Activities at Ashford House Care Home

Here at Ashford House we try to aim to cater to everyone’s hobbies and preferences, nothing is impossible! All our activities are designed to empower our residents helping them complete meaningful activities that stimulate them mentally, physically and emotionally. As well as sticking to 'mainstream' activities that you would normally find in this kind of environment, we aim to step outside the box with our provision. We think this is the best way of creating person-centred activities, as each plan is uniquely crafted around each individual, who are treated with respect and dignity in their choices and supported to take control of how they spend their time.

Sheeba Khan

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Sheeba, and I am an Activities Coordinator here at Ashford House.

Having a degree in Fine-Arts and a creative background enables me to plan person-centred activities according to the personalities and tastes of our residents here at Ashford House. I believe and work towards making a positive difference to their day to day life and I can honestly say this is one of the most rewarding jobs. I am really enjoying my role as an Activities Co-Ordinator at Ashford House.

Armistice Day

This year Ashford House payed their respects on Armistice Day both in the home and at our two local was memorials.  Several representatives on behalf of both our residents and staff at Ashford House laid wreaths at both Stanwell War Memorial and Ashford War Memorial to mark our respects. Our representatives were joined by Padre John who said a prayer with us at the memorial's.

Meanwhile back at the home our head chef Sharon and our care teams visited each resident with poppies and refreshment.  Many of our residents told us of their war stories and remembered their loved ones and friends from their war days.  It really was a beautiful day at Ashford House.

Remembrance Day

Ashford House Care Centre have created this lovely colouring page for Remembrance Day. It could be coloured in and put in a window or displayed at your child school or nursery.  Great for after school activities and clubs. Please feel free to call us and we will send you a picture or a batch.  Alternatively you can find this picture on our Face book page.  Our residents would love to see your completed picture.

Ashford House Care Centre Remembers

Our Party this week was 70's themed

What a fabulous afternoon we had. The staff donned their 70's outfits as Ashford House turned back time and enjoyed a 1970's food , drinks and music.  The residents had such fun and made many music requests including Engelbert Humperdinck, Andy Williams, The Supremes, Dexy's Midnight Runners and many more. Our residents and team danced the afternoon away.

Ashford House's award winning chef, Sharon created fabulous food from the 70's including mini prawn cocktails, these were nearly as popular as Engelbert.  We were all in agreement time travelling is great.

Our Finalist for National Care Home Chef of the Year

Friday 30th October was a very special night.  Sharon Pearson, our Head Chef here at Ashford House, had made it through to the final eight of the National  Care Home Chef of the Year.  It was such a fabulous night, the champagne flowed and the food was all Sharon's favourites, when we zoomed through to the awards ceremony.  It was not to be for Sharon on Friday but we are all in agreement what an amazing honour it was to be recognised and make the national finals of Care Home Chef of the Year.  Thank you Sharon for all you do for the residents and staff , we are all so grateful.

VIP Visitor

It was such a lovely surprise for our MD, Natasha Lazovic to drop by to see how our staff and resident's are currently faring. Thank you Natasha for sprinkling the happiness, you are of course welcome anytime.

Wear it Pink Day 2020!

Yesterday the staff and some residents made a fantastic effort to celebrate 2020 'Wear it Pink Day'. Staff donated £1.00 to the charity to wear pink to work. In the afternoon the staff joined the residents for a party and a sing song.  The kitchen put on a great display of pink cakes and by popular request the chef made up strawberry ice-cream.  A good time was had by all.
