Activites at Field House Care Home
The Activities Coordinators here at Field House are always keen to learn about residents' interests and hobbies, tailoring meaningful activities to the likes and dislikes of those we support. Our mission is to ignite the past, appeal to current interests and embrace new ones, improving quality of life whilst stimulating the mind and senses. Activities are carried out via small groups or individually, supported by local volunteers. We have access to a range of local community facilities and nearby places of interest, prompting community engagement, and hold special events at the home, where we are entertained by guest vocalists and performers, with 'The Quiz Master' being a fan favourite.

Caroline Davis
Activities Coordinator
Hi, I'm Caroline and I joined Field House in 2021 from another Barchester home. I have worked in care for the last 30 years and a big part of that has been with Barchester.
Here at Field House, I organise a variety of activities and social events within the home and in the community, such as gardening club arts and crafts, weekly exercise sessions along with live singers and musicians every month. We are also keen on regular outings to local landmarks, museums, cafes and shopping centres.
In my job, I'm able to develop excellent relationships with residents and their families providing the support they need. I am very passionate about my job role as it is very important to us as a team that every individual is able to live the life they wish and feel fulfilled in their everyday activities maintaining past hobbies and finding new ones.
Celebrating life at Field House Care Home
Celebrating carer's week
Our care staff do such a fantastic job that our residents wanted to show them how much they appreciated all their hard work. Gillian and Ruth asked if they could show the staff by arranging an afternoon tea. They ordered and arranged this with the chef, then asked if they could arrange the table. The ladies served tea and handed out treats.
The residents were having their nails done and asked if they could do the staff's nails as another thank you, so care staff had a full week of being spoilt.
Royal Ascot
Celebrating Royal Ascot with a fun afternoon of seated racing, the residents all thought we had gone mad with the heat when we told them we were racing in the dining room, but they soon got the hang of it and had a fantastic time keeping fit and having fun. Alice couldn’t wait to be in charge of the starting flag.
‘Ready, steady, go!’ she shouted. We did have some giggles and faces when we brought out the chocolate fountain and strawberries.
Happy and sad times
We invited our Little Acorns Nursery children for lunch and a sports day afternoon. It was a mixture of feelings: “happy” to have the children visit, but also “sad” as it would be the last time we would see some of the children as they would be starting school in September.
So we had a fun time, having lunch, then a sports day in the garden, which was fantastic! The residents were gifted some treat bags to take home and all received winning medals as they were all winners.
National Biscuit Day
Residents have been busy making custard creams, chocolate bourbons, and Jammie Dodgers while our Chef Paula made some delicious Viennese Whirls and Short Bread.
We all enjoyed these with a lovely cup of tea. What a treat.
Reminiscing
One of our residents had asked to visit Much Wenlock, a place she had spent many happy years with her family. So we enjoyed a beautiful drive out to Much Wenlock over the Wenlock edge, enjoying the beautiful views. We sat in the town square and enjoyed saying hello to people.
While enjoying an ice cream from the smoothie café, one of our residents popped into the Pennie Farthing's gift shop to buy some greeting cards.
Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea
Today at Field House we hosted our Alice in Wonderland-themed party. What fun we all had. The staff couldn’t wait to get dressed up, even the residents joined in, donning costumes to everyone’s delight.
We enjoyed a great lunch together followed by party games indoors and out, such fun.

Soup lunch fundraiser
Our Community soup lunch fundraiser and pudding club raised £72.40p for our local Parkinson’s Group. In total, we have raised over £150 for them over the last two soup lunches.
It was a fantastic turn out. The residents were so happy and everyone enjoyed the homemade soups and our resident of the day, Margaret, chose a Queen of Pudding all arranged by our Chef, Stella, who always does a fantastic job.
World cocktail day
Residents at Field House appreciated a range of cocktails, including: Mojito, Margarita, Peach on the Beach, Strawberry Daiquiri and Pineapple Malibu to celebrate World Cocktail Day. The garden location was a must to enjoy some beautiful cocktails.
We talked about what our favourite tipple is and how fruit cocktails are so popular. We had a lovely afternoon in the sun.
Field House community soup lunch and pudding club
We held our monthly Community soup lunch fundraiser and pudding club to raise money for our local Parkinson’s Group. This is our second fundraiser for them as they support one of our residents, so we have a close friendship with the group. We have raised over £150 for the Parkinson’s group since we started our soup lunches.
It was a fantastic turn out. The residents were so happy that it was well-supported, and everyone enjoyed the homemade soups and our resident of the day, Margaret, chose a Queen of Pudding as her special dessert today, all arranged by our Chef, Stella, who always does a fantastic job.
