Activities at Chester Court Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinator is dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Our aim is to make sure that our residents feel they had something to look forward to each day. We have a varied life enrichment programme, both in the home and in the community, and we always ask if there is anything different that residents would like to do. Residents and families approach our Activities Coordinator and comment on how much they enjoy what we do, so that we can continue to develop our programme to the benefit of our residents.

Lauren Corbett
Activities Coordinator
Hi, my name is Lauren and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Chester Court. I joined the team in December 2020 and bring a wealth of enthusiasm to the role. I have just graduated from university in July 2020 and have previously completed work experience at another Barchester home. During this work experience I discovered how meaningful and important activities are for residents and how they can help enhance resident’s lives. Therefore, I decided to become an activities coordinator myself as I feel this is such a rewarding role.
I love working with our Residents here at the home and getting to know them and their families so that I can deliver and support in meaningful activities, keeping them socially stimulated and active as part of our extensive life enrichment calendar. The lifestyle and continued community links are also important.
Celebrating life at Chester Court Care Home
VE Day Party
What a wonderful day we had celebrating VE Day with our residents, families, and friends! The home was filled with music as everyone enjoyed fantastic live entertainment and came together to remember and honour such an important occasion.
After the celebrations, families and friends joined us for a delicious 3-course meal with drinks, making it a truly special afternoon shared by all. A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day so memorable. It was lovely to see so many smiling faces and treasured moments being made together.

Residents enjoy trip to Alnwick Gardens
Residents enjoyed a wonderful trip to Alnwick Garden, taking in the stunning scenery and attractions during a day blessed with lovely weather.
The visit gave everyone the chance to explore the garden’s famous fountains and vibrant floral displays, with residents especially enjoying the colourful flowers throughout the grounds. One of the highlights of the day was seeing the breath-taking cherry blossoms in full bloom, creating a beautiful and memorable setting for the trip.
Easter celebrations
What a truly egg-stra special day we’ve had celebrating Easter with our wonderful residents, their families, and friends! The dining room was filled with laughter, delicious food, and the joy of being together as everyone enjoyed a lovely Easter meal.
From traditional favourites to sweet treats, there was something for everyone to enjoy. We then had a fun Easter trivia quiz. Residents teamed up with their loved ones to test their knowledge, from Easter traditions to chocolate facts. Congratulations to our winner!
Whitehouse Farm Trip
Residents at Chester Court enjoyed a wonderful day out at Whitehouse Farm in Morpeth. Everyone had the chance to get up close with the animals and even help bottle-feed some adorable lambs, which was the highlight of the trip. Residents enjoyed feeding and stroking the goats, sheep and horses, and there was lots of excitement when we even fed the meerkats! We took a break to enjoy a lovely picnic lunch together before heading back to cuddle some of the smaller animals.
The rabbits and guinea pigs were a big hit and brought plenty of smiles. The adventure continued with a fun tractor ride around the farm, giving everyone a chance to take in even more of the scenery. Throughout the day, we also saw a variety of other animals, including reindeers, alpacas, emus, pigs and reptiles, making it a real adventure for everyone. To finish off the day, we warmed up in the café with a hot chocolate or a cup of tea, the perfect ending to such a fun and memorable trip.

Home plan 15-mile hike for charity
On February 28th, a team of eight care home workers from Chester Court will be tackling a 15 mile hike to raise money for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation. The Foundation supports older people and other adults living with a disability or mental health problems by helping them to connect or re-connect with others in their local communities.
Laura Tindle is normally the General Manager at Chester Court, but on February 28th she will be donning her walking boots and leading her team using sheer grit and determination on a 15 mile hike from sister home Bedewell Grange in Hebburn back to Chester Court in Bedlington, in order to raise funds for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.
