Activites at Cookridge Court Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Laura Marshall
Head Activities Coordinator
My name is Laura and I am the Head Activities Coordinator here at Cookridge Court. I have worked in care since 2014 and get so much satisfaction out of knowing I have made a difference to people’s days and have filled the home with a sense of community and happiness. We have created a wonderful culture within our home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.
We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active and ensure we all know each residents' preferences so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. The strong relationships we build with our residents, their families and friends is essential to our homely feel.
Celebrating life at Cookridge Court Care Home

Home launch dementia disco initiative
On 3rd July, staff and residents dusted off their dancing shoes for the launch of their new Dementia Disco initiative.
Knowing how much their residents love to dance, the activities team at Cookridge Court care home came up with the genius idea of a dementia-friendly disco. The team invited along members of the local community and friends of the home to the first official dementia-friendly disco, which went down an absolute storm.
Ron's 100th Birthday Celebrations
Wow! What a wonderful day celebrating Ron's 100th Birthday. Lots of old friends and family joined In the celebrations. Beautiful cake baked by Adrian our wonderful chef, washed down with a glass of bubbly. Ron enjoyed a visit from North Leeds Model plane Club which used to be his passion and not forgetting the care from HRH King Charles and HRH Camilla.
VE Day Celebrations
Cookridge Court Care home in Leeds marked the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day in style by throwing a 1940s afternoon street party to remember.

The Blue Birds
Residents and colleagues had a fantastic afternoon watching the popular "The Bluebirds" perform their Easter spectacular. The Bluebirds performed a medley of golden oldies, taking residents on a trip down memory lane.
The room was full of singing, dancing, fun and laughter as everyone came together to watch the duo. We look forward to their next performance.
Knit and Natter Group
Just a little update on how we are getting on with May’s challenge of knitting baby hats and blankets for the Leeds children’s hospital.
Our knitting group is growing nicely and so far we have knitted around 30 hats to be donated to the Leeds Children’s Hospital. Team members have even participating - which is amazing!
Eggcellent news
Over the last 24 hours, 4 fluffy babies have hatched from our living eggs. There are currently 3 boys and 1 girl.
We have followed the living eggs information leaflet and these 4 babies have now transitioned to a brooder box to eat, drink and run around in.
