"Thank goodness you are taking care of my dad. He has had a hard time in other places and really, you have rescued him. Hos one to one carers are strong, stable, quiet and kind and he likes them. Thanks very much indeed: I hope he will soon be able to participate in some of the enjoyable activities. Living in Scotland, my mind is more at rest knowing my dad is here."

"Chalfont Lodge Care Centre has such good care that I've seen my grandma improve in leaps and bounds. The atmosphere is stimulating and she is always clean, dressed and tidy. Chalfont Lodge has brilliant facilities and activities, so our family knows when we're not visiting our grandma/mum/sister is enjoying herself and staying active."

"My son has been here for 7 years and despite staff changes the standard has been very good always. Yesterdays' BBQ as excellent - the food was plentiful, tasty and served by very helpful staff. My son has improved mentally and physically since his stroke and continues to do so. It is a happy, welcoming home and I enjoy coming here. Both my son's father and I have had very good help from staff when we have been taken ill at home. Thank you, everyone."

"Mum has settled so well at Chalfont Lodge and is so happy there. The staff are amazing, especially the activity staff team, who are ingenious when it comes to designing both group activities and engaging residents in one to ones. They are excellent at arranging special theme days - a pamper day was a huge success this month, and Mum has enjoyed an outing to a local large supermarket with them as well."

"My wife who has dementia was formerly in a highly rated care home that really couldn't cope when my wife showed signs of aggression due to the care homes GP withdrawing an important medication which the care home didn't inform me of. Now she is in Chalfont Lodge Care Centre and in addition to being able to care they are also very able to cope."

"On 14th of September, there was a boat trip up the river at Henley. It was well thought out and carried out. Much enjoyed by all. On 23rd of October, four residents were taken to a supermarket in Amersham and afterwards for coffee and cake. A very happy afternoon again. Well done to the activity ladies."

"I have found Chalfont Lodge a very good nursing home. The management is always very professional. The nurses are very efficient and carers are kind and caring. I would be happy for one of my family to come to Chalfont Lodge as it has a lovely atmosphere and I am always happy to come to visit here. I wish all nursing homes worked so well. They are a credit to nursing care centres."

"My father spent the last 4 months of his life in palliative care at Chalfort Lodge. He settled very well and remained happy throughout his stay, save for a couple of incidents with other residents that could not have been avoided. His key carer was amazing going above and beyond in every aspect of his welfare and we also felt supported by the team at all stages but especially when the end came and we needed it most. We are grateful for the true care dad received."

"My mum has been a resident at Chalfont Lodge for approximately 12 years. She has Alzheimer's disease. The care she has received during this time has been consistently outstanding. She is cared for and loved by the nurses. I am kept informed of her care, she is warm, clean and well fed. Her medical needs are all looked after so we have nothing to worry about. She is stimulated through regular activities and although she has advanced Alzheimer's, she is always included. My family and I have been devastated with the prognosis of her Alzheimer's and the home has supported us throughout the years. Thank you to all the wonderful staff."

"I have been visiting Chalfont Lodge Care Centre since early October. From the first time, the atmosphere was of calm and warmth. The staff are unobtrusive quick to respond with concern and care if needed. This was shown especially shown last weekend to my friend. Today a special buffet lunch was enjoyed to celebrate a very special birthday. It really made a memorable day for us. Then the care shown to all the residents coming to hear a group of children sing just exceptional. So thank you for the wonderful care knowing she is so well there and happy."

"Husband was in respite for 2 weeks in the dementia unit, his first experience away from home. Staff were kind and patient when he was admitted and nurses very attentive when he experienced a foot infection in the heat. He was well-nourished."

"My good friend has been in the home for 6 months now. She is 100% happy with everything concerning the care home. (She had a poor experience in another local care home). The staff are brilliant. The rooms are very nice. The home is set in a most beautiful, quiet countryside area. The food is excellent and plentiful. Activities are arranged, twice a day, most days. I highly recommend Chalfont Lodge for anyone considering caring accommodation for family or friends. Ten out of ten!"

"He seems to be happy and feels at home. Clothes in the wardrobe have been a problem, but this is improving. Please keep it up! We're not sure he gets enough outdoor exercise. We were promised a short daily walk. He does have suitable outdoor clothing. You seem to be looking after his general health well."

"My wife was admitted at the end of December 2017 and remained there until her death on 10th February 2018. She was totally dependent on 24-hour help as she could not use her limbs, talk or feed herself. Throughout this time she was dealt with in a most sensitive and friendly manner. The staff were also alert to her medical needs and responded with immediate and professional support. Knowing she was in such a reliable Home gave me the massive support I needed during this tragic and final part of her life. The way they dealt with her death was exemplary. Thanks to all the staff and their support during this saddest of times."

"My dear mum has been at Chalfont Lodge Care Centre for about 10 months, the change we have seen in her since her arrival has been nothing short of amazing. She is happier, more aware, more engaged and improved in every aspect, physical and emotional. The staff and their commitment to my mum's comfort and well-being are extraordinary. Living so far away (Australia) it is a huge comfort to know that she is in the best place possible"

"My stepmother died at Chalfont Lodge on July 14, 2018, after more than 6 years there. I was satisfied with the end of life palliative care, the coordination between the GP and Chalfont Lodge and the knowledge of the nurses on duty on the day she died."

"I can not fault the home, the staff, or the care my dad is receiving. However, the thing that has disturbed me immensely, was my son picked my mother up from visiting my dad one afternoon, and there was a funeral directors van parked in front of the main entrance. As my mum was waiting at the lift to take my dad back to his room, the lift opened and two funeral directors had a deceased resident in a bag, and transferred her through the main entrance, in front of visitors sat with residents, very distressing for all, including my son. Need to address this."

"My mother has a strong personality which her illness transforms into so-called 'challenging behaviour'. For this reason other care facilities have previously turned their backs on her, sometimes quite cruelly. From the time of her assessment for Chalfont Lodge (personally by the manager) she has been treated as an individual, with kindness and understanding and enabled to regain her dignity. Best is the feeling that staff in all roles see through the problems arising from age and infirmity to the lovely lady that my mother still is - and can sometimes helpfully remind me of that. After previous tribulations it is a great relief to know that she is now valued and well cared for in a happy environment that also offers high standards of cleanliness and catering. All this despite issues with staff retention and recruitment, which afflict the care system (as currently organised) as a whole."

"My stepson has been at Chalfont Lodge for 6-7 years. The care home is a very friendly welcoming place where the staff, from management down are first class. My stepson, with the help of physio, music therapy and many excellent activities is now walking with a frame and can feed himself with little assistance. As a retired architect in the public NHS sector, this is the best care home I have come across in my long career."

"My father is a resident at Chalfont Lodge. It was his birthday just before Christmas and we wanted to arrange a celebratory family party for 13 people. The staff at Chalfont Lodge were totally accommodating of our wishes and made the arrangements at this busy time of year. On the day, the staff had prepared a lovely table for the family in the dining room. The staff could have done nothing more to make the day a truly memorable celebration - just what we wanted."

"Residents of Chalfont Lodge Care Centre are generally facing extremely difficult personal circumstances. Despite this, the facility manages to maintain an air of "quite a nice hotel" which helps greatly with the resident's dignity. I hope I never need this kind of support, but if I do I hope I end up in Chalfont Lodge Care Centre."

"My husband is cared for by kind and thoughtful people. Staff have shown their professionalism when dealing with him by following up carefully when he needed observation and referral to other medical staff. The activities at this home are interesting and stimulating."
