Activities at Archview Lodge Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Diane Wood

Head of Activities

Hi, my name is Diane and  I am Head of Activities here at Archview.  I have worked in the homes since 2009.

I strongly believe in creating moments for our residents and embracing their individuality with tailor made activities, whilst remaining person centred and respecting resident’s preferences. Every day I like to ensure the residents on memory lane can enjoy themselves and have a good time whilst forming bonds with each other and the staff around them.

Outside of work,  I have a 23 years old son and a wee dog called Hugo and my ambition is to make people smile and be happy.

Life at Archview Lodge Care Home

Long awaited reunions

For some residents at Archview care home the long awaited reunion with family and friends became a reality recently, as garden visits have now been allowed to commence at the home.

There has been much careful planning and preparation for this moment behind the scenes at Barchester Healthcare, who run Archview care home. Social distancing was still in place, and homes that are able to take part must have a large accessible garden.

A blooming afternoon for Irene

Irene, resident at Archview enjoyed an afternoon of flower arranging to help decorate the home with summertime blooms before proudly displaying in her room.

After sorting the flowers to create beautiful arrangements in various vases Irene sat back to have a catch-up over a cup of tea and delicious slice of home-made cake.

A breath of fresh air

Residents of Archview took advantage of the recent good weather to enjoy the homes beautiful gardens and Oliver, resident at the home offered to help with the homes hanging baskets.  Everyone commented on how much better they felt for grabbing a breath of fresh air, feeling the sun on their faces and checking on the progress of the plants, including the colourful flowers around them.  The residents even enjoyed a refreshing drink afterwards as they sat back to admire their work.

Birthday celebrations

Residents from Archview took part in celebrations as they recognised a fellow Resident, Wilma’s 90th years young.   The birthday girl also enjoyed Skype time with the family who wished her a happy birthday.  At the end of the day Wilma’s room was like a florist with all the beautiful gifts and flowers she had received.  It had been a beautiful day for her.

A walk on the wild side

Activities coordinators, Sally and Diane treated Residents to a walk on the wild side as they served refreshments to residents dressed as a monkey and tiger to the amusement of all.  The trolley laden with fresh fruit and smoothies was wheeled around the home bringing plenty of smiles to all.
