Activities at West Abbey Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest, as well as visits from the Donkey sanctuary, musicians and entertainers. We also host evenings such as our Cheese & Wine evenings and BBQ's in the summer, that we encourage relatives to come to. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained. We encourage our residents to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can to ensure that life at West Abbey is fun and active for all.

Nikki Griffee

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I'm Nikki and I originally came to work at West Abbey in 2018 and have worked in various roles supporting our residents.

What I enjoy about my job is that no two days are the same and most of all, I thoroughly enjoy everyday activities with the residents including 1-2-1 room visits all the way to professional singers visiting us. A firm favourite of mine and the residents at West Abbey is using our mini-bus weekly and visiting local nature hot spots! I look forward to welcoming you to our home.

West Abbey creates their own Platinum Jubilee Pudding!

Excitement is running high at West Abbey as we have been cooking up a storm to enter the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pudding Competition today.

The competition is being run by Fortnum & Mason to create a pudding that the whole nation can bake for themselves and that will be served not only at Jubilee parties up and down the country, but to the Queen herself to celebrate her 70 years on the throne.

We put our heads together and donned our aprons to come up with a scrumptious pudding that we think encapsulates the Queen’s reign. Our fabulous pudding is called Strawberry Jewelled Crown with layers of crisp biscuit, chocolate and strawberry cream we are very happy how it turned out. As you can see we all enjoyed the tasting too!

Our Window Wanderland entry!

Residents and our activity team have been planning and working on our Yeovil Window Wanderland entry and its looks amazing! With spring around the corner our blossom tree brings a smile to the faces of our visitors when they arrive at reception and for residents in the dining room, fabulous effort team

RSPB's BIG garden bird watch 2022

The RSPB’s big bird watch has begun here at West Abbey! To start the event our residents got creative in designing there own salt dough bird feeders.

We then put our knowledge to the test with an A to Z of birds followed by a quiz all about our feathered friends!

We’re all ready to get our binoculars out over the weekend to spot as many birds as we can and report back on everything we see here in Yeovil!

New Year Celebrations
