Activities at Beaufort Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Lucy Lock

Activities Coordinator

Hello, I am Lucy and I have worked at Beaufort Grange since 2015, starting as a care assistant I have progressed to senior care assistant and now into my role as an Activities Assistant. It's always a pleasure to keep the residents updated with community activities. What I enjoy about my job is making everyone laugh and keeping residents and staff entertained. You will often hear me singing as I walk down the corridor!

World Chocolate Day

Residents at Beaufort Grange in Bristol revelled in all things sweet on World Chocolate Day with a range of chocolatey activities on Tuesday 7th July.

Staff helped residents make chocolate bars and we decorated them with all our favourite chocolate treats.

Residents voted on their favourite version of the film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory – Gene Wilder or Johnny Depp? The original 1971 version won the vote, which residents enjoyed watching.

Royal Celebrations

For the Queen’s birthday, we had a special visit from the lady herself. We enjoyed taking photos and playing games with Her Royal Highness, and enjoyed a homemade cake fit for the Queen from our talented chef, Julie.

Carers Day

Beaufort Grange held a day of celebrations and gifts to thank care staff at the home who make a real difference to the lives of those in their care. Raji, the General Manager, spent days preparing and cooking a magnificent spread of food for all our wonderful carers.

Garden Family Reunion

Residents and their relatives enjoyed getting together in the home’s garden. There has been a much careful planning and preparation for this moment, and at this point, it is a limited and cautious approach, with not all residents being able to accept visitors, but only where we believe it to be safe. It was welcome news to so many residents, family, and friends, who were kept apart for so long, following strict government guidance.

Clapping for Key Workers

Staff at Beaufort Grange were joined by local police personnel to clap for key workers in the community. As a way of saying thank you to the staff at Beaufort Grange, Avon and Somerset Constabulary gifted chocolate eggs to all staff and residents at the care home. Beaufort Grange staff then joined the police to clap and cheer to express appreciation for the effort being made by key workers to keep people safe and well during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We here at Beaufort Grange are incredibly grateful for the outstanding services provided by key workers. We have been overwhelmed by the kindness shown by our local community. Many people have brought flowers and cards for staff and residents. We have also received homemade face masks, visors, and kit bags, which have been a great help to our staff.”

We are planning to host a garden party for our local community once lockdown has ended and it is safe to do so. We are looking forward to being able to see everyone and express our thanks for everyone’s efforts.

Nurses' Day

The 12th May 2020 marks 200 years since the birth of Florence Nightingale. Amid the current COVID-19 situation, we thought that this would be a perfect time to say a huge thank you to our nurses.

Beaufort Grange’s wonderful nursing staff were treated to lunch and drinks in the sunshine. Terry (a resident) gave a speech thanking the nurses for their hard work on behalf of all residents. Raji, the General Manager, also gave a speech expressing how proud she is of all of Beaufort’s nurses and the amazing service they provide to our residents.

After the speeches, the nurses also received video calls from family members of residents, thanking them for all that they do and sending warm wishes. The nurses all also received a boxed pen, engraved with their name, as a thank you gift.

A great afternoon was had by all!
