Activities at Cherry Trees Care Home

Our activities team are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual social events for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest, including the local theatre, as well as visits from Pat dogs, musicians and entertainers. We also host bingo, quiz and knitter natter afternoons that we encourage relatives and the local community to attend. Our Gentleman's Club is also open to non-residents every Thursday afternoon from 2:30pm, join us for a tipple of your choice, we have plenty of snacks and chats. For the ladies, our beauty salon provides; hairdressing and nail pampering, you too can enjoy a drink and some well-deserved 'me' time. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Cherry Trees is fun and active.

The Euro's at Cherry Trees

Residents and staff at Cherry Trees care home in Alcester have been cheering on their home sides throughout the Euros. The home has been decked out with flags and residents have been enjoying all the action over the past four weeks. Everyone at the home has loved seeing Gareth’s boys progress so far.

Fans of the beautiful game at Cherry Trees were delighted to be able to watch this year’s fixtures after the disappointment of last year’s tournament having to be postponed. Residents and staff have had a brilliant time getting together to watch the matches and celebrate with a cold beer and footie-inspired bar snacks whipped up by head chef Chris Aston.

Debbie Osborne, General Manager at the home, said: “We have loved watching the Euros, we have watched pretty much all the matches – lots of our residents are footie fans. It has been fantastic to be able to cheer on all the home sides and especially England, we did amazingly well to get to the final.”

Resident, Ann commented: “Although we didn’t win last night it has been a brilliant few weeks of football. The lads did us proud and made it all the way to the final, they played their hearts out. At least we haven’t got long to wait until the World Cup next year!”

Well done Donna!

We would like to say congratulations, thank you and well done to Donna Johnson who has just received her 10 years of service award. Donna had worked so hard for us and is an amazing part of the team we can't thank you enough for the fantastic work you have done and continue to do. Thank you again!

Exercise sessions at Cherry Trees

Residents at Cherry Trees feel it’s important to keep up their weekly physical needs. One of our residents Ann said how much this has helped her mobility since moving into Cherry Trees and that she is "very happy with her improvement" and enjoys following More Life Health Seniors

We also hold Balloon Tennis for more fun exercise and what a perfect time with the Wimbledon 2021 starting

Exercise has been shown to prevent disease, lower the risk of falls, improve mental health and well-being, strengthen social ties, and improve cognitive function.

School visit

Staff at cherry Trees were happy to see the children from ‘Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School’ who came over to sing to us in our beautiful garden. Residents beamed with joy as they watched the group of talented children sing some fantastic songs to us that they’ve been learning for a few weeks. Residents happily waved their flags that we made to support the children and also choose a song to sing back to them. We would like to say a big THANK YOU to you all! It was such a lovely afternoon that put smiles on many faces. We look forward to continuing our connection with ‘Our Lady’s Catholic School’.

Carers Week

From the 7th to the 13th, we celebrated Carers Week. Here at Cherry Trees, we celebrated our wonderful carers with a party in our sensory garden.

The kitchen team made this delicious spread for us all and we got to try out our new bar. Everyone had a fantastic time and we can't thank all the staff at Cherry Trees enough for being amazing.

Everyone also received a box of delicious chocolates and a thank you card from Barchester Healthcare and Debbie, our General Manager.

The Sun in Style

We all got out to enjoy the sun in our wonderful new sensory garden. We spent the morning doing some arts and crafts creating lovely folded paper butterflies. Others had a go at Relish Aqua Paintings and scratch art.

In the afternoon, we were back out in the sun and had a great time with our seaside-themed quiz. We also found ourselves a little feathery friend who has built a home for her family in this little corner.
