Activities at Adlington Manor Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Lynne Bowler
I joined the activities team at Adlington Manor in May 2017. Previously, I have worked as a tree surgeon and have had heavy involvement with the Guides and Brownies. I love participating in activities with residents, whether that's by driving the minibus on trips outside the home, or by engaging in themed days.
I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in our activities here.

Queen's Birthday Celebrations at Adlington
We celebrated the Queen's official 90th birthday with a tea party in the sunshine, lots of cakes, tea, music and a Royal quiz, which all made the afternoon a pleasurable one!
A Cruise Across the Canal
Last week was our first canal boat trip of the year on the Mary Sunley. We had fantastic weather and enjoyed a picnic on board, taking in the beautiful Cheshire countryside as we cruised from Poynton Marina up to Marple and back again.
Employee of the Month - March
Carol Shaw is our employee of the month at Adlington Manor. There were many nominations for Carol who has supported the residents with her wonderful care and skills.
Carol has worked here since 1998 and this her last month as a registered nurse before she retires. However, we are not losing Carol’s wonderful skills and compassion. She has chosen to work as a Senior carer until her next retirement, ensuring that the residents and staff benefit for her excellent care.
Adlington Manor's Grand Raffle
Cath Ritchie, Deputy Manager, won the grand Raffle at Adlington Manor Care Home! All the money raised goes towards resident fund.
Computer Lessons at Adlington Manor
Our computer classes with Age Uk are coming along nicely, so far we have learned how to search on the internet and send an email. Len had a laptop for this 95th birthday and we are hoping to acquire a computer for our Activity Room soon so we can put to use what we have learned.
St Patrick's Day
We celebrated St. Patricks Day in style with a coffee morning and Irish music followed by an afternoon of Accordion songs from John Jones MBE! Guinness and Jameson’s really got us in the mood to celebrate!
