What our families say on carehome.co.uk

"As a family we are very happy with the care and attention our mum receives. Her behaviour can be very challenging at times due to her illness and she is looked after with the dignity and respect that she so deserves and we are forever grateful, it is much appreciated and very comforting to know she's being well looked after."

"Very impressed with the total presentation of the care home and facilities. Staff are helpful and attentive. The care home efforts of Saturday 1st July were excellent, entertainment and food very impressive."

"My parents are generally well looked after and the nursing supervision is of a high standard. It does give me peace of mind that my parents are closely monitored and any issues are acted upon. Care staff-there does appear to be a staff shortage at times and I get the impression of a high turnover of care staff."

"My mother has been a resident ar Barchester Ashford House Care Home for almost five years. During that time, the care she has enjoyed has been excellent - welfare and medical and the staff and carers have made her feel so welcome and included. The carers are so patient with her and take very good care of her even when she is being uncooperative. The home is kept clean and safe and the meals are varied and nutritious. I am very grateful for the support Ashford House Care Home give the residents and their families (especially during Covid lockdowns) and highly recommend the care home for anyone experiencing the devastating impact of dementia."

"My husband was cared for in Ashford House Care Home for six months, from September 15th to March 12th. He was so well looked after, everyone was so kind. He was treated with such devotion and dignity. He came to call Ashford House home. Ashford House became a second home for our dog and me too!"

"It's always lovely to visit Ashford House Care Home. I am always greeted so warmly by the staff. I am so impressed with the first-class care provided for the residents. The residents are always happy when I am here. Ashford house always provides a range of activities for the residents which I think is also very important, the activities coordinators are fantastic, interacting and dancing with the residents. It's always a pleasure and I always look forward to visiting Ashford House."

"I am very happy with the care my mum receives at Ashford House. She is very happy and the carers and all staff are brilliant. There is plenty of different entertainment going on; fetes, animals visiting and trips out in the minibus. There's a small shop/shed in the garden where all toiletries, cards etc. are free for residents. Would definitely recommend this place 100%."

"Ashford House Care Home has been amazing. The manager and the staff especially dad's carer have been so professional, kind and caring. I could not have asked for anything better. When the time comes I will hope to be a resident. P.s Everything is so clean! Very important."

"The care of my nan is top-notch. She is always well cared for and loved and fussed over by the wonderful staff, she is always kept nice and clean, staff are always welcoming to us and very approachable and informative. The cleanliness of the home is amazing, when you walk in it is always fresh smelling, never smells of old people's home, cleaning staff are always seen working as I imagine the cleaning never stops, amazing how they manage to keep it so clean. Hats off to the wonderful head housekeeper and her team and, as always, the head of unit nurse is amazing, we trust her 101% with Nan and, of course, another member of staff is always a breath of fresh air when she is on. Thank you all for the great care you give my nan."

"When I came to visit Dad, he was in the day room listening to the singer. Everyone, including Dad, was singing along; some were even dancing. It was so lovely to see. Some of the other people were telling of their experiences, which were very funny and entertaining."

"Bringing mum to Ashford House from another care home was like a breath of fresh air. The home is extremely well managed and every single member of staff is very pleasant, attentive, efficient and available as needed. All the carers are genuinely caring and the activities reputation is well deserved. Food is plentiful, varied and attractive with 3 three-course meals per day with additional sandwiches later in the evening for any residents who need food then. The home is extremely clean and well decorated and smells fresh. In the few weeks that mum has been there, her mobility has improved and I'm now confident that mum is in a place where she is being looked after to the best of their ability."

"Mum is doing well having recovered from cellulitis and a urinary infection not long ago. The carers and staff are doing a very good job of looking after her. The nurses also keep me up to date by phone, which is very helpful. It has been a difficult time for Mum, but the work and care of the staff in the home have been first-class."

"I visited Barchester Ashford House Care Home to see my friend's sister, now living in your care home. It was the family day, my first visit. I was so impressed with the effort all the staff made to ensure a happy and carefree day for the patients and the families. I was also delighted at the one-to-one relationship with those living in the home and their carers. They were polite, respectful and very caring."

"My father has been a resident at Barchester Ashford House Care Home for over one month now and I wish to express just how happy I am with the care he is receiving. The staff are tireless in their efforts to ensure my father's comfort and treat him as they would a family member rather than simply a client. I couldn't be more satisfied."

"We had to transfer dad to Ashford House at the height of the pandemic so it was not easy. The staff ensured we were kept up to date about everything so we were happy dad had settled in well. When were allowed to see him every effort was made to ensure our visits in the garden or Pod went smoothly. Dad seemed happy and content and we were aware that some staff went the extra mile to ensure he was well looked after in a friendly and dignified way."

"Recently the home care staff helped my husband and myself when he was taken to hospital, just for a few hours. They were so supportive. The carers are just that caring, not only for the residents but also for their families. The nursing staff are always available to help and answer any queros that I have had. My husband seems settled, and importantly, happy. The management isn't always visible."

"You have been so good to us, and to our aunt, our stay was not a long period but will remain with us forever. The staff were friendly and very kind. The last hours with our aunt were so memorable because the night staff did all they could to make it easier. We thank you so much."

"My dad has been in Ashford House for about 8/9 months now and I can honestly say, there has been so much improvement in him and his health. He tells me he is happy and well looked after. The staff here do an amazing job and look after Dad and others very well. You can see that residents are happy in their home and are being well cared for. The level of care, cleanliness, laundry, cooking and activities is well run and could only be improved if there were more staff to make that happen. I would recommend this care home to all families who have a family member who has Dementia as the care they supply is much better than what you can do at home, as it is 24 hours and you know your family member is being looked after at the highest level."

"At a very difficult time for everyone and Mum not wanting to go into care support from the whole team was excellent. Any problems that did arise were handled carefully with as little trouble to Mum. As for value for money, that's an issue the government should be looking at. It's a very unfair society. Working hard all of your life and then not being supported is a major issue."

"Dad had Alzheimers and had gone from living independently in February 2017 to being unable to feed or dress himself by June 2017. He had been in hosptial from Feb - June and it was traumatic to see him deteriorate. While at Barchester, he has begun to improve, to gain weight and was always calm and happy. This was due to the care and considerate attention he received. It was clear that he was always treated with respect and staff patiently engaged with him and encouraged him to eat. He was always clean and clearly well cared for."

"Since my 97-year-old Mother-in-Law had been under the care of Barchester Ashford house since October 2017 we as a family are extremely pleased with the standard of her care. Therefore, despite her ways and mannerisms and difficulties, we have observed, on our visits, how the carers have gone the extra mile to see her needs and to care for her in a meaningful way. We could not be happier."

"On first visiting the home we felt not only welcome but impressed with the knowledge of all the staff and how friendly they all were, plus the big thing the home did not smell of urine or bleach. The room dad stayed in was furnished lovely and always warm and clean. The lady who does the events was extremely good with dad and helpful, always a smile on her face. As one special carer always so caring and supportive to both dad and the rest of the family. The food was always hot and looked well presented and tasted lovely even though dad had to leave."

"Our mother was moved to Ashford House from another home. Ashford House was superior on every level - care, environment, facilities and administration. There was a friendly, open and honest way to how our mother was welcomed and settled in that was contrasted starkly with the self-protective caution of the other home. Excellent care!"

"Ashford House is a well-run care home, all staff are very caring, they provide all residents with great care - treating them with respect and keeping their dignity. The home keeps us well informed if there are any changes with my husband's health."

"Dad has now been in the home for two years. It is not an easy decision placing a loved one in a home but from the first time we entered Ashford House, there was a warm welcoming feeling. The main issue is a shortage of staff, especially the carers. Having said that I cannot fault the staff. I am always greeted with smiling faces and dad generally seems very settled. The nursing staff keep us well informed and are always happy to discuss any issues. The cleaners do an excellent job and the food is of a good standard. The activities team do their best but it is a shame that they don't have the time for one to one chatter. In short, a well-run home that would benefit from more carers."

"A really lovely home, good carers who show a great amount of dedication very helpful and always willing to listen to any worries/concern's we may have. Food is lovely and a varied menu. A new activities lady has joined the team so I would love to see more activities being offered. Also to use the garden more in the summer months. Overall, really happy with this lovely home."

"The staff are mostly very helpful, however sometimes if maybe we have more staff it would be more beneficial to the service user. I could not complain about overall care being given to my husband. The food is great, the home is clean, not smelling. The domestics are doing a good job. The management is supportive to me. The home manager is outstanding, she is very good."
