Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Shelbie Taylor
Hi my name is Shelbie, I am proud to be the Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.
I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor since 2017, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!
I have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home

World Mental Health Day
Today marks World Mental Health Day. This day is held every year to help raise mental health awareness.
This morning residents took part in a creative craft session whilst other residents and staff members were encouraged to write down their feelings and express what makes them happy and what makes them feel good.
Throughout the day some of our residents gathered together to share their advice and thoughts for staying positive and the importance of positive thinking over a cuppa and a walk in the garden which was a huge success.

Eyes down, look in!
It’s a bit of a chilly day today so we've been playing a spot of bingo in our cozy, warm living room.
While it’s a good giggle, it certainly shows the competitive streak our residents would have had in the bingo halls back in the day! We saw some new winners today, but as always bingo queen Audrey won the final game!

Coffee & Cake
This morning we held our monthly coffee morning - where we sampled the fantastic cake we made together yesterday!
The residents said the cake tasted delicious and was a great accompaniment for a hot cup of tea on this rainy day. Everyone is welcome to our monthly coffee mornings! We look forward to you coming along!

Residents lend their ears to live performance
Residents and guests at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home in Boroughbridge enjoyed a morning of grins with a live music performance that took place at the home. Rochelle Ayris Entertainment performed a selection of classic hits including firm favourites from The Sound of Music.
Residents joined in with the singing, and clapped along as the Rochelle performed her finale song Do-Re-Mi. The hospitality team at the home also provided a spread of sweet and savoury treats for everyone to enjoy during the show.

Garden Centre Trip
This morning we took a trip out to Thirsk Garden Centre to browse their fabulous selection of plants and flowers and to look around the Halloween and Christmas sections
Of course the trip wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to the cafe for a brew and a cheeky scone!
We had a fantastic morning out and about.

September Sunshine
This morning some of us headed out to Ripon Spa Gardens to enjoy the lovely weather and beautiful gardens they have to offer.
We took a walk around the park, visited the bandstand and read all about the history of the spa gardens. Afterwards, we stopped off at the cafe for a well deserved cup of tea and sampled their delicious scones! The sun certainly had his hat on for us today - we all had a marvellous time.
