Activities at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Chalfont Lodge is a large care home and we have a diverse range of groups and events to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included. In the Lifestyle team we work hard to create a sense of community and ensure there is always someone to talk to and something to do.

Our residents help us to plan the monthly lifestyle programme, making sure that everyone has something they like, enabling people to keep up with life long hobbies or pick up new ones. We have long term projects like our summer parties, car shows, BBQs, craft fairs, Christmas shows to mention a few and residents can be as involved as they would like in all stages of the planning or just come along and enjoy on the day.

We love going out on trips, to lunch, shopping or to socialise with other local groups, we also have many people who come into visit us with church services, music, talks and support for our bigger events.

We have a fantastic team of staff and every department is involved in making sure our residents get the most out of living here. We have a brilliant music therapist who works her magic 3 days a week, running group and individual sessions. Our Physiotherapy team keep everyone fit and active, working with us to make sure everyone has access to sports and team games.

We have a full programme groups, events and clubs but none of it would be possible without our residents and their families, we all work together to make this a home from home and to keep laughter and friendship at the heart of what we do.

Alex Perkins & Louise Doyle

Activities Team

Hello, I’m Alex the Activities Lead at Chalfont Lodge, working with me is Louise Doyle. I've worked at Chalfont Lodge for 8 years now. I originally started off as a volunteer and fell in love with the residents, families and staff. Since then, I've been an Activity assist, Activity Coordinator and now the head of the department! Activities are my passion and I love creating an environment where all of the residents can thrive and do what they love!

Fit for The Queen

Residents here at Chalfont Lodge were treated to a live interactive virtual Jubilee posie-making masterclass courtesy of Ferndown Florists.

Sue and Nicole from Ferndown Florists showed us how to make gorgeous floral arrangements fit for The Queen herself using an array of flowers.

The residents had a wonderful time and I think we can all agree their displays look wonderful!

Mental health awareness week at Chalfont Lodge

Earlier this week, we had a lovely visit from one of our furry volunteers for Mental Health Awareness week.

P.A.T Dog Brontë comes and visits Chalfont Lodge every other Wednesday for lots of cuddles with individuals in their bedrooms.

Therapy dogs are sometimes called "comfort dogs." They support a person's mental health by providing attention and comfort. Their sweet demeanors and unconditional love may have a therapeutic benefit to all!

Gerrard's Cross Fire Crew

International Fireman's Day!

Earlier this week Louise visited Gerrards Cross Fire Station on behalf of residents and staff here at Chalfont Lodge Care Centre. We needed to say a big thank you from Chalfont Lodge to all fire crew for always being available and risking their lives for our safety.

We were delighted to visit Gerrards Cross Fire Station earlier to have a wonderful tour around the grounds and to present cakes in appreciation of their service to our community.

Choir Wednesday's

The Chalfont Lodge Choir are at it again every Wednesday, bringing the community together to celebrate music by singing alongside our fabulous Music Therapist, Louise Hamer.

Music gives resident’s stimulation and helps them to reminisce and enables them to socialise with others. They are able to interact and it gives some residents an opportunity to sing or hum along, even though they may not be able to find their voice, being part of the choir is good for their wellbeing!

Happy Birthday Chalfont Lodge

Chalfont Lodge care home, in Chalfont St Peter, has thrown a special anniversary party to celebrate 25 years of serving the local community. Staff, residents and guests commemorated this special occasion with live music and a splendid BBQ.

Chalfont Lodge has built up excellent reputations within its local communities. The home regularly holds events and activities for its residents and surrounding neighbours. The Lodge had an interesting existence. Possibly originally a royal hunting lodge, by the 18th and 19th Century it was used as a dower house to the main Chalfont House manor, housing various prominent families, most notably the local Hibbert family who were great benefactors to the village of Chalfont St Peter. Between 1931 and 1951 it became a girl’s day and boarding school. As well as its own tennis courts, swimming pool and stables the girls were also taught a huge range of subjects from scripture to Swedish Gymnastics. After the school closed the Lodge became a training centre for the National Provincial Bank, and then between 1978 and 1988 it changed hands again and became a fire safety training centre for AFA-Minerva. In April 1995 the old Lodge was demolished and Chalfont Lodge Nursing Home was built and opened to the public in March 1997
