really loves the attention she gets. A big thank you to Alex for bringing her in.

Our Trip to Dean's Garden Centre

Our Trip to Dean's Garden Centre

Even though it was a cold morning, we still decided to have a little trip out to Dean's Garden Centre. It was lovely to see that they had started to put the Christmas stuff out and we had great fun trying the musical toys that were available. We also enjoyed refreshments in the café and even took some beautiful pictures.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Here at the Beaumont, we love to support charities that are close to our hearts, so we joined in with Macmillan Coffee Morning and held a coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Our kitchen staff made some fabulous cakes, we served refreshments and we made a lovely hamper to raffle off. One resident - Ruth Miles - won the hamper and we raised £65 in total. A massive thank you to everyone involved for making it an amazing morning.
