Activities at Caldy Manor Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators work together to provide daily activities suited to the tastes of residents. We encourage those we support to continue with any hobbies whilst they stay at home. We also hold group activities, such as exercise to music, sing-alongs, craft sessions and visits to local places of interest. There are also evening events, including cheese & wine evenings and race nights. We keep families up-to-date through our newsletter and notices that can be found across the home. Family and friends are always welcome to join in!

Virtual day trip

Residents at Caldy Manor virtually travelled to a location of their choice for a day trip.

Residents were asked where they would like to visit for the day and chose Paris as their destination of choice.  They kick started they day trip in Paris with an opportunity to see the Eiffel Tower, a portrait at Montmartre, or a lazy afternoon at the Marie Antoinette café before guests returned to the ship exhausted but happy and looking forward to their next adventure.  Everyone had a wonderful day!

Resident attends virtual wedding

Resident, Andie was delighted to be able to share her son’s wedding as family and friends watched the ceremony virtually from the comfort of their own homes due to the pandemic and travel restrictions.

Andie’s son Jamie lives in New York, and with very spur of the moment wedding in the desert organised in Las Vegas, Valley of Fire it was thanks to technology that Andie was able to watch, it was all very emotional but she was over joyed to see her son marry.

Birthday reunion for Joan

For some residents at Caldy Manor the long awaited reunion with family and friends became a reality recently, as garden visits have now been allowed to commence at the home.  Resident, Joan was delighted to be reunited with her son as part of her birthday celebrations having travelled a distance from his own home to wish her a happy birthday in person.

It was welcome news to so many residents, family, and friends, who were kept apart for so long following strict government guidance. Residents and their loved ones got together in the home garden for and the garden was fully of joy and chatter.

Hannah Roberts,  General Manager at the home, said: “This has been a much welcomed development in what have been very strange times. The visits are safe and organised, and it was wonderful to see how happy it made the residents. We will of course endeavour to keep up the high standards of care, and continue with our ever evolving life enrichment programme, to keep residents engaged. But this was a lovely day.”

Going for gold!

Residents and staff at Caldy Manor laced up their trainers and warmed-up for a fun-filled afternoon of games as they took advantage of the glorious sunshine.  Staff and residents showed their friendly competitive streak as they took to their marks in a selection of games, with the main event a game of balloon tennis match between the red and blue teams. After an energetic match, teams celebrated with a glass of Bucks Fizz as they received their certificates.

General Manager Hannah Roberts said: “We always encourage our residents to keep active. With Summer here we had a great opportunity to take advantage of the recent sunny weather and get outside to enjoy our gardens.  Our residents and their guests really enjoyed the day and it was lovely to see so many of them getting involved. It reminded all of us of when we were kids at school!”

Our Divisional Winner

Congratulations to Hannah Roberts, who has been named as a Divisional Winner in the 2020 Barchester Care Awards. Hannah is a finalist in the Customer Service Champion category, and has been invited to attend a virtual awards ceremony on 8th October, where she will find out if she has won overall.

Handmade Cards

Residents of Caldy Manor were delighted to receive a gift of beautiful handmade cards. It’s a great idea and helps residents to keep in contact with family and friends by post at this difficult time when visits can’t happen. Residents can choose their own cards which is really important.

On behalf of Caldy Manor, residents and colleagues would like to pass on their gratitude for being considered at this time of uncertainty and hope everyone stays safe and well.
