Activities at Alice Grange Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Penny Allen

Penny Allen

Lead Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Penny and I am the Lead Activities Coordinator here at Alice Grange.

I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities, leisure and lifestyle roles.

I love being part of the Alice Grange team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the residents' input into our weekly planner is important as it gives all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous passions and hobbies.

Celebrating life at Alice Grange Care Home

Elvis was in the building

Elvis was in the building

Thanks to Harry Issac Presley, our residents were shaking, rattling and rolling with laughter. The tongue-in-cheek impersonator is much loved by all our residents and the interaction is clear to see.

St Patrick's Day

St Patrick's Day

Today, our home was all about the Irish. St. Patrick's Day is all about folklore, and it was a wonderful day for our communities to come together and enjoy a glass or two of Guinness.

With a quiz, a Cwili sing-along, and a chance to name the Irish tune, we finished the day with a reminiscing circle.

Spring has sprung

Spring has sprung

At Alice Grange we support and encourage our residents to continue doing the things they love whilst also making new friends. We hold regular activities that help or residents use cognitive and motor skills to provide holistic benefits that enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of residents.

Our Residents enjoy the gardening facilities at the home and got some early spring potting going this week. They can't wait for spring and utlising the green house to pot and as the summer comes grow some of their favourite plants and tomatoes.

At Alice Grange we support and encourage our residents to continue doing the things they love whilst also making new friends and exploring new adventures.

Elvis was in the building

Elvis was in the building

He was absolutely gold.

Our residents were up dancing on the very first song, and there was no stopping them. So much joy and laughter were brought to every resident thanks to Harry Isaac Presley and the HIP Operation.

Arty and Crafty

Arty and Crafty

At Alice Grange we know that being able to continue lifelong hobbies or interests is a key part of our resident's identities, and we make every effort to encourage and support each resident to be able to do so.

Our Lifestyle enrichment team hold regular art and craft classes for the Residents who love to create designs and paint artwork.

At Alice Grange we support our residents to continue with their favourite hobbies, and encourage them to share and teach others about these too.

Afternoon tea for Mother's Day

Afternoon tea for Mother's Day

Great mothers and great tea have one thing in common: they both provide comfort for the soul, and what better way to celebrate Mother's Day than to have afternoon tea and entertainment from the very talented Suffolk singer Gina.

A special Mother's Day

A special Mother's Day

Our Activities Team is dedicated to ensuring that we organise events that encourage our residents to host their families and friends at Alice Grange. Our home is always to open to loved ones who wish to take part in our life enrichment program.

To celebrate Mother's Day The Alice Grange team organised a high tea and the Chef produced a selection of home made finger sandwiches and homemade cakes and bakes. With entertainments relatives joined their Mother's to thank them on this special day.

Ensuring that we host events that relatives and friends can join is very important to us here at Alice Grange.

Evie's owls visit

Evie's owls visit

What a lovely visit we had from Evie’s Owls. The residents were keen to learn all there is to know about the Owls that visited us and how Evie’s Owls started.

Evie first got her interest in owls from a book that her father used to read her. It was about three baby owls. Evie-Grace Forsdick can always find a touch of magic at home thanks to her menagerie of pet owls. So much so that Evie now runs her own business, Evie's Owls, with the help of her dad, Mark.

National Hug Day

National Hug Day

A hug is a heart-to-heart conversation without words.

When school children from Orwell Park School come to visit, entertaining our residents with singing and story reading, it's clear to see the relationships building, and what better way than on National Hug Day.

Theatre Trip

Theatre Trip

Our residents enjoyed a trip to The Spa Pavilion in Felixstowe to see Neil Sands' Production of Christmas Memories.

Meeting with the cast after the show meant so much to each of them.

Intergenerational project

Intergenerational project

We are happy to be linking with Cederwood Primary School over the next few months through many activities, with our residents and the children joining together to create caring connections that bring our residents and the children from different year groups together.

The visits are powerful for enhancing the emotional, mental, and physical well-being of both the children and our residents.
Look at the fun we had today with a reading group, followed by wildflower seed ball making, which will be used in the gardens at Alice Grange and at the school.

A sunny day out

A sunny day out

Supporting residents to enjoy outings, shopping, meals out and other trips is a key aspect of the weekly activities calendar.

Our Residents enjoyed some sunshine and fresh air (at last) with a trip out to the river Deben. There were smiles all round and they truly enjoyed getting back to nature and the sunshine and fresh air.

Regular outings are just one aspect of our life enrichment program and all the trips we take are at the request of the residents. Our monthly activities calendar boasts a range of outings and entertainment.

Baking is the secret ingredient to happiness

Baking is the secret ingredient to happiness

Many of our residents enjoy baking, and the benefits of boosting cognitive function, promoting stress relief, and sparking positive memories.

These delicious cheese scones were enjoyed with an afternoon cuppa.

A Trip to the Library

A Trip to the Library

Supporting residents to enjoy outings, shopping, meals out and other trips is a key aspect of the weekly activities calendar.

The Residents of Alice Grange enjoyed a trip to the local Library to swat up on their favourite topics and reads. As part of our Lifestyle enrichment programme we ensure that our Residents carry on enjoying their hobbies and interests whislt they live at Alice Grange.

Breakfast with Santa

Breakfast with Santa

Each year, we open our doors to the community to invite them in to meet Santa.

This year, our theme was breakfast with Santa. Everyone from all generations enjoyed the live entertainment from Jayne Katrine, singer/vocalist, and breakfast with Santa.

It's really beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
