Activities at Elgar Court Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Kerrie Perks

Activities Leader

Hello, My name is Kerrie and I provide the unique life enrichment for residents at Elgar Court.  I moved to Malvern 12 years ago to live with my fiance and we have two tortoises and a snake.  I love to play Dungeons and Dragons with my friends.  I am very 'outdoorsy' and used to ride horses and compete nationally in athletics, specialising in track and field for Redditch and Bromsgrove athletics club.  In my spare time, I love being in the kitchen and making treats for my family.

The Great Easter Egg Hunt!

Chick, chick, chick, chick, chicken, lay those little eggs for us! Oh what fun we had over Easter hunting high and low for the Easter eggs. Residents had to keep their ‘peepers peeled’ for the little Easter egg clues we had scattered all over our home – and even in the most unlikeliest places!

Our resident winner is Alice!

Are you being served....

Our residents requests are very important to us, and we have now started our pre dinner drinks before Sunday lunch each week and when requested. This has proven to be very popular – cheers!

Millifiore Made Easy!

Millefiori masterclasses are planned over the next few weeks with residents (and the families and friends if they want to join in).

Millefiori in italian means a thousand flowers, and is a well known glass making technique composed rods of glass made in the same way as Blackpool rock!  Please let us know if you would like to join in!

And here’s one Maria made earlier with Alice…. A Millefiori example made into a bowl.

Bracing Walk and Café Catch Up with Peter

It’s always good to get out and admire the scenery and the local landmarks – whatever the weather! Peter and Maria enjoyed a stroll around the grounds and local area to blow away the cobwebs and have that important one to one time.

Fun with clay

Fun with clay – or to be more technical, Polymer clay. Residents chose the colours and mixed the clays into swirling marble designs. We than used cutters to create earring drops ready to be made into pendants and earrings.

New Friends coffee morning

We like our trips out and about, and this week we visited our Barchester sister home in Worcester, Latimer Court. A spontaneous sing song by one of the resident’s, got everyone one joining in with the fun over drinks and homemade biscuits – divine! We look forward to welcoming you to our home in April. Plus the shortbread biscuits were divine.
