Activities at Elgar Court Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Kerrie Perks
Activities Leader
Hello, My name is Kerrie and I provide the unique life enrichment for residents at Elgar Court. I moved to Malvern 12 years ago to live with my fiance and we have two tortoises and a snake. I love to play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends. I am very 'outdoorsy' and used to ride horses and compete nationally in athletics, specialising in track and field for Redditch and Bromsgrove athletics club. In my spare time, I love being in the kitchen and making treats for my family.
Celebrating life at Elgar Court Care Home
Fine Dining Experiences
Every mealtime is an event to look forward to for our residents as it's an opportunity catch up on the day, and enjoy eating together amongst friends. Eating well is a huge part of daily life both nutritionally and as an enjoyable experience.
This week over lunch, and this week is no exception. Pictured here is our hostess Tracey, serving up delights of a Walnut, Stilton and Apple salad starter and a Genoise sponge, Chantilly cream and fruit for dessert - our residents thoroughly enjoy our daily dining experiences - and it's just like eating out at a Restaurant!
Spectacular Spetchley!
Residents enjoyed the wonderful warm weather for a leisurely stroll around the renowned Worcestershire award winning estate Gardens of Spetchley. The beautiful scenery created the perfect backdrop to enjoy a picnic for our residents and watch the wildlife. Trips out each week ensure our residents live well, enjoy life and continue live well!

Spa Day for Alice!
Alice is living the life at Elgar Court and ensuring she makes use of all of the wonderful services we offer at Elgar Court. Alice, who is Queen of our home and 105 years young, enjoys all the perks of our hairdresser, and having a manicure in our salon. As you can see, she is inspecting and admiring her latest nail polish colour courtesy of Kerrie, our Activities lead. Living well and bringing daily joy to our residents is at the heart of everything we do.
Classic Car Sunday Season
Since we launched our monthly Classic Car Sunday, we have been delighted to welcome a wide range of cars. Residents have been amazed at the spectacular range of classic cars brought by their owners, and thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing about the cars on show. Car owners had a chance to swap stories and admire each of the cars on show; from a vintage Ferrari, a Westfield to a Hillman Imp and a Beetle. and of course, the classic British Mini! The next free Classic Car event is on Sunday 21st September from 10am until 12.30pm.
All About Acorns Childrens' Hospice
One of our chosen charities this year is Acorns Children's Hospice. Earlier this year we raised over £100 in our Easter cake competition, and this week we welcomed Jo from Acorns Children's Hospice to our home to talk about the work they do, and how the money raised is used to support a network of specialist palliative nursing care and support for local children and their families.
Residents were in awe of the fundraising efforts of this amazing charity, and the story of how this first started. And as you can imagine, from little acorns, this charity has grown into an enormous Acorn providing care when and where most needed to families. We will continue fundraising this year and do hope you will join one of our events.

What A Hoot!
Residents recently had a lovely trip out to the Hagley Falconry Centre as part of National Owl Awareness day. Everyone had a wonderful time seeing the birds all flying for a display and learning all about the different types of birds of prey, and each had their own favourite memory of the outing. Trent was fascinated at how big the vultures were, Rose loved seeing the Bold Eagle and Julie was besotted by the owls - and brought home a memento of the day out. Resident Susan really enjoyed seeing the birds fly in the display and said "we had the best spot in the place as the owls came right up in front of us".
Life at Elgar Court is never dull, from outings such as these to indoor entertainment and cultural talks, the range of life enrichment is something Residents look forward to each week!!

Gardening is a gift that keeps giving!
Our community garden is a gift that keeps giving! Not only are our residents enjoying pottering about the garden, but the fruits of their labour and staff, is proving a weekly bounty of treats at mealtimes.
However a lot of planning and thought by residents goes into this during their planning meetings (pictured here), and of course, Chef's home made cake and tea help things along very nicely!

Welcoming to our Malvern Social Prescribers!
We had the pleasure of hosting Malvern's Social Prescribers to our home this week. Another fabulous 5 Star review!
What a lovely way to start the weekend as we received yet another appreciative accolade of the home we provide our residents. Living well is truly at the heart of everything we do, and if we can create that special magic for our residents, then we will do! Personalised care for each resident is the benchmark for each and everyone one, and the reviews we have received, prove to us and their families, that w are doing the right thing!
