What our families say on carehome.co.uk

"The warm welcome for all visitors is evident as soon as you come into Barchester Wilton Place Care Home. All the staff were keen to help in any way possible, it was obvious that all staff are proud to be part of Wilton Place team. The rooms are beautifully clean and every effort was made to enable my friend (coming for respite care) to be as happy/safe as possible. Thank you!"

"I agreed to come to Barchester Wilton Place Care Home because I needed to give my wife a break (she was having a long-awaited jolly) and fourteen days was the minimum stay and I'd heard of your reputation. I've enjoyed socialising with some of your residents and your lovely staff. Unfortunately, I had to be ambulanced back to hospital with a serious UTI which weakened me considerably and it was two weeks before I could return to you. I was encouraged to play the harmonica in the bistro which people seemed to enjoy and would return if required at Christmas or before."

"Contrary to expectations, my husband was pleasantly surprised at how much he enjoyed his recent weeks' respite care with you at Barchester Wilton Place Care Home as I was too. I feel we have both made new friends amongst staff, management and the residents. As is probably natural, I felt slightly guilty at not wanting my husband home too soon after his stay in hospital. As if happening, I went down with Covid so it was a blessing in disguise. I was more than happy with the care he received and know he would be happy to return when I need a break!"

"My mother had two weeks of respite care and we could not have been happier with the experience. The care staff were very kind and considerate, nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and the ambience and atmosphere of the home was comfortable, friendly and caring. We are already talking about another respite."

"My grandma has lived at Barchester Wilton Place Care Home for over eighteen months now and she is receiving the highest standard of care. The staff are brilliant, very friendly, kind, caring and know their residents so well. Whenever I visit, the atmosphere in the home is lovely, there are always homemade cakes and teas and coffees on offer. The home also puts on lots of fun weekend events throughout the year for the residents and really encourages families to get involved, making sure there is always something for the little ones to get involved in too!"

"I feel that my four weeks respite experience was long enough to gain a fair and balance view of life at Barchester Wilton Place Care Home. Every aspect of my needs at the time were fulfilled. I was graciously welcomed by kind, friendly staff. This helped me to settle quickly. All the staff were respectful, friendly and kind. No request was ever too much. Staff knew everybody's name and worked well together. As I needed to extend my stay, I had the experience of occupying two different rooms. Both were light, quiet and had good outlooks. I made a good choice in going to Wilton Place."

"I was looking to find a care home to allow my parents to relocate from Devon to be closer to me. My father has dementia and had been in a home for a year which catered for his basic needs but was not allowing him to thrive. This left my mother on her own which had a detrimental effect on her health and well-being. When we went to look around, it was clear that Barchester Wilton Place Care Home had put in a great deal of effort into making it very special. Mum chose a lovely room and she moved in with a few items from her house which has made it very homely. She's made new friends and her well-being is so much better. It’s such a relief to see her smiling again. My father then moved up so Mum can now see him whenever she likes. She knows he is being well looked after and no longer has the worry and stress of the last few years while trying to care for him on her own. All of the staff are simply amazing. Knowing my parents are safe, happy, well cared for and enjoying life again has lifted a huge weight from my shoulders."

"Mum started off with respite care but she has settled in so well that we are going to make it permanent. It really is a home-from-home. Mum is going to thrive in Barchester Wilton Place Care Home. The staff make us all feel very welcome and part of the everyday life of Mum at Wilton Place."

"Incredible environment and service. The manager made our visit so comfortable and the whole home is clearly run very well. All the residents seemed so relaxed, enjoying the facilities and looked after. The list of activities looked really fun and it's such a comfort knowing loved ones are living in a clean, well-organised, welcoming atmosphere."

"My mother has been with Barchester Wilton Place Care Home for over a year now and has been cared for very well over this period. She has good relationships with many of the carers and the meals are, in the main, very good. When I’m away I know that she is well looked after and safe."

"My Father was welcomed into Wilton Place shortly after the opening. He was to live there until late November 2023 and every day he was loved and cared for by the amazing staff. I mean from the chefs and kitchen staff who served great options every day, the maintenance staff who interacted whilst carrying out their important tasks and duties, and the housekeeping staff for whom nothing was ever too much. The care staff could not have been kinder, or more patient. Everyone in the specialist care unit upstairs, where he was, had their individual needs met whatever they were, music, knitting, artwork, and singing and dancing were amongst many of the joys bestowed on the residents. It was a hotel atmosphere from entering and being welcomed but with the helpful front desk staff, nothing was ever a chore. The manager and her entire team should be very proud of their achievements as I have never seen anywhere run so smoothly and with such attention to detail, forever grateful thank you."

"A warm welcome from the management when I arrived for respite care. My room was delightful and well equipped - adjustable bed, two comfy armchairs and a small table, an overbed table, wall-mounted TV, built-in drawers and wardrobe. A spacious and well-appointed ensuite was also provided. The carers were so kind and helpful and the food was good. The bistro was a lovely social space to chat and enjoy drinks and light refreshments at any time. A really special, purpose-built and designed care home."

"What a superb care home! Apart from being modern and purpose-built, it's the staff that make it superb. The chef and his brigade produced perfectly proportioned nutritional meals. The care assistants all smile and clearly love their work. The management team are friendly, professional and seem to enjoy interacting with the residents and staff alike. Thank you Barchester Wilton Place Care Home."

"My mother has settled into Wilton Place Care Home quickly and is comfortable, confident and happy. The staff are warm and caring, and responsive to her needs and my comments and questions. The home is brand new and furnished and decorated to a very high standard. The food is genuinely superb! There are not many residents yet, but the activities programme is up and running and it was lovely to attend a family Italian night this week, with food, wine and live music - everybody from my two-year-old to my 90-year-old mother had a great time! We are very happy with our choice for Mum."

"I came to Wilton Place 48 hours after a total shoulder replacement for 2weeks of respite care and it's been marvellous. Hotel accommodation plus very kind staff, giving me just the right level of help and care, with washing dressing etc until I was able to do it all for myself. And very nice touches such as a welcome card and flowers in my room on arrival."

"Wilton Place Care Home is a warm, inviting, excellent care home. My father moved in December 2022, following a stay at another local care home, to be closer to me and also because the facilities far exceeded where he was staying previously. The staff have been utterly amazing at helping him settle, always listening to feedback and queries and dealing with them in a timely manner. The care staff are friendly, professional and kind. Everyone goes out of their way to make him feel at home and are welcoming to family visiting. The facilities are immaculate, as to be expected for a new home but specifically the rooms large and airy, the furniture of high quality, the restaurant inviting and the food very good. There are great activities and the coordinator makes a great effort to ask residents what they would like to have put in place. It's lovely joining my dad for lunch or dinner at the home or stopping in for a coffee. His health and well-being have noticeably improved since he moved in."

"I was pleasantly surprised by my stay at Barchester Wilton Place Care Home. The staff were excellent in all fields I encountered which was a pleasure, not so often found these days. I am of the opinion that if I should return in the future for further assistance, the warmth and attention would still be there."

"My grandma recently moved into Memory Lane having been cared for at home 24/7 by her family, initially, this was for respite but she settled really quickly and enjoys sitting in the large windows to look out at the trees, birds, train line and garden. There is a great choice of food and she enjoys the dining room experience. The staff have been great in helping us to help her to settle and we have been welcomed to share information and work with the team which has led to a much smoother transition than we could have hoped for. I feel that the staff do know Grandma in just a few short weeks. In her time there she has bounced back from serious illness and this is in part due to their diligence and communication with us and the doctor. Her respite stay has now been made permanent because she is happy and we are reassured that she is getting excellent care."

"My grandmother has just moved in and is really pleased with the facilities and quality of care. Lovely building with great staff and food. Was really nice coming in for the first time and seeing my grandmother enjoying a Ukulele band for afternoon entertainment. Would highly recommend Wilton Place care home and feel happy knowing my family member will be in good hands."

"Thanks to everyone for making my mum feel relaxed and at home. The carers made mum feel really at ease, tea and cake are my mum's favourites and are in endless supply! Such a lovely and welcoming care home. My mum loves it, in mum's words "I feel special". I thought the transition from Mum being at home to being in a care home would be a difficult and challenging time. It's only early, but so far so good, thanks again."

"My husband and I stayed for 2 weeks in May as respite while our bathroom was being refurbished. We found the staff very welcoming and our rooms very clean and comfortable. Our bedrooms were adjacent which was good as my husband has dementia and is easily confused. We enjoyed sitting outside in the sun and taking part in various activities that were arranged."

"It is now just over 4 weeks since my mother (aged 92) has resided at Barchester Wilton Place Care Home near Salisbury. She started her stay as respite to see if she could settle and has now decided it will be her permanent home. This is a brand new care home (Opened Dec 2022) and my husband and I have visited many in the Salisbury area to find a suitable care home for my mother. This home is by far the best we have seen. The accommodation is superb, the decor amazing, the food excellent, the activities and staff perfect and I could not wish for a better home to look after my mother. Of course, none of this would be possible without the staff. From the start, the sales representatives, the manageress and the administrator have been professional, efficient, caring, helpful and really empathetic. All the care staff are excellent. I am totally relaxed and confident that my mother is receiving the safest and best care possible."

"My friend arrived at Barchester Wilton Place Care Home at the beginning of July and I visit her often. The staff are unfailingly courteous and helpful. The place is immaculately clean and a credit to the housekeeping staff. My friend says the food is excellent and her dietary needs are always catered for. Ten out of ten! And thanks to all the staff who work so hard."

"Our mother is a resident of Wilton Place, and we are so happy with the loving care she is receiving. Having been cared for at home until after her 100th birthday, we approached the prospect of a care home for her with great reluctance and trepidation when her care needs exceeded our ability to meet them. We need not have worried! From the moment she arrived at Wilton Place, she has been happy there, and we, as a family, who visit daily, have been so impressed with the quality of care she is receiving. Without exception, all the staff are brilliant: professional, yes, but also loving and caring and always ready to go the extra mile to ensure residents are happy and comfortable and treated as people with individual needs. We feel our mother/grandmother/great-grandmother is cherished at Wilton Place and that she receives respectful, excellent care for which we are very grateful indeed."

"We booked a respite break for Mum to give her a change of scene and to partly see how she responded to being in a residential setting. Mum has Alzheimer's but has been managing it at home. However, over the last six months, we have noticed her becoming withdrawn and not her usual jovial self. We felt that she would benefit from being in an environment where she would have people to talk to and interact with. Mum's stay went better than we could have expected. The staff are wonderful and we received a few updates from Wilton Place to let us know how Mum was settling in, which was very reassuring for us. Mum thoroughly enjoyed her stay and we have made a further booking for July. Considering residential care for your loved one is a difficult and stressful process. Wilton Place has made this process a lot easier for us. Thank you to everyone at Wilton Place for making Mum's stay such a positive and enjoyable experience. We look forward to seeing you again soon."

"My dad had deteriorated in all aspects of self-care after several hospital stays in the past year. It was as if he had given up on all things living. I to needed a break from the constant house visits and constant cleaning around him. The first couple of days were indeed bumpy, to say the least, but the team at Barchester quickly responded. My dad's medication was completely reviewed and the correct dosage was then administered. It was as if somebody had switched something on inside as his whole total outlook on life changed immediately. He socialised with other residents and thoroughly enjoyed the conversations and interactions. I haven't seen my dad this positive in many years. We have booked him in again for a stay in July whilst he moves house. I really couldn't recommend this care home and the team enough. Whilst a little expensive it's probably been the best thing we have spent money on in recent years. 5 stars from me. Thank you to the manager and your team."

"Since my husband died in March 2022, my daughter has been my main support. I booked 2 weeks respite care so as to have 24-hour care. I am generally in good health and mobile but I don't feel safe to stay on my own at home. All the staff were very welcoming on my arrival. I settled in as I became familiar with the daily routine. The food was excellent, I enjoyed the activities, especially the visit by the school children, the jazz and knit and natter. The location of Wilton Place is very familiar to me because my husband's office was in Erskine Barracks in the 1970's. I will be happy to return to Wilton Place for a respite stay when the need arises. I have already recommended Wilton Place to friends and neighbours in Wilton."

"My parents came to stay for Christmas, and my mum wasn't feeling well and ended up being admitted to the hospital. This left us managing Dad, who needs significant care, whilst also trying to visit Mum and support her. We needed some temporary respite care, so visiting the five best care homes in Salisbury and Wilton Place was by far our 1st choice. The facilities and set-up are extraordinary and the local nursing and administrative staff are so kind and lovely. The food is fantastic. Very sadly, my mum died suddenly on 5th January and my dad wants to try living at home in Essex again with a live-in career. However, if that doesn't work or his needs become too much, we will definitely be back. Meanwhile, the administrative team have been so flexible and supportive of our fast-moving situation. I couldn't recommend Wilton Place more highly."
