Activities at Derham House Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Derham house were pleased to welcome Upminster Rotary club to our home today.

We are super excited to announce that The Rotary of Upminster have agreed to adopt our home and will look to support both our residents and the home going forward.

This support will include but not limited to befriending, reading stories, support with events, invitations to Rotary club events such as meetings or lunches and fundraising.

We are super excited to see where this new friendship takes us and what we can achieve together in the very near future.

Clayton Returns

Today at Derham house we welcomed the return of the talented Clayton and boy he didn’t disappoint the ladies.

He is such an energetic man dancing and falling on the floor playing his air guitar he is also a very cheeky chap and he serenaded lots of the ladies we had to have the nurse on standby to check blood pressure’s - even the gents were not left out with a serenade.

Two ladies were giggling like little school girls when Clayton went to park his bottom on their laps, another lady couldn’t contain herself and got up and danced with him, the joy on everyone’s faces was PRICELESS.

The highlight of the afternoon was the Mexican wave which took us about three times to master and we danced the conga to is this the way to Amarillo.

A fantastic and worn out afternoon thanks Clayton look forward to having you back at Derham.

Pudding Club

The Barchester Pudding Club has been launched with many of the homes participating.

Derham House residents spoilt themselves and tucked into their chosen traditional pudding.

Residents got together, researched and discussed with the Head Chef Dmitrij who worked he's magic.

The Pudding Club’s heartfelt mission is to preserve the Great British Pudding and we think we’ve succeeded in this mission so far!!

Can you guess the pudding?

Music is the best form of medicine

An afternoon of Music.

Our residents at Derham House had a lovely time recently being entertained by Johnny Lawrence.

They enjoyed listening and singing to the old time favourite songs with some dancing thrown in for good measure.

Musical activities provide lots of interaction for everyone and are always enjoyable.
