Activities at Alice Grange Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Penny Allen
Hi, my name is Penny and I am the Lead Activities Coordinator here at Alice Grange.
I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities, leisure and lifestyle roles.
I love being part of the Alice Grange team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the residents' input into our weekly planner is important as it gives all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous passions and hobbies.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Vaccination Day At Alice Grange
Staff and residents received Covid vaccinations at Alice Grange yesterday.
General Manager, Andrea was overjoyed and said "This will make us so much safer after such a difficult year. This is the light at the end of the tunnel. The team has risen amazingly to the challenges of this year and I am so proud that we are taking this next critical step to help protect the most vulnerable."
Every resident received the vaccine with some remaining staff due to be receiving their vaccine on Monday afternoon.
Christmas At Alice Grange
Whilst Christmas was a little different from normal this year everyone at Alice Grange still had a fantastic day. We all enjoyed good company, great food, games, fun and lots of laughter led by our wonderful Activities Team and overseen by the Elf and Safety department.
Honoured By The Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk
The team at Alice Grange were honoured today to have received a Certificate of Merit for their outstanding work during the Covid pandemic.
General Manager, Andrea Crowley was mentioned in the letter from the Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk and the Suffolk High Sheriff as providing leadership characterised by creditable selflessness and sense of duty.
This leadership and dedicated teamwork is reflected in the level of care provided at Alice Grange. A rewarding place to live and work.
Amazing Kindness
We received postcard of kindness through the summer and now we have started to receive Christmas cards of kindness as well. It is wonderful that people around the community are thinking of the residents and staff at Alice Grange this Christmas.
One of our residents has also been anonymously nominated to receive a hamper of goodies. We have no way of knowing who organised this, but Dorothy was very touched by the gesture so thank you!
Merry Christmas Everyone.
A Visit By The King!
Elvis came to visit Alice Grange as a special surprise for a resident who is a huge fan.
The Alice Grange team organised a special surprise for Margaret who is a huge Elvis fan. We secretly arranged with Margaret's family to bring her eight month old great-grandson up for a visit and then surprised her further with an Elvis performance in the garden!
Elvis performed in our garden and dedicated it to Margaret, whilst wishing her well, and the whole home enjoyed his show. Residents and staff watched from every door across all three floors and danced along to the music.
The surprise show was a huge success and one we intend to repeat. It was even enjoyed by our neighbours who sang and danced along on the street outside!
Checkout our Facebook page for the video which will be coming soon.
Tea Dance And Donation
We have been invited by Snape Maltings Concert Hall to take part in their virtual Tea Dance and they have kindly donated a hamper of goodies to ensure that we get the full experience!
Early December usually means it’s time for a festive Tea Dance at Snape Maltings – bringing together care homes, local community groups and dancing enthusiasts alike to enjoy music, dancing, tea and cake.
This year, responding to the coronavirus restrictions, they’ve embarked on creating a Virtual Tea Dance suitable for all ages and abilities – and we’re sure that everyone will love it!
The 45-minute film included a seven-piece big band, a presenter and professional dancers, and certainly got everyone's feet tapping. There was an opportunity to learn some dance moves – with the encouragement that all partook in a slice of cake and a cup of tea too.
Thank you to Snape Maltings for the invitation and the hamper.
