Activities at Archview Lodge Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Art class

This week's Art class was all about water painting. Our residents were inspired to create their own masterpieces and the final results were astonishing.

Painting can improve manual dexterity, it engages the mind, and it offers opportunities for socialising and conversation. We all can’t wait for the next class.

Happy International Nurses' Day

Today, our residents and colleagues came together to celebrate International Nurses Day, recognising the incredible dedication, compassion and care our nurses show every single day.

To mark the occasion and to say thank you, our talented chef prepared delicious treats and refreshments for everyone to enjoy. A big thank you to our nurses and all team members – you truly are the heart of our home!

VE Day Celebrations

Today we marked the 80th anniversary of VE Day in style by throwing a party to remember. Our home was specially decorated for the occasion with flags and bunting.

Our residents took a two-minute silence to honour the fallen and listened to wartime tunes.

It was a fabulous day, enjoyed by all. Flags were flying, hands were clapping and feet tapping.

Bird-watching

We got our binoculars and logbooks out to learn more about our native birds. We had a great time filling bird feeders and looking up what we’d seen to make sure we logged them correctly.

Last year, over 1 million people took part and between them, they counted 17 million birds! It was a lovely experience for everyone, especially the bird experts here.

My name is Neville, and I am a therapy cat. I help people cope with anxiety, illness and various disorders through human-animal interaction.

I love getting cuddles from the residents at Archview and seeing them every week! Neville is a much-loved visitor at Archview.

Mother's Day

Our home was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and bunting in recognition of Mother’s Day and all the mothers in our home. We had plenty of extra activities on the week leading to this special day, like discussions group about the role of mothers, reminiscing sessions about our residents’ childhoods.

During the day, we invited the family members to a Mother’s Day afternoon tea party. What a lovely day that was!

Easter Cake Competition

Our residents enjoyed making Easter cake decorations for our Easter cake competition. Our Chef, Meryem, said that it was great team work, and we are all very proud of the outcome.

As you can see, the cake looked outstanding, but the best part was eating it with a freshly made cup of tea.
As always, we’ve had an amazing time.
