Activities at Caldy Manor Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. We encourage those we support to continue with any hobbies whilst they stay at home. We also hold group activities, such as exercise to music, sing-alongs, craft sessions and visits to local places of interest. There are also evening events, including cheese & wine evenings and race nights. We keep families up-to-date through our newsletter and notices that can be found across the home. Family and friends are always welcome to join in!

Celebrating life at Caldy Manor Care Home

Pantomime!
We had our annual pantomime this afternoon! (Oh no we didn't!) ... We did!
It was Jack and the Beanstalk, and we loved it.
There was singing, dancing and a goose laying golden eggs! And one of our very own made her acting debut as Daisy the cow. Very well done Becca. "Oh how wonderful" and "they must come back next year" were just some of the comments from our residents.
Huge thank you to Northeast Producers Ltd

Roller skating show
WOW! We rolled right into Christmas with a performance we hadn't seen before. BFD Ents, zoomed round our dining room and put on an amazing show!
We just couldn’t stop smiling and watching in awe at the talent.
We sang along to some classic rock and roll songs with a touch of Christmas.

Remembrance Day
We all gathered together to show our respects and held a two-minute silence. We watched the service on TV and then in the afternoon we sang some well-known songs by a spectacular singer, Jenny.
It brought us all happiness on such a sorrowful day, but it brought us together in song.

Murder Mystery at Caldy Manor
From hilarious plot twists to some truly Oscar-worthy performances, the night was packed with laughs, mystery, and fantastic acting from everyone involved.
A huge thank you to our incredible residents, staff and friends, especially Heswall & District Ladies Circle, for throwing themselves into the fun and to everyone who helped make this whodunnit such a roaring success. Safe to say… no one saw the ending coming!

Holy Communion
It is really important for us to support our residents in keeping in touch with the local community. Our residents look forward to our Holy Communion on the first Tuesday of each month.
Reverend Alex and volunteers from St Bridget’s Church come along and deliver a wonderful Holy Communion and then stay for a lovely chat with us all.

Christmas party
Christmas is always a Claus for celebration and our Christmas party was snow good!
We had a tree-mendous afternoon of singing and dancing.
The ukulele band got us up shaking our jingle bells with some old favourites and festive tunes.
Thank you to all those who helped us celebrate!

Calday Grammar visits Caldy Manor
Students from Calday Grammar school came to perform their musical talents with their chosen instruments.
They have visited a number of times, and we can already see the progress that they have made.
We have made friends with the students, and it’s nice to have a catch-up not just about music, but about other hobbies and interests.
We can’t wait to see them again!

Bonfire Night at Caldy Manor
We all gathered together in the lounge, dining room and garden after tea to light up sparklers with children from staff. It was such a joyous feeling waiting in anticipation for the fireworks to start.
The children spoke to residents about what they enjoyed the most about bonfire night. The fireworks where wonderful to watch. “This is the best firework display I have seen!”

The Romans visit Caldy Manor
The interactive session gave residents a glimpse into what life was like in Roman times, with authentic costumes, engaging storytelling, and historical facts about the local area.
One highlight came when the visitors explained that *Beryl* was a popular name in Roman times — much to the delight of Caldy Manor’s own resident Beryl, who proudly shared her name’s ancient connection.

Roald Dahl Day
Here at Caldy Manor, we celebrated all things Roald Dahl by learning all the fun facts about him and completing a quiz in order to win a famous Wonka Bar.
We hid some golden tickets around our local area with instructions to bring the golden ticket back to us in order to win a prize. Our lucky winners were thrilled, and it was so nice to bring some joy into the local community.

Christmas cake making
We had Louise, our friend who helps us with our baking activities, come in and help make and decorate our Christmas cake.
It was lovely to hear everyone’s traditions and how they made all their cakes with their families.
We learnt new skills in making edible flowers and leaves and using edible glitter to make the cake all sparkly.

Christmas shopping
In the afternoon we went to Carr Farm, a popular local garden centre near us.
They always have amazing Christmas decorations and set-ups. It really did get us in the merry mood picking out presents and Christmas cards for loved ones. We finished the afternoon off with a cup of tea and cake in the café.

Avalon School Visit
We love seeing the children from Avalon primary school. We made snails out of play doh, coloured in Halloween cards for home, sang some well-known nursery rhymes recommended by our residents and then finished the afternoon off with balloon tennis with our residents.
Intergenerational activities bring so much joy to our residents.

Trip out on a narrowboat
What a wonderful day we had, and we were lucky with the weather! We travelled from the Cheshire Cat to the Shady pub, a journey that took around 6 hours. We took lunch on board and then got off at the Shady Pub for a few pints.
The scenery and calmness brought joy to us all, including the staff.
