Activities at Alice Grange Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Penny Allen
Hi, my name is Penny and I am the Lead Activities Coordinator here at Alice Grange.
I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities, leisure and lifestyle roles.
I love being part of the Alice Grange team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the residents' input into our weekly planner is important as it gives all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous passions and hobbies.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Alice Grange Care Home
Fun In The Sun
Tea, cake and a garden concert in the sunshine!
We had a fantastic weekend with one of our favourite entertainers performing in the garden whilst residents made the most of the sunshine.
Elvis Pays A Visit
Another wonderful garden concert by our favourite Elvis performer had the residents singing and dancing along.
Supported by the wonderful weather, the residents were able to get into the garden and onto the balcony to rock along with The King.
Music, movement and reliving great memories are some of the bedrocks of our Activities Team's brilliant work.
Seaside And Icecream
Residents are now able to enjoy outings in our minibus as well as walks in the local area and to meet their designated visitors outside of our home.
Last week some of our residents enjoyed a trip to the seaside at Felixstowe and an ice-cream. Getting out and about again takes some getting used to but trips like this are becoming more normal again.
Austin Is Back
Our favourite PAT dog, Austin came for a long overdue visit to see our residents today.
Austin makes friends everywhere he goes and knows that residents need a good tail wag and a hand lick to put a smile on their face.
Pets and animals can enhance the quality of life for many people; they can provide valuable companionship, stimulation and comfort especially for those living with dementia.
World Bee Day
World Bee Day was celebrated at Alice Grange this week with residents learning about the wonderful world of bees and enjoying the varied uses of honey. Delicious on toast and great for cooking with, but did you know it was also used medicinally in ancient times?
Residents swapped their favourite honey related recipes and discussed the ways to use honey as a great sugar substitute.
Bees are under threat and we need them for nutritious crops, such as fruits, nuts and many vegetable crops, so we have looked at the ways that we can support the local bee population. Whilst none of us quite fancy bee-coming full time Bee Keepers, we can ensure that we have a variety of plants and flowers in the garden that bees enjoy. We will also make sure we do not use pesticides or insect-traps.
Plenty of tasting occurred to try out the different types of honey, but as we all know Suffolk bees and Suffolk honey are the best!
Gardening Club
The green-fingered residents of Alice Grange have been making the most of the good weather to get the window-trays, greenhouse and flower pots looking their best for Spring.
Our gardens are a source of pride at Alice Grange, we are lucky to have wonderfully well-kept lawns and flower beds along with a well stocked greenhouse with a large balcony that overlooks it all. With many homemade bird feeders dotted around the grounds we are regularly visited by a variety of wildlife.
At the end of May we are opening our Reminiscence Garden which will be a beautiful, quieter space.
