Activities at Beaufort Grange Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Celebrating life at Beaufort Grange Care Home

Easter celebrations

Easter celebrations

We enjoyed a wonderful Easter celebration filled with joy, creativity and community spirit. We spent time making delicious Easter egg nests together which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. We also hosted an ester egg hunt, welcoming children from the local community to join in the fun. It was a lovely opportunity to bring different generations together and share in the excitement.

On Easter Sunday, there was a very special visit from the Easter bunny, who brought smiles to everyone by gifting delicious eggs to our residents.

A truly egggsellent and memorable celebration for all involved.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day

Mother’s Day at Beaufort Grange was filled with music, laughter, and heartfelt moments as residents came together to celebrate.
A special highlight of the day was a visit from singer Johnny, who entertained residents with a fantastic live performance. His music brought a wonderful atmosphere into the home, with many residents singing along, tapping their feet, and even enjoying a little dance. Familiar songs sparked memories and created a real sense of joy throughout the afternoon.

The celebrations continued with a beautifully presented afternoon tea party, where residents were treated to a delicious selection of cakes, sandwiches, and sweet treats. The bistro was full of conversation and smiles as everyone relaxed and enjoyed the occasion together.

Families joined where they could, making the day even more meaningful, and there were plenty of touching moments shared between loved ones. For those unable to have visitors, the team made sure they still felt just as special, spending time together and creating warm, personal moments.

Mother’s Day is always an important occasion at Beaufort Grange, and this year was no exception. With music from Johnny setting the tone and a lovely afternoon tea bringing everyone together, it was a day full of appreciation, celebration, and connection.
A truly memorable day, enjoyed by all.

A haircut with heart at Beaufort Grange

A haircut with heart at Beaufort Grange

Beaufort Grange was proud to support an inspiring charity effort that truly shows the power of giving back.

In support of The Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides real-hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other conditions, Lucy, our Activity Coordinator, took the brave step of cutting off their hair for donation. What started as a personal challenge quickly became a community effort. Residents, relatives, colleagues, and friends all got behind the cause, offering encouragement, donations, and plenty of kind words. Thanks to this incredible support, the fundraiser raised over £370, all of which will go directly towards helping children regain confidence during an incredibly difficult time. The haircut itself was a powerful moment, met with applause, smiles, and a real sense of pride throughout Beaufort Grange. It sparked conversations with residents about charity, kindness, and helping others, values that sit at the heart of everything we do.

We are extremely proud to support The Little Princess Trust and to be part of a community that consistently shows compassion and generosity. A huge thank you to everyone who donated and supported this cause. You’ve helped make a real difference.

New Year at Beaufort Grange

New Year at Beaufort Grange

We welcomed the New Year at Beaufort Grange with plenty of energy, laughter, and fun. The celebrations kicked off with karaoke, where residents showed off their singing skills and cheered each other on. There was lots of dancing, smiles, and a great sense of togetherness as everyone joined in the fun.

To start the year on a positive and active note, residents then enjoyed a New Year walk around Stoke Park. It was a refreshing way to celebrate fresh beginnings, enjoy the outdoors, and reflect on the year ahead.

The day was full of joy, movement, and community spirit, a fantastic way to step into the New Year together.

Memory lane entertainment

Memory lane entertainment

There was plenty of laughter at Beaufort Grange during a lively visit from Memory Lane Entertainment, who brought music, magic, and festive fun to residents, visitors, and team members.

The interactive performance had everyone smiling from start to finish, with light-hearted moments and surprises keeping the atmosphere upbeat and inclusive. Residents enjoyed watching the magic unfold and joining in with the entertainment, while the team helped create a relaxed and joyful environment.

The afternoon ended on a high note, with everyone up on their feet, singing and dancing along to “The 12 Days of Christmas.” It was a fantastic shared experience that created lasting memories and plenty of conversation long after the performance ended.

Events like this play an important role in bringing people together and adding variety to daily life at Beaufort Grange.

Mini bus trips

Mini bus trips

During April, our mini-bus trips have been a wonderful highlight for residents, making the most of the improving weather and opportunities to get out and about. These outings are an important part of life in our home, offering not only a change of scenery but also meaningful experiences that support well-being and social connection.

Residents particularly enjoyed a visit to the local pub and sitting in the garden, where they could relax with a drink, enjoy the fresh air, and spend quality time together in a calm and sociable setting. Moments like these help to lift the mood, encourage conversation and create a sense of normality and enjoyment.

We also took a trip to Dobbies garden centre, where residents chose plants as part of the relaunch to our annual gardening club. This outing provided a lovely sensory experience, from the colours and scents of the plants to the simple pleasure of browsing and making choices. It also gave residents a sense of purpose and something to look forward to as they take part in nurturing and growing plants in the home.

These minibus trips play a valuable role in supporting independence, boosting confidence, and keeping residents connected to their local community.

St Patrick's Day

St Patrick's Day

There was plenty of laughter echoing through Beaufort Grange this St Patrick’s Day, as residents and staff fully embraced the celebrations. The highlight of the day had to be Lucy and Charly, who arrived dressed for the occasion in bright green outfits, complete with festive accessories that instantly brought smiles to everyone’s faces. Their energy was infectious, and it wasn’t long before they had everyone gathered to join in the fun.

In true St Patrick’s Day spirit, Lucy and Charly even attempted a bit of Irish dancing, much to the delight of residents. Their enthusiasm (and a few creative dance moves!) had the whole room laughing, clapping along, and cheering them on. Before long, residents were tapping their feet, joining in where they could, and sharing in the joy of the moment.

The home was filled with music, chatter, and a wonderful sense of togetherness. Residents reminisced about past celebrations while enjoying the lively atmosphere created by the team. Throughout the day, there were plenty of opportunities to sit back and enjoy themed treats and refreshments, giving everyone time to relax and soak in the celebrations.

It was one of those days that perfectly captured life at Beaufort Grange, full of laughter, connection, and little moments that mean so much. Thanks to Lucy and Charly’s efforts, St Patrick’s Day was not only celebrated, but truly brought to life for everyone in the home.

Virtual Talk on Birds

Virtual Talk on Birds

We had a lovely time enjoying the virtual talk on garden birds and bird watching today.
Anne and Liz both said how interesting they found it, and it sparked a great chat about all the birds we’ve spotted in our own gardens.
Liz shared a wonderful story about the murmurations she saw at Severn Beach, which everyone loved hearing about. From robins to cheeky sparrows, there were plenty of bird stories and memories shared!
Things got very enthusiastic when our activity coordinator decided the next step is a bird box with a camera… watch this space.
We’re also looking forward to taking part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, so there’ll be even more bird spotting to come!
A simple talk, great conversation, and lots of smiles – just how we like!

Father Christmas visits Beaufort Grange

Father Christmas visits Beaufort Grange

Beaufort Grange was filled with festive cheer as we welcomed a very special visitor, Father Christmas himself! Residents were delighted as he arrived to personally deliver gifts, bringing plenty of smiles, laughter, and Christmas magic with him.

Adding to the celebration was the wonderful George Reid, whose singing created a truly joyful atmosphere. Residents joined in, sang along, and enjoyed familiar festive favourites that brought back many happy memories. The combination of music, gifts, and good company made the day extra special.

It was heart-warming to see so many smiling faces and to share such a lovely moment together. A huge thank you to Father Christmas and George Reid for helping make this festive visit one to remember.

Memory Lane Sing-a-long

Memory Lane Sing-a-long

On the first Monday of the month, our home was filled with song and smiles as we held another joyous session of our Memory Lane community brought to life by the wonderful team from Golden Oldies Charity. Residents gathered in the lounge, tapping their feet, humming along and sharing memories as familiar tunes from decades past filled the air.

As voices rose, the room brimmed with warmth, connection and the affirmation that life here is about more than care, it’s about belonging, memory and music bringing us together. What a wonderful way to mark the start of a new month.

Enjoying the sunshine

Enjoying the sunshine

With the arrival of warmer sunnier days, we’ve seen a noticeable boost in the mood and well-being of our residents. In a residential care home setting, these seasonal changes can make a real difference – natural sunlight helps to lift spirits, encourage gentle activity and support overall emotional well-being. Even spending short periods outside has brought a sense of calm, comfort, and enjoyment to daily life.

We've been making the most of the sunshine by spending more time on our balconies or in our beautiful gardens, which has become a lovely hub of activity and relaxation. Residents enjoy sitting together and chatting in a familiar and safe environment. Whether it's enjoying a nice cold ice cream, a warm drink outside or simply feeling the sun on their face, these moments are incredibly valuable, and we have been making the most of them throughout April.

A wonderful step back in time

A wonderful step back in time

Our residents recently enjoyed a very special reminiscence activity with a beautiful Singer sewing machine made in 1920, and even more amazingly, it was made on a Wednesday!

This incredible piece of history was kindly donated by our manager, Cristina, and it sparked so many wonderful memories for our residents. Many remembered using similar machines themselves, while others spoke about watching parents or grandparents sewing at home, making clothes and repairing garments.

One particularly touching moment came from Barbara, who used to make costumes for amateur dramatics. Seeing the machine again reminded her of the many costumes she created over the years, and the memories were so special they even brought happy tears to her eyes. Moments like this show just how powerful reminiscence can be, bringing back meaningful memories and creating heartfelt conversations between residents.

A big thank you to Cristina for donating and sharing this beautiful piece of history with everyone.

Celebrating Elvis Presley's birthday

Celebrating Elvis Presley's birthday

What a fantastic time we had celebrating Elvis’s birthday today! Andy joined us for a brilliant Elvis celebration, and the room was absolutely buzzing. Residents were singing, dancing, and clapping along, while staff and residents proudly donned their Elvis masks and showed off their best moves on the dance floor.
So much laughter, energy, and pure joy, proof that the King’s music still gets everyone up and moving. Thank you, Andy, for making it a day to remember!

Flower arranging

Flower arranging

Residents at Beaufort Grange recently enjoyed a festive flower-arranging session, led by Master Florist Kathryn Delve, as part of a Christmas-inspired virtual event.

The demonstration was streamed live to Barchester care homes and hospitals across the country, giving residents the opportunity to take part in a shared experience while learning new skills. With expert guidance, residents created beautiful Christmas table centrepieces, choosing colours and textures to suit their own styles.

The session was relaxed, engaging, and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved. Residents took pride in their finished arrangements, which added a seasonal touch to shared areas around the home.

It was a wonderful afternoon that combined creativity, learning, and festive spirit.

Harvest fun

Harvest fun

Harvest Fun at Beaufort Grange! This week we got into the spirit of the season with our residents rolling up their sleeves and getting crafty. Mini-scarecrows were made, colourful leaves fluttered, and the bistro was alive with chatter and autumn treats. Smiles all around as everyone embraced the harvest theme.

One of our residents, Marina, even remarked how making the scarecrow brought back memories of family fun in the garden and John was laughing over a childhood memory of  scrumping and getting caught by the police. Time was spent together, laughing, creating and savouring the simple pleasure of the season. A huge thank you to all who joined in and made it such a vibrant afternoon of connection and joy.
