Activities at Ashby House Care Home

Activities at Ashby House

Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to enrich peoples lives here at Ashby House. We stimulate people both physically and mentally by organising fun filled, group and individual activities to promote the well-being of those we support.

There are regular outings in our very own minibus and visits from PAT dog therapists, church services, musicians, dancers, and local school children. We also have our very own 'Good Life' gardening club, where we grow our own produce, which we then use in our cooking club. We also host weekly bingo sessions which are proving very popular and are growing in numbers.

We are now rated 'Good'

We are now rated 'Good'

We passed a recent CQC inspection with an overall 'Good' rating after being praised for a responsive, safe, effective, caring and well-led service. The CQC inspected the home on 22nd May 2018 and the report was released on 10th July 2018.

The report stated that, 'People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice. Staff treated people with kindness, dignity and respect and spent time getting to know them and their specific needs and wishes. Care plans reflected people’s likes and dislikes, and staff spoke with people in a friendly manner”.

Pop-Up Farm

Pop-Up Farm

Residents had an enjoyable day at Ashby House when we were visited by a pop-up farm. They got to see lots of animals up close.

We are now 10-60-06 accredited!

We are now 10-60-06 accredited!

Ashby House has achieved accreditation for a new standard of dementia care, which was developed by dementia care specialists at Barchester.

The 10-60-06 dementia programme will replace Barchester's current dementia care programme in order to ensure that the care services provided by our Memory Lane communities for people living with dementia are the best in the sector.

A huge well done to all of the staff, residents & families who have been involved in the journey to reach accreditation.

June Open Day

We were joined by Becky Marshall on our open day, who provided live entertainment for residents, staff and guests. There were also plenty of games and activities for our younger guests to get involved with, and lots of amazing food that was prepared by our kitchen team.

We would look to say a big thank you to all the volunteers, loved ones and staff members who helped us make the day a special one.
