Activities at Wilton Place Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Activities Coordinator & Dementia Champion

I joined the Wilton team at the beginning of 2024 following a career in education. I love getting to know our residents and their families and enjoy planning and delivering a comprehensive activities programme which not only supports their interests but also introduces new opportunities and challenges. There is nothing better than seeing the residents’ smiles and hearing their laughter. I am also a dedicated Dementia Champion. I'm on hand to offer help, guidance and practical solutions to families who need additional support.

The Joy of Singing

Singing releases endorphins and oxytocin, hormones associated with happiness and reduced stress. It can effectively combat anxiety and depression, providing a natural mood booster.

Wilton Place residents sang their hearts out when our regular entertainer Dave Dawson visited us recently. Music from across the decades was enjoyed by all and some residents couldn't stop themselves getting up to dance along.

National Cream Tea Day

Residents, family, friends and local community came together to enjoy a National favourite in the Great British Summertime!

All enjoyed an exquisite spread of scones, speciality teas, and delightful conversation. The joy was contagious, and the atmosphere simply buzzed with community spirit.

Poetry Group

Every fortnight, our poetry recital group meet in one of our lounges. Residents can share their favourite poems, often recalling from memory or just enjoy listening. So far we have covered a wide range of poets and genres which has generated discussion, reminiscence and often laughter.

Intergenerational fun and games

On a beautiful summer evening, Wilton Place welcomed Beavers from the 1st Wilton Scout Group. Residents joined the children in a range of activities in the courtyard garden and Bistro. There was lots of fun and smiles from all involved and after thanking the children for their visit, one of our residents presented them with their well-deserved badges.

Here at Wilton Place, our residents are able to demonstrate their creativity in a range of different activities. From relaxing still life painting to making beautiful personalised windchimes, there is always an element of fun and a sense of achievement.

Meet the Author

From librarian to crime writer.

Local author, Nikki Copleston, visited Wilton Place to give us an insight into her journey as a successful author and the inspiration behind DI Jeff Lincoln, the protagonist in all of her books. She welcomed questions from residents and visitors who recognised many of the locations in which the books were based and enjoyed reminiscing over homemade refreshments.

VE Day Celebrated in Style

A wonderful day at Wilton Place..... residents, families, friends and staff gathered in the Bistro for a street party style celebration. It was a heartwarming gathering filled with chef’s delicious homemade treats, great company, and memories of resilience and hope. Nigel joined us with his usual selection of toe tapping, hip swinging hits. What a wonderful tribute to a treasured generation that lived through the reality of VE Day, a great reminder of the joy in celebrating together.

Firefighters Drop In

At the weekend our residents invited the Firefighters from Wilton Fire Station to Wilton Place for coffee and cake to mark International Firefighters Day. We'd like to thank them for not only spending time with our residents but for bringing along the fire engines too.

This day honours the courageous firefighters who risk their lives to protect communities and the environment, and it is also a time to remember those who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The day serves as a tribute to the dedication and sacrifices made by firefighters worldwide.

All emergency workers are welcome at Wilton Place to take advantage of our Blue Light Pit Stop, drinks and homemade treats available at all times!

Fun in the Sun!

A visit from Wilton CE Primary School. Intergenerational interactions are so positive and valuable to all involved. We are always delighted to welcome the pupils and teachers that come to spend time with us, we have so much fun playing games with them all.
