Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Shelbie Taylor

Head of Activities

Hi my name is Shelbie, I have recently been promoted to Head of Activities here at Boroughbridge Manor.

I have worked at Boroughbridge Manor for 7 years, I love making our residents smile. I get great satisfaction knowing I have made someone’s day better!

Myself, Leoni and Suzanne have created a wonderful culture within Boroughbridge Manor and we work together to give our residents the best possible experiences.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. We are extremely fortunate to have our very own minibus, we love taking the residents out for coffee, shopping and lots of fun trips out whether that be to the museum or the seaside.

National Dog Day

We had a fun-filled day celebrating our furry friends in recognition of National Dog Day.

Residents enjoyed the dog themed activity booklets and quizzes provided by Oomph Wellness whilst tucking into some delicious homemade lemon drizzle cake and butterfly muffins made by one of our resident’s daughter.

We spent the afternoon crafting for our themed day in September and watching the movie; Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

Pony Therapy at Boroughbridge Manor

We enjoyed another wonderful visit from Katy and Monet from KL PONY Therapy this week.

Monet is very loving and provides the best cuddles. He is such a charmer and spreads plenty of joy around the home! Thank you Katy Smith for another fantastic visit.

We can't wait for our next one already!

Musical Moments at Boroughbridge Manor

We had a fantastic morning with Maggie from Musical Moments.

Residents had a great time moving to music with a selection of sensory props.

We sang, we danced and we laughed!

Thank you Maggie for another great and engaging session, see you next month!

World Photography Day

To celebrate World Photography Day, some residents spent the morning outdoors taking photographs, whilst others had a discussion about their creative hobbies and brought a selection of photos from their own collections and talk about happy memories and past experiences. It was wonderful to reminisce and hear about stories from their past.

Throughout the day Activities Coordinator, Shelbie captured some special and precious moments of the residents.

It was a lovely day, enjoyed by all.

Music Through The Ages Tour with Sarah Deters

We had a brilliant time with curator Sarah Deters as she took us on a virtual ‘Music Through the Ages’ tour of St Cecilia’s Hall: Concert Room and Music Museum.

Our residents were thrilled to discover weird and wonderful musical instruments, hear their unusual sounds, and find out how instruments have changed over the last 500 years.

The virtual live event explored the world-renown collection of musical instruments on display at St Cecilia’s Hall, Scotland’s oldest concert hall.

A lovely time was had by all.

Sunday Fun day at Boroughbridge Manor

We finished off the crackin’ cress heads whilst engaging in lots of conversations and reminiscing.

In the afternoon we painted some kindness rocks that we will be placing in Boroughbridge to sprinkle some positivity around our local community.

Later we enjoyed the movie Summer Holiday in the lounges.

A huge thank you to one of our residents daughters for helping us make a start on our sensory garden by bringing in some of her herbs from her allotment, which was very much appreciated!
