Activities at Archview Lodge Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Music for the soul
Carers Fringe Festival
We are so excited to host our Fringe Carers Festival in a Las Vegas-themed afternoon.
Thank you to our sensational performers, Jacqui Randa, the drag queen, and Matthew Kerr, the juggling Gent - residents and families really enjoyed the show.
Ratho Barge Trip
On the 14th July we went on an exciting trip to Ratho Barge seagull trust crocuses. Our residents had a fabulous time travelling on the home’s minibus. They enjoyed a day spent on barge coursing on Scotland’s canals surrounded by beautiful views, followed by a scrumptious picnic on the barge.
All the residents really enjoyed the trip and can’t wait for the next one.

Carers week
Happy Carers Week!
We’d like to take this great opportunity to recognise and thank our wonderful carers here at Archview Lodge. We’re proud of each and every one of our care team for the outstanding care that they provide to our residents every single day. They always go above and beyond their role and for this we are truly grateful.
Messing about on the water
Archview Lodge care home, in Dalkieth, was full of excitement on Monday when they went on a Ratho Barge trip. Archview Lodge Care Home residents enjoyed a relaxing and calming few hours on a barge on The Union Canal. Surrounded by beautiful views and even better company.
World Photography Day
Archview celebrated World Photography Day with a crazy picture competition.
This day honours the art, craft, science and history of photography. It encourages photographers to share their best photos and appreciate the power of images in capturing memories and stories. Hope you enjoy sharing ours…

Wimbledon Championships
Wimbledon came to our home! We had a fun time following the annual Wimbledon tennis tournaments. We decorated our home with themed flags and banners, and our residents took part in our mini-tennis championship.
Our tennis fans were delighted to watch the famous matches virtually from the comfort of their armchairs, whist we all celebrated the event with an afternoon tea party. A lovely time we had by all.
Enable
Enable go Live at Archview!
This is where EnabLE (our new digital care system) comes in. It will help us plan, record, and co-ordinate person-centred care ‘in the moment’ using hand-held devices. Anyone who works within the home will be using EnabLE to record the important life enriching moments our residents truly value.
Art class
This week's Art class was all about water painting. Our residents were inspired to create their own masterpieces and the final results were astonishing.
Painting can improve manual dexterity, it engages the mind, and it offers opportunities for socialising and conversation. We all can’t wait for the next class.
Cool creatures
From a playful meerkat to slithering snakes and even a bearded dragon, the visit brought joy, laughter and a sense of adventure to our residents.
The interactive experience gives residents the chance to stroke, hold and learn about a variety of exotic creatures.
Extra special make-over for Mary!
Mary, who is one of our residents, decided to dye her hair ginger. Mary had been a natural redhead all her life and wanted to go back to it again. When she saw herself in the mirror, she said “I look beautiful. “
Gail, who is our hairdresser and visits us every Wednesday she was mega happy to be part of Mary's hair makeover.
Summer Fayre
During the Festivities of our Summer Fayre, we had some very well-behaved ponies visit us. Our residents in Memory Lane enjoyed a very close up visit with some Ponies during the Summer Fayre.
The ponies decided it was too hot outside and went for some shade in our very own Memory Lane. The residents loved the experience and were happy to stand and pet them. Maureen said they were beautiful animals.
Visit to Museum
Great wee trip to our local Dalkeith Museum,
Dalkeith was the centre of the large mining and agricultural area of the Lothians. The people employed in those industries needed all manner of equipment and domestic goods.
Dalkeith, the busting market town at the centre of Midlothian had an iron foundry, a brass foundry, a brush foundry, a carpet factory and plenty more. Residents really enjoy looking at all the memorabilia.

International nurses' day
Happy International Nurses' Day
Today, our residents and colleagues came together to celebrate International Nurses Day, recognising the incredible dedication, compassion and care our nurses show every single day.
To mark the occasion and to say thank you, our talented chef prepared delicious treats and refreshments for everyone to enjoy. A big thank you to our nurses and all team members – you truly are the heart of our home!
