Activities at Boroughbridge Manor Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

The walk took place over the Yorkshire Wolds, and to support the fundraising 2 bake sales were held. The home held one bake sale whilst a second one was held in the village where Lynnette grew up.  This is an event that Lynnette takes part in every year in memory of her father who was cared for at the hospice in 2019.

Residents, their relatives and staff were all very supportive and enjoyed getting involved in the selling and eating of the cakes!

The Joy Of Baking!

The Joy Of Baking!

The residents of Boroughbridge Manor got together this month for a baking master's class in making scones. Lead by our lovey resident Jenny, she guided us through the process of weighing, mixing, cutting and baking. Baking has always been a passion for Jenny and, as a home economics teacher, leading our class brought back great memories for her. Jenny said ‘although scones are fairly simple, it was lovely to see everyone getting involved and the smiles on everybody’s faces’.

Of course, the best part of baking is always the eating! Residents enjoyed tasting their freshly baked scones with jam and cream, and the smell of warm scones filled the air.

The residents now plan on making this a monthly session of trying out traditional home bakes.
