Activities at Ashlar House Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Rita Green
As the Community Engagement Lead and Lifestyle Coordinator, I will be spending time with each resident and their loved ones to build a detailed picture of each individual, so that each person’s stay with us is as meaningful as possible. Although I have been working within this field for many years, thanks to the uniqueness of each resident, I am always enjoying new experiences in my role. My goal is to create an activities programme that caters to the capabilities of residents, including, but not limited to, individual and group activity.
I've spent the past few years forging strong relationships within the community and developing a pool of talented individuals that can support our in-house team to bring out the best in those we care for.
As we never stop growing and changing, it is important that we maintain an up-to-date Getting To Know Me booklet. With your help, the activities scheduled for your loved ones will be as relevant and enjoyable as possible.
I’m very much looking forward to working with all of you.

Making Pearl Necklaces
Our Afternoon pearl ladies decided to have a go at making their very own faux pearl necklace which was hosted by Paul Webber.
Each faux pearl was carefully picked up and threaded through the wire one by one. The concentration by each resident was so intense you could hear a pearl drop.
Fun was had by all and the end result of the necklaces made were amazing. Well Done our pearl ladies!
The summer heat is over
The summer heat is over, we still cling to each other for warmth the same way the green leaves cling to their trees in the strange heat
of September, as if this time there will be no autumn.
The echo of our residents voices sang with a warming smile and laughter with our live entertainment.
Trying something new!
You are never too old to try something new even at your late 80's and 90's wow!!
Two lovely residents from Ashlar House did just that and went to have their first facial done in Epping Beauty Clinic Based in Epping High Street
The ambience was set ,soft music playing in the background while they laid down ,relaxed and content during their facial .
When asked how did they enjoy the experience both ladies responded it was worth the wait .
The reason they never ever had a facial done was due to lack of time and they never did wonderful things like that when we were growing up.
3 tiny kittens have lost their mittens and need Ashlar House residents to find them!
3 tiny kittens have lost their mittens and need Ashlar House residents to find them.
They searched high and low into the rooms they go ,climbing the walls and the curtains.
The residents held the kittens with care and cuddled them all to stop them from crying so loud .
Fun and laughter was enjoyed by all and the kittens forgot about their mittens as they made the residents smile and giggle.
New Season
Leaves and temperatures changes, as autumn falls, new colours and smells gradually replace the heat and long days that was summer. Autumn means the beginning of something new and crisp and familiar, each experience were shared by our residents at Ashlar House.
There’s No Place like Home
Glinda the good witch granted four residents of Ashlar House their dream to come true.
With her magic wand and the tap of the red slippers she took them over the rainbow 🌈 to tell her story .
The residents thoroughly enjoyed the day with singing and laugher .
Then afterwards they went to McDonald’s for meal and visited Buckingham Palace where the new King and Queen resides.
The whole Day was wicked and they all came back home in Glinda’s magic bubble safe and sound singing songs from the show .
