Activities at Field House Care Home

The Activities Coordinators here at Field House are always keen to learn about residents' interests and hobbies, tailoring meaningful activities to the likes and dislikes of those we support. Our mission is to ignite the past, appeal to current interests and embrace new ones, improving quality of life whilst stimulating the mind and senses. Activities are carried out via small groups or individually, supported by local volunteers. We have access to a range of local community facilities and nearby places of interest, prompting community engagement, and hold special events at the home, where we are entertained by guest vocalists and performers, with 'The Quiz Master' being a fan favourite.

Caroline Davis

Activities Coordinator

Hi, I'm Caroline and I joined Field House in 2021 from another Barchester home. I have worked in care for the last 30 years and a big part of that has been with Barchester.

Here at Field House, I organise a variety of activities and social events within the home and in the community, such as gardening club arts and crafts, weekly exercise sessions along with live singers and musicians every month. We are also keen on regular outings to local landmarks, museums, cafes and shopping centres.

In my job, I'm able to develop excellent relationships with residents and their families providing the support they need. I am very passionate about my job role as it is very important to us as a team that every individual is able to live the life they wish and feel fulfilled in their everyday activities maintaining past hobbies and finding new ones.

Coffee Morning At Mayfair Community Centre

Our Field House family love making new friends and visiting new places, recently we have formed a wonderful bond with Mayfair Community Hub.

We were invited to join them for a coffee and cake morning. Our residents were made to feel very special and we are talking about making it a weekly visit.

One of our residents led us on a guided tour as this is a place that holds a special place in her heart.

Sailing the Canal

Our residents meetings are about planning activities, dining experiences and excursions and this week the resident chose to take a trip on a canal boat.

We had such a lovely time and everyone enjoyed it so much that the residents are already talking about doing it again soon.

Everyone was so thankful to Heulwen Trust Narrowboat Trips for making it happen.

Tea Tasting

We have enjoyed celebrating national tea drinking day. Spending our Sunday morning sipping teas, talking about our favourite teas, smelling minty and fruity flavours with honey a little sugar or a lot! Our favourite tea was a lovely lychee and mango and also Earl Gary.

Planting our Veg Garden

A little sunshine and we are out in the garden at Field House starting our mini make over. Residents all chose what they wanted us to plant and where. We had rows of veg and we all decided once everything has grown the residents would like to try some smoothies and another lady sed we must try a beetroot cake as she sed that she had never tried one.

Fire Fighters visit Field House

The Residents at Field House were so lucky to have chance to celebrate our local fire fighters for their hard work. Church Stretton fire fighters came along before their Tuesday night training to have sandwiches and cake. The residents couldn’t wait to get out and look around the engines and even try on the uniform.

After everyone had left the residents didn’t stop talking about the evening and they can’t wait for the next visit.

Mental Heatlth Awareness

This week at Field House is a week of reflection.

Each day we will be doing something to show people who live with mental health struggles that they are not alone! Today we went out into our local community and shared small posies of blue flowers tied by our residents to mark National Mental Health Awareness week, we found ourselves chatting with people who this really effected and we could see that they had a feeling of relief on their faces when they walked away having just chatted about it for a few moments. Talking to a stranger is sometimes the best medicine.
