Activities at Chester Court Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinator is dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Our aim is to make sure that our residents feel they had something to look forward to each day. We have a varied life enrichment programme, both in the home and in the community, and we always ask if there is anything different that residents would like to do. Residents and families approach our Activities Coordinator and comment on how much they enjoy what we do, so that we can continue to develop our programme to the benefit of our residents.

Lauren Corbett
Activities Coordinator
Hi, my name is Lauren and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Chester Court. I joined the team in December 2020 and bring a wealth of enthusiasm to the role. I have just graduated from university in July 2020 and have previously completed work experience at another Barchester home. During this work experience I discovered how meaningful and important activities are for residents and how they can help enhance resident’s lives. Therefore, I decided to become an activities coordinator myself as I feel this is such a rewarding role.
I love working with our Residents here at the home and getting to know them and their families so that I can deliver and support in meaningful activities, keeping them socially stimulated and active as part of our extensive life enrichment calendar. The lifestyle and continued community links are also important.
Celebrating life at Chester Court Care Home

NUFC Memory Cafe
Fantastic morning at NUFC Memory Cafe with the families of our lovely residents. It was interesting and great fun listening to Bobby Moncur relay his cup-winning times at the toon back in the day.

Chicks hatch!
Staff, residents and their guests were celebrating the birth of baby chicks this week at the home. There was a lot of egg-citement at the home as three chicks hatched throughout the week. Residents were able to pet and feed the chicks as they found their footing in their new home.

Residents enjoy a crafty morning
Residents enjoyed a creative morning in their arts and crafts session, showing their artistic flair for creating musical instruments from various materials.

Spending time with Mind Active
Fantastic afternoon with the lovely Mind Active team at The Salvation Army in Bedlington . Wonderful hospitality as always, great craik and great company. Thanks as always for making our day so fabulous.

Fab morning getting ready with the residents for the big game . Newcastle v Liverpool COME ON THE TOON!!!
And we won... what an amazing outcome!!

St Patrick's Day
We enjoyed a delicious lunch from our wonderful chefs and an array of alcoholic delights, including baby guiness’ galore. Thank you to all who came and supported the event and thanks to all the staff who managed to pull this all together to create a brilliant afternoon filled with laughter, craik and Irish sentiment.

Pupils from West End Primary visit
We had the pleasure of the company of students and teachers from West End Primary in Bedlington. The students and teachers worked diligently and patiently with our residents making little snowmen and Christmas cards.
You can never have enough glitter in one area and our end creations were fabulous! We loved having you all and hope to see you again in the new year for more creative antics . Thank you to all the staff for making this possible. Our residents loved it too!

Live entertainment with 'Wor Vera'
Residents and colleagues enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of musical entertainment with a live performance from ‘Wor Vera’.
‘Wor Vera’ took us back in time with a medley of songs as we reminisced on Christmases past, it was a right old-fashioned knee up!
We look forward to welcoming ‘Wor Vera’ back in the new year.

Community Gifts
We received the most incredible personalised gifts from Sublime Hairdressing in Ashington.
Thank you so much to the team at Sublime and their clients for their support and generosity.
Residents are looking forward to opening their gifts and we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from us all here at Chester Court.
