The last thing we wanted was for mum to go into a nursing home. Her health deteriorated and the decision was taken out of our hands.
Mum has settled extremely well at Arbour Court, this is a direct result of care and respect shown by all the staff. Mum feels safe and loved. She is always happy to see us but does not get upset when we leave. Despite having advanced dementia, she tells us that she receives wonderful care. She also tells us that meals are delicious; she has gradually put on weight since arriving over 12 months ago.
Mum also has advanced heart failure, kidney disease and other health issues. We feel the expert nursing care she receives has allowed us more time with her.
Provided it is safe to do so, the staff follow the resident’s lead, which avoids any unnecessary upset.
We are relieved and grateful that mum is receiving such wonderful care. Arbour Court is not just a nursing home, it is a home in the best sense of the word and the staff, whilst maintaining professionalism, have become family.

My stepdad went to Arbour Court for palliative care, the staff have been absolutely amazing and treated him with so much respect & kindness. They are so compassionate & genuine & went above & beyond to ensure his last days were the best they could be. He had a lovely room with a view of the garden & he could see & hear the birds singing. They extended their kindness to us as a family & gave us peace of mind that he was being treated well. We will be forever grateful to the staff, although he was only there for a few days it made the biggest difference, we cannot thank them enough

"The entire staff at Arbour Court are, without exception, brilliant, caring, professional, always cheerful and above all compassionate. They treat my husband with respect at all times and ensure he still has his dignity. The general manager and finance manager have been nothing but helpful. Although the fees are high, the home is good value for money because it gives the family peace of mind that our loved one is receiving the best of care. I cannot fault the home in any way. I would thoroughly recommend Arbour Court to anyone looking for a care home for a loved one."

"When my wife needed end-of-life treatment, my daughter and I visited Arbour Court. We were so impressed! The building was bright and clean and the staff warm and friendly. When my wife moved in, her room was nicely decorated, with good lighting and little touches, like photo frames provided. During all my visits over 5 weeks, I never saw residents treated with anything other than compassion and respect. My wife's team of carers were so caring and good-humoured, forming a lovely, even affectionate relationship with her and the family. A wonderful team of medical staff monitored her condition regularly and she received effective medication to control pain and distress. Her family and friends were also very well looked after; we could not have asked for better."

"Caring for my mum was an isolating experience - she looks well - she looks young - in shops & cafes, people had no time or patience for her & that experience isolated us both. Since Mum moved to Arbour Court, I no longer feel alone. I have 20/30 other people around me who understand and care! I became isolated from friends & family, & now I feel we've all become part of an extended family. The caring environment has benefited us all. Allowing residents to live with their dementia - live in their world is commendable - thanks."

"My wife was taken into Arbour Court one year ago. A difficult time for all due to Covid. Over that year I have found all the staff to be kind, caring and helpful. I have been particularly impressed by the Covid prevention measures put in place in general, and the extra precautions to handle times of greater need. I feel very comfortable with the care that my wife is receiving."

"We would wish to thank the manager and all the staff who worked tirelessly to make Armed Forces Day a huge success. Our special thanks goes to the activities coordinator who facilitated this special event on behalf of the residents and their families. The singer was in fine voice, with the residents, as they remembered special moments with their loved ones and friends with the song, "We'll Meet Again". And meet again they certainly did; he met his old school chum from Tintwistle. Who has made his home at Arbour Court Care Home, Buxton Lane, Marple. People danced, waltzes, marched and waved flags. The whole event was followed by a delicious high tea, sandwiches, cream cakes and glasses of Prosecco (non-alcoholic) toasted the special day. We then all retired to the garden. To witness a beautiful rose tree being planted by a veteran of the Royal Signals Regiment and another veteran of the Royal Navy. What a terrific day! Hip, hip, hurray. Thank you."

"Mum has only been in the care of Arbour Court for a short time. The staff are helpful, caring and can't do enough to help. Mum and the rest of the family have been made very welcome and feel very happy with the care and understanding received. The compassion shown by staff members is excellent. We know it must be very difficult at times, but nothing seems too much trouble. Thank you to all staff members for your support."

"My husband was a resident at Arbour Court for 16-months. He sadly passed away on April 27th 2022. I would like to thank all the staff for the utmost care and attention they gave to him during that time, which must have been difficult at times. They were always pleasant, and nothing was too much trouble. I would have no hesitation in recommending Arbour Court."

"Mum arrived at Arbour Court at the end of March to a lovely welcome by all staff, she was introduced to all the residents in the lounge. She appears to have settled in nicely and the staff are very caring towards mum and go out of their way to support her. Her room is very comfortable and she likes the view of the little pond. The staff are always friendly when you visit and keep you informed of any issues and let you know how things are going. I've been very impressed so far."

"Our family can only say a huge thank you to everyone looking after our Mum in Arbour Court over the last 8-months. We can see that she is well cared for in every aspect. She speaks to her carers with kind responses so we know that is how they treat her! It has been an emotional time finding a home and settling Mum in. "Since mum became a resident at Arbour Court, she is now pleasantly muddled and very settled. This is down to the excellent loving care she has received. The staff know their patients as people, not statistics and because of that have the gift of “reading” the resident’s needs without waiting for the resident to tell them. I miss my mum but I don’t worry about her as I know she is safe and receiving the expert care that we could no longer give her in the family home."

"The resident and I value the fact he is allowed the choice of remaining in his room or going into the lounge. He is always clean and smartly dressed and the meals are nicely presented, looks and smell appetising. I've omitted to tick activities because I don't know if he participates? Unfortunately, the is often the aroma of urine in the corridor having low ceilings, carpets and enclosed corridors make it inevitable sometimes."

"My father has been a resident since 2018. As someone who had no faith and trust in care homes, I can honestly say Barchester Arbour Court Care Home is amazing. The staff are beyond wonderful, caring and will do anything for you. Residents are treated with respect and as one of the family. In the last few weeks, upon my father's deterioration, it has been care on another level, they have made Dad and my family so comfortable, always providing refreshments, updates and friendly support and the ultimate care package to ensure Dad's last few days are as pleasant and comfortable as possible. I can’t thank the team enough and wouldn’t have a qualm recommending them as ‘simply the best’, you’re all amazing!"

"My mum is a resident at Arbour Court and after a very daunting experience looking for a nursing home for Mum, I felt a huge relief from the moment I walked into Arbour Court. My only worry was Mum wouldn’t get a place. Thank God she did. The whole atmosphere is caring, the staff are exceptional and treat residents like their family. In fact, it is one big family. Compassion, care, and interest in each resident is carried out in a professional calm and friendly manner by all staff. Management is outstanding and a credit to Barchester. "I would like to thank all the management and staff for looking after my best friend, they are all caring and will do anything they can to make the residents feel at home and at ease. It is a lovely care home, very clean and the lounges are very pleasant to sit in, the residents' rooms are lovely, meals are very nicely cooked and served with staff on hand to help others who need it. Plenty of entertainment and gardens for them to sit out in the nice weather. Would definitely recommend Barchester Arbour Court Care Home, one of the nicest homes I have visited."

"I just want to thank all the staff at Barchester Arbour Court Care Home. My husband has been there a long time now. When I go to visit him, the staff are all lovely, pleasant and I really feel they care for me as much as my husband. The home is beautiful and my husband is spotlessly clean even though he's bedridden. Very high regards to this place."

"My friend moved into Barchester Arbour Court Care Home just over two years ago and I have visited her most weeks since then. On every occasion, my friend has been very well cared for, well-presented, comfortable and as I would here for her. "My Stepfather, who had dementia, was admitted from hospital. Sadly he deteriorated quickly due to his illness. Although he was only at Arbour Court for six days his 'End of Life' care was outstanding with care for my Stepfather and consideration for the family. At every stage, we were kept informed."

"Care by the staff for my mother throughout her 33 months stay was first rate. The nursing and care staff were always efficient, caring and kind to my mother and to family, whatever pressure of work they were under. The staff always made time for relatives and were at all times compassionate as well as professional. They were also open and honest about mums condition and treatment and prospects. Having visited other dementia care facilities locally. I would say Arbour Court."

"During the last two years, Arbour Court have provided exemplary care to my mother who suffered from the latter stages of dementia. My mother was also at a very high risk of falling and had many other health complications. The care home manager was incredibly kind and sympathetic and was evidently liked by the residents as he had such a caring nature and showed great compassion, whilst being efficient and knowledgeable. The nurses and carers also provided superb care to my mother who was very challenging. Like many dementia residents, her condition meant that it was not always possible for her to look clean and well groomed, as she would often become aggressive or aggravated if they tried to intervene. Thus it proved best that only her essential care needs were met, to a very high standard, in order to keep her comfortable and safe. I have nothing but praise for the care she received and the attentive and thoughtful approach of all those at the care home. Thank you very much."

"Since the day my dad went into Arbour Court he has been looked after impeccably, both in cleanliness and clothing. His skin has never been so good, no more sores or ulcers. The staff tend to his needs and are always polite and caring with him. They take the time to talk to him even though he does not always respond. This home always smells nice and is clean."

"Due to the deterioration of mums dementia, it was an emotional decision to move mum into a care home, however, mum has now been resident at Arbour Court for over 12 months and is extremely happy there. Everyone at Arbour Court is warm and friendly generating a very positive and peaceful atmosphere and the genuine care they give is excellent. Everyone is treated with such kindness and respect and they consistently ensure mum and all residents are given the help and support they need 24 hours a day. After looking at many other care homes I can honestly say this is the best."

"After reviewing about 30 homes in 2010, my son chose this home after 2 others had been tried and found wanting. They have looked after my wife (with Alzheimer's) superbly well, both on private money and now on state funding. There was no shortfall fee and all the staff are very helpful and caring and I have even learned some Tagalog with their help. We consider this the best in the area."

"My husband wasn't with you long, but the time he spent with you was quality. The staff couldn't have been more caring. "Everything" about Barchester Arbour Court Care Home was first class, I just wish he'd been there longer. They evoke kindness itself to me and I never felt alone. Their quiet, calm way of dealing with things was an inspiration. We as a family couldn't fault the care they provided. "My father fell seriously ill some time ago and though staff in the hospital were kind and caring the way hospitals work meant he was moved around a lot growing confused and weak. Finally he was found to be too ill to return home but not able to benefit fro. further time on a ward. Thank goodness for Arbour Court. From his first day, over a year ago, he has known nothing but kindness, compassion and respect. His room is wonderfully personal and the whole place is well equipped to meet a range of needs. The food is fresh and the menu varied. It is not "home" but it is as close as we could wish. We are always made welcome and we have no doubt that this will continue."

"My husband is walking for England, when he first went in the home but the staff made sure he ate food walking about in there. They have always been wonderful people to look after him and keep him going. Unforunately because he fell over when walking he has now been in bed for 3 1/2 years because his body has deteriorated but unfortunately this is what happens in life. The new doctor who came to the practice 2 3/4 years ago is wonderful and comes to the care home to see all the residents individually."
