What our families say on carehome.co.uk

"I just want to thank all the staff at Barchester Arbour Court Care Home. My husband has been there a long time now. When I go to visit him, the staff are all lovely, pleasant and I really feel they care for me as much as my husband. The home is beautiful and my husband is spotlessly clean even though he's bedridden. Very high regards to this place."

"I would like to thank all the management and staff for looking after my best friend, they are all caring and will do anything they can to make the residents feel at home and at ease. It is a lovely care home, very clean and the lounges are very pleasant to sit in, the residents' rooms are lovely, meals are very nicely cooked and served with staff on hand to help others who need it. Plenty of entertainment and gardens for them to sit out in the nice weather. Would definitely recommend Barchester Arbour Court Care Home, one of the nicest homes I have visited."

"During the last two years, Arbour Court have provided exemplary care to my mother who suffered from the latter stages of dementia. My mother was also at a very high risk of falling and had many other health complications. The care home manager was incredibly kind and sympathetic and was evidently liked by the residents as he had such a caring nature and showed great compassion, whilst being efficient and knowledgeable. The nurses and carers also provided superb care to my mother who was very challenging. Like many dementia residents, her condition meant that it was not always possible for her to look clean and well groomed, as she would often become aggressive or aggravated if they tried to intervene. Thus it proved best that only her essential care needs were met, to a very high standard, in order to keep her comfortable and safe. I have nothing but praise for the care she received and the attentive and thoughtful approach of all those at the care home. Thank you very much."

"I haven't rated all option categories excellent solely due to the financial constraints Arbour Court have to work within, I'm in no doubt with sufficient resources staff and management would ensure all residents receive excellent care 24/7 365 days a year with excellent facilities and activities. I'm very impressed by the obvious dedication and commitment of staff and management to provide the highest level of care they can and how warm, welcoming and inclusive they are with residents and relatives. I'm confident my Dad is in the best possible, affordable alternative to his own home his condition necessitates. He settled in quickly, appears comfortable and content when we visit 2/3 times a week, hasn't once mentioned 'going home' or attempted to leave with us in the 4 months he's lived there."

"My husband is walking for England, when he first went in the home but the staff made sure he ate food walking about in there. They have always been wonderful people to look after him and keep him going. Unforunately because he fell over when walking he has now been in bed for 3 1/2 years because his body has deteriorated but unfortunately this is what happens in life. The new doctor who came to the practice 2 3/4 years ago is wonderful and comes to the care home to see all the residents individually."

"My father fell seriously ill some time ago and though staff in the hospital were kind and caring the way hospitals work meant he was moved around a lot growing confused and weak. Finally he was found to be too ill to return home but not able to benefit fro. further time on a ward. Thank goodness for Arbour Court. From his first day, over a year ago, he has known nothing but kindness, compassion and respect. His room is wonderfully personal and the whole place is well equipped to meet a range of needs. The food is fresh and the menu varied. It is not "home" but it is as close as we could wish. We are always made welcome and we have no doubt that this will continue."

"My husband wasn't with you long, but the time he spent with you was quality. The staff couldn't have been more caring. "Everything" about Barchester Arbour Court Care Home was first class, I just wish he'd been there longer. They evoke kindness itself to me and I never felt alone. Their quiet, calm way of dealing with things was an inspiration. We as a family couldn't fault the care they provided. I would recommend Barchester Arbour Court Care Home to anyone who loves their family and wants complete all round caring."

"After reviewing about 30 homes in 2010, my son chose this home after 2 others had been tried and found wanting. They have looked after my wife (with Alzheimer's) superbly well, both on private money and now on state funding. There was no shortfall fee and all the staff are very helpful and caring and I have even learned some Tagalog with their help. We consider this the best in the area."

"Due to the deterioration of mums dementia, it was an emotional decision to move mum into a care home, however, mum has now been resident at Arbour Court for over 12 months and is extremely happy there. Everyone at Arbour Court is warm and friendly generating a very positive and peaceful atmosphere and the genuine care they give is excellent. Everyone is treated with such kindness and respect and they consistently ensure mum and all residents are given the help and support they need 24 hours a day. After looking at many other care homes I can honestly say this is the best."

"Since the day my dad went into Arbour Court he has been looked after impeccably, both in cleanliness and clothing. His skin has never been so good, no more sores or ulcers. The staff tend to his needs and are always polite and caring with him. They take the time to talk to him even though he does not always respond. This home always smells nice and is clean."

"We, the family are extremely satisfied regarding the care, welfare and safeguarding of our father afforded by the staff and management of Arbour Court. We have total peace of mind and know the staff always follow procedure when informing us of any situations, mishaps, accidents or incidents involving our dad. (These are not multiple occasions but as mentioned - peace of mind)."

"Care by the staff for my mother throughout her 33 months stay was first rate. The nursing and care staff were always efficient, caring and kind to my mother and to family, whatever pressure of work they were under. The staff always made time for relatives and were at all times compassionate as well as professional. They were also open and honest about mums condition and treatment and prospects. Having visited other dementia care facilities locally. I would say Arbour Court."

"My mum was a resident at Arbour Court for nearly 4 years. During this time she was treated with kindness, compassion and a high standard of care. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for all their care to both my mum and family. A fantastic staff team, one to be congratulated for their professionalism and care."

"My friend was admitted from hospital on 9 February. She has vascular dementia and is very frail. I have found the staff to be caring, helpful and knowledgeable. As a result, her physical health has improved although she is largely bedbound. Communication is good and visiting arrangements very flexible."

"I believe my Mother is very well looked after and cared for. I did not tick value for money as I have nothing to compare it with. I am kept informed of any changes in my Mother's condition and have regular updates on her care plan."

"My Stepfather, who had dementia, was admitted from hospital. Sadly he deteriorated quickly due to his illness. Although he was only at Arbour Court for six days his 'End of Life' care was outstanding with care for my Stepfather and consideration for the family. At every stage, we were kept informed."

"Arbour Court do not tell me anything about what is going on regarding my loved one's health and welfare. My experience is that medication can be forgotten to be, or just not, re-ordered when it runs out which resulted in a really bad reaction in my loved one. My loved one has assessments or might need extra care, perhaps because of bed sores, or have other things, like injections, opticians visits or something similar and I am not informed. A carer told me that they are not allowed to change pads at less than six hourly intervals when I asked somebody if they could put a fresh pad on. When I have asked for help for my loved one on more than one occasion, I was told there is no one available. I will say, though, that there are carers who are really lovely, dedicated and excellent in doing a really difficult job. By the same token, there are one or two less than helpful. The building was purpose built and, I think it is very suitable. The food, again, is excellent."

"Mum settled into Arbour Court from the moment she arrived. She is very content and happy there. The staff are very caring, polite and respectful towards residents and their relatives. They deal with everything calmly and seem to have endless patience. The atmosphere at Arbour Court is welcoming. The staff are always friendly and they have a good rapport with the residents and relatives. It is reassuring to be able to entrust Mum's care to people who genuinely seem to care for each resident and who are stoically committed to their work."

"My husband's mobility has improved a great deal since moving to Arbour Court. The staff are very friendly and they treat each resident with the utmost care and attention, seeing to their individual needs with patience. My husband is enjoying his meals - particularly the homemade muffin with his afternoon cup of tea which is a real treat. Thank you Arbour Court."

"Mum has settled extremely well at Arbour Court following a very challenging time in her previous care home, due to her worsening dementia. The staff are lovely, very caring and thoughtful. She enjoys the activities and entertainment organised for the residents. It is a great relief for me that she is in such a lovely (and safe) environment."

"The duty manager has treated our dad with dignity, respect and with the care my dad deserves. He is always available to answer questions in layman's terms and in a way that explains how something may affect his quality of life. He is extremely knowledgeable and understanding in an area which is very complex and has, at times, received some bad press which certainly doesn't apply in this case. We couldn't recommend the home highly enough and are very grateful for the care received."

"My mother stayed from 29th December 2017 until 29th December 2018. The staff were fantastic, warm, friendly, kind and made us part of a family. I can't thank them enough for the way they looked after my mam until she passed away. They always had a smile on their faces - a brilliant home for my mum."

"I ran a voluntary exercise class at Arbour and was very very impressed with the warmth of the welcome, the caring nature of the activities team and they're willing to engage with my activities. Residents were clearly very settled and safe and, without exception, were called by name and treated with dignity. I was also very impressed that the home management team who took an interest in my work and were receptive to feedback. I cannot comment on all areas of the home, or on costs but its clearly a great environment. Thanks to all the team."

"I just wanted to take the time to write a review about all the fantastic staff at Arbour Court. My aunt has recently passed away with vascular dementia and she spent the last two years at Arbour Court after us really struggling, as a family, to find a suitable home as she was really poorly and displaying very challenging behaviour. From the moment my aunt arrived she was given fabulous care. Staff were patient and caring and it was clear my aunt felt settled. Staff have been amazing at supporting both my aunt and us as a family in the final stages of her illness."

"My mother moved into Arbour Court in February 2020 after her carer, my father, became seriously ill. I was worried about the prospect of my mother going into care but I needn't have been. From day one when I was given a guided tour of Arbour Court I was immediately struck by the professionalism and the friendliness of the staff. The feeling I got on entering was very much of a home where everyone is loved and treated with the utmost care, respect and dignity. My father eventually passed away at the end of February and my mother was admitted to Arbour Court permanently. It's clear from the conversations I have with my mother that she's incredibly happy there. She has company, support and activities to keep her mind active and good food. Her room is lovely, backing out onto a beautiful garden area. I really couldn't be happier with the whole setup at Arbour Court."

"My mum is a resident at Arbour Court and after a very daunting experience looking for a nursing home for Mum, I felt a huge relief from the moment I walked into Arbour Court. My only worry was Mum wouldn’t get a place. Thank God she did. The whole atmosphere is caring, the staff are exceptional and treat residents like their family. In fact, it is one big family. Compassion, care, and interest in each resident is carried out in a professional calm and friendly manner by all staff. Management is outstanding and a credit to Barchester. Thank you Arbour Court for helping our family to feel more at ease with Mum in a home, knowing she is receiving outstanding care."

"We would wish to thank the manager and all the staff who worked tirelessly to make Armed Forces Day a huge success. Our special thanks goes to the activities coordinator who facilitated this special event on behalf of the residents and their families. The singer was in fine voice, with the residents, as they remembered special moments with their loved ones and friends with the song, "We'll Meet Again". And meet again they certainly did; he met his old school chum from Tintwistle. Who has made his home at Arbour Court Care Home, Buxton Lane, Marple. People danced, waltzes, marched and waved flags. The whole event was followed by a delicious high tea, sandwiches, cream cakes and glasses of Prosecco (non-alcoholic) toasted the special day. We then all retired to the garden. To witness a beautiful rose tree being planted by a veteran of the Royal Signals Regiment and another veteran of the Royal Navy. What a terrific day! Hip, hip, hurray. Thank you."

"My father has been a resident since 2018. As someone who had no faith and trust in care homes, I can honestly say Barchester Arbour Court Care Home is amazing. The staff are beyond wonderful, caring and will do anything for you. Residents are treated with respect and as one of the family. In the last few weeks, upon my father's deterioration, it has been care on another level, they have made Dad and my family so comfortable, always providing refreshments, updates and friendly support and the ultimate care package to ensure Dad's last few days are as pleasant and comfortable as possible. I can’t thank the team enough and wouldn’t have a qualm recommending them as ‘simply the best’, you’re all amazing!"
