Meet the Boroughbridge Manor Care Home Team

Our wonderful team comprises nurses, carers, activities coordinators, chefs, housekeepers and more. These people are here to ensure that residents enjoy their time at the home and are supported to live life to the fullest. Meet some of our staff below:

Susan Carter

General Manager

Hi, my name is Sue and I am General Manager here at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home. Welcome to our website!

Thank you for taking the time to look further into what we have to offer to you or your loved one. Here is an opportunity to look at some of our staff team in the home, who all play a vital role in day-to-day life.

I began my career in care in the early 1990’s initially as a care assistant progressing through to a regional support role and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the home.  I have managed multiple homes including as a turnaround manager.

I enjoy building teams and ensuring my residents are living the best life and very passionate about ensuring the residents receive the best care, experience.

I look forward to welcoming you to our home.

Lynnette Sellers

Home Deputy Manager

Lynette became a part of the Boroughbridge Manor family in the summer of 2024 and takes great pride in her role as our Home Deputy Manager.

She is dedicated to creating a positive impact not only in the lives of our residents and their families but also among our colleagues at the home. 

In her leisure time, Lynette enjoys walking, gardening, baking, and knitting.

Mark Shelton

Customer Relationship Manager

Mark has been a part of the Barchester family since 2014.

Having come into the company as a Care Assistant, later a Senior Carer, he then moved onto Activities, becoming Senior Activities for the North Yorkshire area and now as a Customer Relationship Manager.

Marks passion has always been found in wanting to better the lives our residents and to help them find and enjoy new experiences. taking great pride in supporting our homes and being there for our residents and families.

Within his role Mark supports our home with Community Engagement, building relationships with groups and charities in the area and supporting our wonderful activities teams with their home events.

Shelbie Taylor

Head of Activities

Hi my name is Shelbie, I am proud to be the Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.

I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor since 2013, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!

Myself, Leoni and Kelly have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.

Karen Garbutt

Head Chef

Hi, my name is Karen and I am the Head Chef here at Boroughbridge Manor.  I started here at the home in July 2024 and transferred from our sister home, Leeming Bar Grange where I was the homes second chef.

 I am passionate about the delivery of quality food and here at Boroughbridge Manor, we provide a wonderful choice of delicious and wholesome dishes. The food and the dining experience at Boroughbridge Manor is recognised as an integral part of the lifestyle here at the home and I am responsible for managing the catering team, ensuring they provide a quality catering service to all our residents, guests and visitors.

Thomas Howson

Head of Maintenance

Tom has been an integral member of the Boroughbridge Manor family since 2020 and takes great pride in his role as Head of Maintenance. 

He is dedicated to serving the residents, ensuring the home maintains the highest standards. He expresses his passion for helping others with great enthusiasm.

Outside of work, Tom is a devoted family man who cherishes spending time with his wife and daughter.

Adi Petre

Head of Housekeeping

Adi joined the Barchester Family in 2016 as a Care Assistant and was promoted to Head Housekeeper in June 2020.

Leading a team of housekeeping staff, Adi ensures that every room and living space is maintained to the highest standards.

Adi loves interacting with the residents and helping create a warm atmosphere in the home

Gillian Cavanagh

Receptionist

Gillian joined the Boroughbridge Manor family in the summer of 2024 and quickly became a much cherished member of the team. 

She loves to be the first point of contact for our visitors and greeting them with a warm welcome. 

Gillian speaks warmly about how much she enjoys interacting with and meeting people. 

Away from the home Gillian enjoys going for walks on the beach with her 2 springer spaniels. Domino and Zebedee, playing the piano and she loves all things paranormal.

Reshma Varghese

Senior Care Assistant

Hi, my name is Reshma I joined the Boroughbridge manor team in February 2024 having worked in other care settings previously as a senior care assistant. I thoroughly enjoy spending time chatting to our residents and learning of their favourite past times. I look forward to developing my skills with further training to help continue my development.

Lindsey Butler

Hostess

Lindsey has been an integral member of the Boroughbridge family since 2017, taking pride in her role as our home's hostess. 

She expresses her enjoyment of engaging and conversing with our residents and their loved ones, not only in the dining area but throughout the home. 

Beyond her duties, Lindsey's hobbies and interests encompass photography, drawing and painting, crochet, and tai-chi.

Nathan Quarmby

Care Assistant

Nathan joined the Boroughbridge family in the autumn 2024 and quickly became a much valued member of our brilliant care team. 

He speaks passionately about how much he enjoys getting to know our residents, their loved ones and how it is the greatest privilege listening to their life stories and experiences. 

Away from the home Nathan is a proud and dedicated family man and enjoys spending time with his his five children.

Kelly Marwood

Activities Coordinator

Kelly became part of the team in Autumn 2024 and was soon beloved by all, contributing as an activities coordinator to enhance the lives of our residents.

She expresses great joy in her ability to positively impact their lives and cherishes the smiles of the residents.

Outside of work, Kelly takes pride in leading a local girl guides group and relishes her walking excursions.

Robert Rug

Second Chef

I joined the Boroughbridge Manor team in 2016 and I work hard to ensure the residents individual dietary needs are catered for daily. I enjoy spending time getting to know the residents and their favourite dishes! I always look forward to themed events and assisting the activities team in providing themed dishes!

Yevgeniia Odnorog

Housekeeper

Yevgeniia has been a part of the Boroughbridge family since 2022 and makes up part of our excellent team of housekeepers. 

She takes great pride in getting to know our residents and their loved ones and is passionate about ensuring the home is as comfortable and kept to the highest standard for our residents.

Kiera

Therapy Dog

Kiera is our home's regular visiting therapy dog and is part of Therapy Pets Nationwide.

She is a beautiful and extremely affectionate 11-year-old black Labrador whom our residents simply adore.

Kiera loves a good fuss and is always excited to see our residents again.
