"From the moment we arrived we were given such a lovely friendly welcome, and lots of smiles. We were very impressed with the bedrooms and the whole of the 'Home' was immaculate. The staff have been so kind and helpful always on hand a the touch of a button. The dining room, staff on hand to help and the food very varied and of a high standard. There is a Doctor on duty and problems are dealt with. The nurses are wonderful and kind."

"I was over the moon when I my ex husband was to move into Chalfont lodge last year, My daughters worked so hard to secure a place for him in this delightful care home. Although I have been his ex for more than 20 years I continue to care about him and his well-being and I have seen 100% improvement in his physical and mental health since he has lived in Chalfont lodge. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and the place is kept spotlessly clean and accessible. The activities are great and I'm also told that the cuisine is also. So a big well done!"

"Care after a hip replacement operation. Excellent care day and night. Physio essential to my recovery and was given timely effectively each weekday. When physio delayed management responded quickly. When I commented my room was noisy, management moved me right away. Good home good staff, good management. Great benefit from my stay for my recovery."

"I am very grateful we had x6 weeks with our aunty. It gave my husband and I great comfort to know Aunty was safe, warm, fed and cared for and only 8 mins away so we could visit her each day. Thank you and keep doing what you all do. It does make a difference."

"The management team made it very easy to be able to move my Aunty into the nursing home. The caring staff are incredible helping my aunt settle into her new home without distress. Chalfont Lodge staff have a passion for their work and care. Credit to the Barchester Group. My thanks to all the team for making my Aunts stay a pleasant peaceful one with laughter."

"The whole staff are exceptional, not only in terms of care, professionalism, attitude and willingness to help. From the moment anyone walked through the front door, nothing was too much trouble and the atmosphere throughout the home was very positive and welcoming. My mother-in-law was extremely well cared for and as comfortable as possible, making her last few weeks as nice as could be in the circumstances. If Barchester have an awards/recognition scheme, then I would happily recommend the home and its staff for an award."

"I’ve been in Chalfont Lodge for 4 weeks, unable to walk due to spinal cancer, and I’ve been impressed by the staff attitudes. Management ensures that everything runs smoothly by constantly evaluating things and improving them if required. They encourage the residents to have an input by listening to their needs. I’m delighted to say that after only 4 weeks in here, the excellent physios have got me walking again, with the use of crutches. By teaming my determination with their skills, not only have they got me walking again, but they’ve also given me the opportunity to enjoy an independent quality of life that previous physios couldn’t. The nurses and carers ensure that they treat the residents with care and compassion. Daily menus offer a choice of nutritious food. The cleaning staff ensures a high standard of cleanliness. I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home to anyone who needs the services they offer."

"I came to Barchester Chalfont Lodge Care Home to recuperate and have daily physiotherapy after a knee replacement. I was extremely impressed with my room on the ground floor with a wet room en suite. The dining room was pretty and inviting with proper linen tablecloths and napkins and the food was varied and beautifully cooked - the only thing to mention is that it was sometimes lukewarm but a minor criticism overall. My ultimate praises go to the staff - carers, nurses, physiotherapists, cleaners and admin. who could not have been kinder or more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they were always cheerful and smiling. I was only at the Lodge for two weeks but it made an enormous difference to how I was able to cope on returning home. Thanks to everyone who helped my recovery."

"Sadly my mother had to go into a care home and we had to very quickly find a suitable place. This home stood out compared to others that we visited. It was a very difficult time but the care and genuine love felt by the staff was amazing. They are professional and nothing was too much trouble. They responded to any feedback and helped us to feel relieved at leaving our mother. unfortunately, she passed away in the home which they managed with extreme care and we were able to be with her in her final hour. They were genuinely upset and shared our sorrow. Everyone is approachable has compassion the standards are high. When you are dealing with one of the most difficult times of your life you need to feel confident that you have given your loved one everything that they have deserved."

"I have been aware of this home since 2013 as my father was a resident between 2013 and 2016. There is a much happier and more efficient feel and good to see the manager has been in place for just over 4 years. I have stayed in touch with the staff since my father's death and it is clear the home is much more better managed now and a reflection staff turnover seems greatly reduced. My initial conversations with two members of staff, in particular, were positive and they moved incredibly quickly to accommodate Mum. I was immediately impressed by the senior healthcare and in dealing with background and medication. etc. The activities I have met have been great."

"I am always impressed by the friendly staff who seem happy to help with anything that is possible. Always made to feel welcome, offered a cup of tea and homemade biscuits. It is a joy to visit. I have not personally experienced the food but the menu looks good. Neither have I taken part in the activities but there are many, sometimes every day."

"My family and I are very pleased with how my wife has settled into Chalfont Lodge Care Home. We have found the staff to be very patient with my wife, very accommodating and friendly. We have noticed how the entire home is very clean and organised. My wife really enjoys the food, even eats custard now. This is something she would never eat going to Chalfont Lodge Care Home."

"As soon as we walk in the door, we are given a welcome by all the staff; they also ask how we are. Myself and my son are not concerned about anything, which we appreciate very much. The only thing we can say is there seems a shortage of staff at the weekends. We always enjoy the cup of tea we can have with my husband."

"The care home has good outdoor space and presents well. After an accident, my son was in a vegetative state and was cared in the residence for 3 years in one of the units. In the last 3 years, the staff has gradually reduced by 40%, this reflected in the care given to the residents. I had to visit and check daily my son's comfort, the care he required, and if his needs were met as he was unable to communicate. When he looked in discomfort I had to ask for painkillers to be given, if his skin had sores I had to ask for a doctor's assessment for creams to be prescribed, I had to check fluid charts if laxative was needed. My son had to sit on a chair supervised for 4 hours and the care home was struggling to assign a carer because more than often there was shortness of staff. Many carers are nice and helpful. The night staff is half of what it was 3 years ago and therefore pushed to the limit. The decline in nursing care contributed to my son's discomfort."

"Having visited Chalfont Lodge Care Home four years ago to visit a friend, I was impressed and when my husband needed care especially physio, I was determined this is where he would come. Standards had not changed and my husband progressed well. He came in on a stretcher and although he is 91, he is now able to walk with a frame. The home made our wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday special."

"My husband spent six weeks of intermediate care on discharge from hospital. Towards the end of this time he, unfortunately, developed pneumonia, so I was allowed to visit in person for the last week of his life. During this period he received brilliant care from all the staff involved and their kindness to me really helped at such a difficult time. The skill and compassion shown by the nursing and care staff were impressive and I would have no hesitation in recommending Chalfont Lodge to anyone needing care."

"My mother spent five weeks at Chalfont Lodge for respite care after a fall. The initial admission process was handled very efficiently and sensitively and she had a comfortable garden view room. Throughout her stay, the care my mother received was excellent, particularly the nursing care, physiotherapy and general support. All the members of the Chalfont Lodge team were caring, friendly and highly professional. Thank you!"

"Following a fall at home, my Mum was transferred from hospital into Barchester Chalfont Lodge where she has been for nearly 3 months now. She has had Parkinson's for 10 years and Dementia for 2 years and the home care for both of her conditions so well and professionally. The staff are wonderful and very caring for my Mum's needs and she felt at ease with them, straight away. The manager is always extremely helpful and assists with any questions, very quickly. We are made to feel very welcome when visiting Mum and considering all of the implications that Covid has caused, the home still works in a very efficient manner. Thank you to you all!"

"My husband is a spinal patient and therefore confined to bed or a wheelchair and has been in Chalfont Lodge for 6 months. He is mentally fine. He finds the staff caring and considerate. He is treated with dignity. Generally, he is happy with the food and there is a good choice. Because of his poor hand coordination, he is unable to do some of the activities but enjoys the music, both joining in and listening. He enjoyed being in the pantomime. He would welcome more church services, talks and games. He would enjoy outside visits. His room is small but chosen for its rural view. As a regular visitor, I find the staff helpful and friendly. Inevitably our family visits in the home have recently and regrettably been restricted to his room because of Covid. Where problems arise it is usually caused by a lack of communication."
