Activities at Field House Care Home
The Activities Coordinators here at Field House are always keen to learn about residents' interests and hobbies, tailoring meaningful activities to the likes and dislikes of those we support. Our mission is to ignite the past, appeal to current interests and embrace new ones, improving quality of life whilst stimulating the mind and senses. Activities are carried out via small groups or individually, supported by local volunteers. We have access to a range of local community facilities and nearby places of interest, prompting community engagement, and hold special events at the home, where we are entertained by guest vocalists and performers, with 'The Quiz Master' being a fan favourite.
Caroline Davis
Hi, I'm Caroline and I joined Field House in 2021 from another Barchester home. I have worked in care for the last 30 years and a big part of that has been with Barchester.
Here at Field House, I organise a variety of activities and social events within the home and in the community, such as gardening club arts and crafts, weekly exercise sessions along with live singers and musicians every month. We are also keen on regular outings to local landmarks, museums, cafes and shopping centres.
In my job, I'm able to develop excellent relationships with residents and their families providing the support they need. I am very passionate about my job role as it is very important to us as a team that every individual is able to live the life they wish and feel fulfilled in their everyday activities maintaining past hobbies and finding new ones.

Life at Field House Care Home
Molly Celebrates a Special Birthday
We celebrated our beautiful Molly's 102nd Birthday!!...We are so honoured to have this amazing lady living with us at Field House, Molly holds a special place in each of our hearts and is a truly remarkable lady.
National Pizza day
We recognised 'National Pizza Day' by creating our own pizza toppings for lunch, they were delicious! There's always so much fun (and food!) to be had at Field House.
Potting Plants
The lovely people at John R Thomas florists very kindly sent us these beautiful plants. We have been decorating some small pots for them to go in. A lovely relaxing, creative afternoon, thank you John R Thomas, we all love them.
The value of reminiscence
Joan came along to the music session; not only is music good for the soul and your mental health, but music is also a wonderful source of reconnection with the past. Joan thoroughly enjoyed singing along to all of the songs. What made this session even more special for Joan is that she was able to try her hand at playing the keyboard again. As Joan tested out the keys, she was able to talk about her love of the youth choir that she used to attend and how much she loved playing the piano there. Even the smallest of actions can have the biggest of effects.
Christmas Concert
This was our first session with our professional music teacher who will be preparing us for our Christmas concert. Each person sang along to the music, contributed to the song writing as we attempted to start compiling the making of our own Christmas song; and input their feelings on what songs we should be choosing for the concert. Everyone was smiling and engaged; it was a beautiful session to witness and thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
Quiet Contemplation
Sometimes you have to hit reset by checking in with the past and reminding yourself of all the special meaningful moments. John used to be a reader at this church. Today, he went back to take a moment of quiet contemplation and leave his prayers with his God.
