Activities at Elgar Court Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Hello, My name is Kerrie and I provide the unique life enrichment for residents at Elgar Court.  I moved to Malvern 12 years ago to live with my fiance and we have two tortoises and a snake.  I love to play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends.  I am very 'outdoorsy' and used to ride horses and compete nationally in athletics, specialising in track and field for Redditch and Bromsgrove athletics club.  In my spare time, I love being in the kitchen and making treats for my family.

Snowflakes and Angels from our local little Angels!

What wonderful Christmas delights were delivered to us this week! St Matthias C of E Primary School's after school club had been hard at work creating amazing Snowflakes and Angels to decorate our home.
Sarah Cadwallader, Senior General Manager at Elgar Court Care Home (kneeling in the centre picture) came along to the school to meet Mrs Beale, Head Teacher of St Matthias (pictured in the green jumper) to present chocolate treats to all the lovely children who spent so much time and care to make these for our residents.
As you can see our residents thought they were absolutely fabulous and thank you so much from us all!

Festive Tunes with the Singing Policeman!

What a treat our home had with PCSOs' Kevin Tudge and Rebecca Bullock joining us to sing festive tunes to us and get us all in the christmas mood this week! PCSO Kevin obviously has quite a few talents to share with his community and we all enjoyed our sing along with them!
Rebecca and Kevin also took the time this week to look at our Memory tree that residents had noted some of their dearest Christmas memories to share, and for all to see.

All that Glitters is Golden!

All that Glitters is Golden!
Today all the residents and staff have been laughing and joking making decorative baubles, and of course a little drink or two to enjoy!
Our General Manager Sarah joined in the fun and spent time with our lovely residents throughout the afternoon, as the festive spirit got under way. These decorations will go very nicely with the beautiful christmas decorations that have been out together by Sarah our Head Housekeeper (pictured here by one of her trees in reception).
And of course Alice (who is 105 years young!), enjoyed making her baubles with a sip of Baileys to keep her festive spirit up!

Elgar Court Presents ....Cinderella !!

A Sprinkling of Magic, and a home full of fun and enthusiasm, gave our residents, families and friends a wonderful afternoon of festive heartwarming joy of our production of Cinderella!
Residents and staff donned their fairytale outfits, and provided a delightful and amusing festive rendition of this fairytale classic and had the audience in fits of giggles!
And of course, everyone was entranced by the 6ft 4 tall fairy godmother - aka Malvin our Senior Care Lead, and especially Alice who's a 105 years and couldn't believe it was him!
Mince pies, mulled wine and sherry were enjoyed by all afterwards, and the entertainers mixed and mingled with the audience. We are truly overjoyed that so many friends and residents' families of our home, came along to watch our production - THANK YOU!!!

A Wintery Worcester Victorian Market

Everyone wrapped up warm and stepped back in time as our residents went to the Victorian Christmas market in Worcester this weekend. Jenny was fascinated at all the handcrafted items on display from jewellery to knitted plushies, whilst Peter and Bill enjoyed the atmosphere!
Everyone loved being outside looking the 'Victorians' selling their wares and admiring the city's glistening Christmas lights.

We have been writing down our favourite memories to go on the Memory tree we made. Our residents spent the morning laughing and chatting as they put together our home's Memory Tree and fastening the tags with their special memories to them.
Sharing memories and celebrating the times we have together are so important, and we love hearing everyone's times gone past and hopes for the future!

Celebrating National Men's Day with Malvern Men's Shed

We invited the Malvern Men's shed to our home to celebrate International Men's Day in 2025. This day is celebrated worldwide with various events aimed at recognizing men's contributions to families, workplaces, and communities.
But as we welcome everyone and are inclusive, we also had the pleasure of welcoming representatives from the Women's Shed too! Both of these groups are open to everyone in the community and brought along some of the wonderful items made by it's members.
Our residents were delighted by the items and getting to know them and we are looking into how residents can become more involved with their activities.

Christmas Carols at Great Malvern Priory

Residents met up with friends at Great Malvern Priory this week whilst enjoying the Christmas concert by Malvern Parish School. You may remember that this delightful school named our three communities in our home at Elgar Court when we first opened, and we always look forward to this school's activities.
Resident trips outings each week are always looked forward to by everyone, and the festive spirit at Great Malvern Priory is always enjoyed in our close Malvern community.

Residents bid a very fond farewell to Darren!

Darren is one of Barchester's highly valued peripatetic senior Chefs, and today is sadly his last day with us. 'Peri teams' as they are nicknamed, understand the Barchester way of life to maintain our high expectations and are invaluable to ensure life in our home is uninterrupted for our residents.
We will all be sad to see Darren go, and hope he enjoys his chocolates and John Lewis voucher from us as a token of our appreciation. Good luck Darren and we hope you drop in and see us again!

War Time Favourites with the D-Day Dollies!

As part of the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Remembrance Sunday, we welcomed back the D-Day Dollies this week to sing and dance to wartime favourites from the 1940’s! And they sure did put a spring in the step and a song in their hearts of our residents who sang and danced along to this special event to mark Remembrance Sunday and we are always thrilled . Vintage song classics included, the Andrews Sisters, Judy Garland, and the inimitable Dame Vera Lynn, plus many others - the ‘Dollies’ setlist really is the soundtrack of an amazing generation.
