Activities at Field House Care Home

Janet had put in our wishing well that she would like to go out on a canal trip, so we did. 

We took a short trip to the Welsh border to spend time on the Montgomery Canal with the Heulwen Trust and enjoyed seeing lots of wildlife on our way.

The Trust supports people with disabilities to enjoy time on the river. This is supported by volunteers, to make a perfect day out. 

Residents an afternoon at the Barchester Puppetry Workshop, an exclusive workshop with the Globe theatre. 

Discovering how to bring puppets to life, their history and finishing with making our own sock puppets, this brought back so many memories for all the residents, making sock puppets with their own children.

Residents summer outing to the coast! Barmouth was today’s destination. Such a beautiful, relaxing day, just what the doctor ordered: fish and chips and ice cream. Hillary had such a surprise to see her family on the beach enjoying a day out. 

How lucky were we to see the RNLI LIFE BOAT being set to work out at sea.

Our residents were invited to Little Acorns Nursery, sports day, to say thank you to the residents for the monthly visits to the field house. The children enjoy visiting the children every month and wanted some of the residents to be a part of the end-of-year sports day and party.

The ladies enjoyed watching the children doing their races, running, egg and spoon and a bean bag race. It was so lovely as so many parents came up to us to thank us for making the children’s visits to Field House so special.

Residents at Field House Celebrated Armed Forces Day, inviting families and friends to a morning of tea and scones, jam and cream. With stories about themselves and family members and the parts they played in times of need.       

Our weekly water colour painting group happens every Tuesday morning. This is an activity asked for by one of our residents because of her love of painting, and the talent we have is outstanding. It’s enjoyable and social and even if painting isn’t for you, we all enjoy morning refreshments together. 

Peter always talked about his life in the RAF. He was an engineer working on different types of engines and parts, so he was asked if he would like to go to RAF Cosford museum.

A great day out for some residents at Field House Care Home, we visited RAF Cosford to enjoy the air museum. A great day out by everyone finished off by having lunch in the café.

Fantastic afternoon with the lovely Debbie, entertaining our residents at Field House. Gillian enjoyed celebrating her birthday with her friends and dancing the afternoon way, she said it felt so special celebrating with her friends and everyone singing Happy Birthday.

We love to party!

Our Summer Fate and Dog show was a fantastic success, supported by family, friends and the community. Resident Brenda asked if herself and daughter to run the tombola and said she had a lovely time meeting and talking to new people.      

Resident Peter asked if he could help with the dog show again. He said he thought that we had more visitors than last year and said he really enjoyed talking and watching all the dogs in the show. Such a lovely day, fantastic weather and such an enjoyable afternoon.

Keeping cool cool cool, enjoyed spending time indoors keeping cool with our first monthly pampering afternoon. 

The ladies enjoyed foot soaks and a cold ice lollypop while listening to relaxing music.        

Residents have had a full week of activities, starting with a visit to Mayfair board game group with our very popular game of Rummikub. 

We enjoyed popping over to Wheatlands Care Home twice this week, starting with a fundraiser for breast cancer. Maisie was over the moon to win guess the weight of the cake and shared it with her friends at home. 

On our second visit, we joined their high tea society.

We also ran our baking group with Peggy asking if we could make jam tarts a favourite for everyone.           

Residents enjoyed an afternoon with the Barchester Live Virtual Events Team, and the Puppetry Workshop, an exclusive workshop hosted by the Globe theatre. 

Discovering how to bring puppets to life, their history and finishing with making our own sock puppets, Gillian said it had been years since she had made sock puppets with her children and Ruth said she had never made a sock puppet.

The Long Mynd Archers come to Field House for the afternoon to do some archery in the garden and also talk about the family’s events at the Olympic Games and show silver and bronze medals. They also brought along an Olympic torch, so residents could have a hold. 

They couldn’t wait to have a go themselves at Archery. Mary enjoyed it so much. She was so sad when it was time to finish and joe asked if we could save up and buy our own Archery set. It was such a fun afternoon  and it’s a definite activity the residents would like to do again.

End of school party at Field House with Rushbury Nursery.

We themed our Party to Celebrate Alice in wonderland Day and played party games and enjoyed sweet treats. Staff also got involved in the celebrations, dressed up to have fun.

At the end of the party residents handed out party gifts to all the children and said there goodbyes to the children who will be joining school in September, an emotional times saying farewell.        

We were invited by Church Stretton Dementia Friends to join them on a visit to David Austin Roses. Such a lovely morning with such lovely people, we had a great time.

Looking at all the wonderful roses, gifts and the most amazing scones, the best ever!!!
